CableMod Updates melting connector... will this solve the issue

**The Great Adapter Debate: A Closer Look**

Now I still stand by the adapter on like 480s and down even though a few 480s did melt in very rare instances it's about the loose connection and the high wattage that a 490 can pull so 4070 TI 4070 4080 4060 TI they're not going to melt the connector more than likely just because they don't pull the amount of Watts so what they said is that they have fixed this adapter or or this plug to have a tighter fit so that's what I'm going to test right now okay it already takes quite a bit more Force to get it to connect but it still has it can still pull out slightly when it's in its furthest out I think that's just got to be the speck of this plug because it's this clip this clip right here needs to be like 1/4 millim or a half millim shorter you can hear it you can hear it unseat now I love cable mod and I think they're trying and it's tighter it's a tighter fit I feel like either they changed the pin type not sure exactly what kind of pins these are can't really tell without a magnifying glass it certainly does feel tighter like when it's seated down that sucker is definitely tighter in there there's no doubt about it like it's pretty firm tighter than the V1 for sure I'm want to preface this by saying I have a 90° adapter V1 at home I check it regularly I also have one in my A180 adapter V1 in my workstation here with a 4090 in it that I also check regularly now so far I have not seen any signs of melting or failure and I'm constantly like paranoid about that and pushing it in and make sure it's tight and it's never moved on me so I I don't know I still feel like there's there's more things at play here jeez okay you do need more effort to remove it I'm going to give them that um I'm really excited to see what their V2 is going to be um I know they've told me about it I think it'll be a big deal I hope enough people still have faith in the brand to not like oh yeah do you see okay there's one of your major differences here it's hard for me to make a video to really show you guys like force I can't show you force in a video like this so when I go to pick up the graphics card by the adapter which is probably not recommended you'll notice it move it's still going to have that side to side wiggle no matter what but it's not unseating itself I guess we could take this to our microscope real quick and just kind of look at it closely let's go do that and then we'll wrap this up

**The Science Behind the Adapter**

Let's take a closer look at the adapter using a microscope. As you can see, there is a dimple design on the adapter which is held in place by three pins. It appears to be made of metal and has a certain weight to it. The difference between this adapter and the previous one is that it has a tighter fit when seated into the socket. This is likely due to changes made to the pin type or design. However, it's still unclear what kind of pins these are as they cannot be seen with the naked eye. One long dimple on this adapter suggests that it may not have the same level of friction as the triple dimple design found on the previous adapter.

**My Experience with the Adapter**

I've been using the new adapter in my A180 build and I'm excited to see how it performs. So far, I haven't seen any signs of melting or failure which is a great relief. However, I do need more force to remove the adapter than before, which could be a sign that something is still wrong. Despite this, I'm willing to give it another try and see if it continues to perform well. The brand has been in touch with me and they've told me that they've not had any failures so far, but I want to make sure to use my own judgment when it comes to using the adapter.

**The Replacement Program**

The company behind the adapter has implemented a replacement program for those who have purchased one of the old adapters. If you're worried about your adapter melting or failing, they've got you covered. They're not even asking for the return of the old adapter, but rather providing a coupon to get a new one free of charge. I'm really hoping that this new design will continue to perform well and avoid any issues.

**Conclusion**

It's been an interesting journey watching the evolution of the adapter. From the initial concerns about melting and failure to the latest design which has a tighter fit and seems more secure, it's clear that the company is committed to making things right. I'm excited to see how this new design performs and whether it will address all the issues with the previous one. As always, I'll be keeping a close eye on this adapter and providing updates as necessary.
