Edifier W820NB Plus Review - ANC + LDAC On A Budget!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enand if I is back with a more affordable now Wireless high-res certified earphones now these here have active noise cancellation they're called their w820mb the model and they have 40 millimeter Dynamic drivers within them and ldac support so that's Superior codec that is just so much better than SBC or AAC codecs so they have a runtime on a single charge of 49 hours that's up to only using the SBC codec and with the active noise cancellation off if you turn it on it's 29 hours and if you use the ldec codec plus the active noise cancellation you're looking then at about 16 or so hours out of these so along with our headphones of course we've got this which is a tiny little manual there is important safety information and then we have a type A to type c cable so the charge time for the W 820 MB Plus is around about two and a half hours to fully charge them Weight Wise not bad an all plastic design and these do not fold in so they've cut down on the cost of them and giving us a course at ldac at a very good price point around 60 Euros at the time of this video and their weight is 229 grams because of that use of plastics worldwise they certainly do feel quite a bit cheaper than the premium kind of headphones that I have covered all the more expensive ones you notice that with the Plastics so it is a matte plastic finish it does tend to pick up a few fingerprints and you'll see The edifer Branding right there now this part will not fold in like other models you can just pull that right in so you can reduce the size of them you can turn that right around where you can turn that around at least and lay them completely flat for storage when you put them in a bag but they don't fold in making them even smaller unfortunately so adjustable here height that's pretty standard I don't find it to be loose it's not flimsy at the moment and well I've used them a few days so I don't expect it to be loosening up just yet so along the top here this is a little bit of paddock now I haven't really had any problems with this wearing them I felt yes after about the two and a half hour mark that you feel a little bit of pressure on the top of your head from this but the weight of them isn't too bad as I showed you before now the padding on the ear cups they do give a good seal and yes I get a bit of heat build up now this is my common complaint with over airs the style and it's going to happen to most people especially now in the hot summer months that you get a bit of moisture inside here heat buildup and I find after again after a few hours I get a little bit sweaty with these and I really want to take them off now the pressure that's been applied to your head when you're wearing them I don't find it to be excessive it doesn't cause me any pain a slight bit of fatigue Yes again after a few hours you feel like your ear the top of your ear is being pressed into your head a little bit but it's not bad compared to some models that really I find push a little bit too hard so because of the cups here the design of it the seal the passive noise isolation is so much better than even the any is so you get the passive and then you've got the active noise cancellation which is up to 38 decibel reduction which is quite a lot more of that later on too so inside you can just see there we've got 30 sorry 40 millimeter Dynamic drivers and the ldac supports the big one with this so you can connect it up to that high quality codec the bit rate is just over three times that of SBC now you can use the SBC codec it falls back on that and if you want the really good battery life so the 49 hours then you just use the SBC no active noise canceling so with active noise canceling on it's 29 hours then and if you use ldac and the active noise cancellation well it's about 15 16 hours it really cuts through that battery life the ldap codec because of the high data rate it has to stream at now you will need a more modern Android phone to be able to enable our DAC I think it is from the Snapdragon 855 onwards but definitely from the 865 865 plus onwards you get the ldac support there so having that enabled it's going to use now that high quality codec so much better so much more Superior than SBC but the trade-off of course is the battery life now in doing so you are also going to be able to hear the difference if you use high quality tracks so don't use an MP3 file that's only 96khz bits per second because you're still going to get Bluetooth compression well not Bluetooth compression compression from the file itself so I use flat files I've enabled this and you can just hear the difference with these earbuds so there's a couple of things I wanted to point out now listening to quite a few of my favorite tracks on these comparing it to other overheads that I find the volume with this particular model here so the W 820 MB plus to be lacking a little it's just not super loud now for me at full volume I find it to be okay but I'm sure a lot of people out there are going to say you know these should be a little bit louder now the highs in the treble they sound decent they're not what I would call crisp we are talking about just a 60 Euro price point here relatively cheap with the ldx support which is good bass is definitely there that's good it's right right up there with Punchy nice powerful bass but again the volume is affecting That Base a little bit there too as well vocal sound Goods mints are good so my criticism would definitely be needs to be louder and the highs could be a little bit more detailed and crisp now audio latency watching here an episode of The Vikings Valhalla I do notice that it seems to be pretty good now it's not 100 perfect if you really concentrate on that you can see that there's a split second delay that when the actress is talking or the actor right here you might pick up on that and you might notice it but if you do game you will notice then that the audio tends to lag behind a little there and that could be annoying for some Gamers now they do have an application which is called edifier connect and when you get into it you don't have to log in or register to by the way for it you've got the options here so I've got noise cancellation off you can turn it on there and ambient mode so ambient mode will bring in the surrounding sounds okay so your ambient noise if you're in a trained platform you want to hear the announcements or whatever then attend you for that now you can control the gain there of the microphone so it's kind of like a hearing aid almost because it boosts your hearing performance you can hear co-workers in all these surroundings a lot better so handy feature to have and there doesn't seem to be any firmware updates for it or anything like that it's a straightforward basic app and it's just got those settings really that you do need and you can also go in and change the equalizer here so I've just kept it on the classic setting that is the one that is default and you'll see here there is even a gaming mode too that is supposed to reduce that latency I was using the gaming mode too before by the way when I was testing out the audio sync to see how much of a delay there was and my example now with the edifier w820mb plus so I'm recording directly into the timeline of my video editor there is some noise cancellation being applied to the background and overall not bad quality for placing calls answering calls with this particular headset so they are very comfortable to wear for the first about our hour and a half or so I've noticed around about the two hour mark that the padding on the top well it is sufficient but after about the two and a half to hour back I can feel just a little bit more pressure and that's simply sold by me just moving the top head support a little bit on my head and I don't have too much issues I get a bit of heat build up around here again that's something that's normal the overhead style like this but I love the passive noise cancellation we do get the noise isolation and then the active noise cancellation so you turn that on it makes a huge difference and you notice it because I can't hear my tower PC I can't hear the air conditioning on it's almost like dead silence and you can hear a tiny very faint though like hissing noise but not that much of a white noise or the hiss that you'd hear from other models out there so sound quality as I pointed out before that I like the bass I think the mid sound good vocals this is me being quite critical here it could be a little bit more detailed and crisper but where they are lacking for me is the volume should be a bit louder that's really the only thing that I have found here with edifiers w820nb so thank you so much for watching my review of these affordable ldac supporting noise canceling over ear headphones\n"
