**Recommendations for Books with Little to No Romance**
But if it does, it's not a key role in the book, most of it is about their struggle to survive and it's honestly an amazing story and they're so great like these historical fictions are some of my favorites and I highly recommend you give them a go. The next two books on this list actually aren't even out yet but they are coming out really really soon so I still wanted to include them on this list. So, the first one is "The Inexplicable Logic of My Life" by Benjamin Leekley. This is the author of "Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe," which is a queer romance, but this one doesn't have any romance in it. It's all about friendship and family and how those bonds are unbreakable and can help you through the toughest of times and it's a beautiful story in that way.
I'm not a huge fan of his writing style, it just doesn't really click with me that well, but I did really love the characters and their relationships together and how strong this family was portrayed. All like the friendships were just a beautiful story about those kinds of relationships rather than about romantic relationships. This is coming out on March 7th, so don't worry, it's coming out really really soon, and I will be doing a review for it soon, so as soon as I do, I will link it down below.
The next book up is "Welcome Universe" by Whitney Garder. This one also is coming out on March 7th, and I will do a review for it very soon, so once again, I will link it down below when I do but I loved this book so much. It follows a deaf Indian main character, which makes it very diverse, and she is a character that's really flawed but it's amazing how she is flawed because you see her as a very inspirational girl because she's not like, she's very confident in herself, but she doesn't always make the wisest of decisions. So, she was very relatable for me, but you don't see her getting into any romantic relationships really. The story is more about her trying to belong as a deaf person in the greater world of hearing people.
I thought that the story of her was beautiful. I loved how it wasn't like romance wasn't brought into it because I think that it really elevated the story and it just became this beautiful representation of De culture, and I loved it. Next up, I have a few books by the same author, and that author is Elizabeth Wan. She writes some awesome historical fiction that I just absolutely love. So, we have "Black Dove White Raven," "Uh Rose Under Fire," and "Code Name Varity." This is a duology, but they're companion books, so like you can read in order, but you don't have to.
They're talking about just then, but anyways, these books don't have any romance. They feature characters who are overcoming a lot of very difficult things in a difficult time and they are learning and struggling to survive. And it is honestly just a beautiful story about them trying to survive that features no romance. Which is awesome because they didn't need I dropped it; it's fine, they didn't need romance so yay. I'm going to pick up that one now.
Next is "Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock" by Matthew Quick. This book is honestly about Leonard peacock and his relationship with friends more than romantic relationships. It's about him, basically, the premise of this book is that it's his birthday, and he is going to kill his best friend and then kill himself. So, it's all about him and his struggles, and there is no romance brought into it. Which once again, I think that if there was romance in it, it would really bring the book down a few notches and make it more juvenile. So, I loved the fact that the story had no romance in it.
Finally, we have "This Savage Song" by Victoria Schwab. This is the closest that we will get to Fantasy on this list because there are like no YA fantasy that feature no romance because every fantasy has a romance; it's just crazy. So, this is the only one that doesn't have a romantic relationship, which is awesome. I loved this book, I love the characters, and the whole world is so cool. It's like this crazy world with music and all that stuff, and you have a male and female character who are just friends; they're not anything more than that. Which is awesome.
Overall, these books are all great recommendations for those looking for stories with little to no romance.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everyone it's haey and today we're going to be talking about books that reflect my life AKA books with little to no romance so if you're like me and you are eternally single or you just broke up with your boyfriend or maybe you're in a fight with your boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever maybe you just want to read a book that doesn't have romance I can totally appreciate that because honestly Publishers publish what is going to sell so romance in the ya section is something that does really sell so there are a lot of books that have romance and it's it's kind of hard to find ones without so today I'm going to be talking about some that have little to no romance so either romance isn't a key factor in the book or there is absolutely none so without further Ado let's get into it so first up is a monster calls by Patrick NES this is a beautiful story all about family and friendship and belonging it is all about a boy who his mother is dying of cancer and he he ends up seeing this monster in his backyard let me see but it's not I'm trying to find a picture of the monster but like struggles there we go so he sees this monster in his backyard and I highly recommend getting this Illustrated Edition by the way it's done by the same illustrator as the Harry Potter Illustrated editions it's amazing but anyways he sees this monster in his backyard and he's afraid at first but this monster ends up being his friend and helping him through a really hard time so it's all about kind of getting through hard things and how friendship and love and family can help you get through those things so it's an amazing story and has zero romance next up is The Book Thief by Marcus suac you guys probably know by now that this is my absolute favorite book I adore it I adore this story it is all about lisel and she is a young girl who is living in Germany in Nazi Germany and it's obviously a very difficult time for her to be living in it's a terrible time to be a little girl because there are all sorts of terrible things happening that she doesn't understand and this story is once again about friendship and family and that love getting you through anything and like kind of how that love can last forever last past all boundaries it's just an incredible incredible Story and there's only like the tiniest hint of maybe a little bit of like Crush cuty romance but it's mostly in my opinion kind of more of a friendship thing a friendship affection and it's honestly a beautiful story and I highly highly recommend it next up is Between Shades of Gray and salt to the by Brutus a Petes I know for sure this one doesn't have any romance I don't believe this one has any if anything it might have the tiniest bit but it's definitely not the focus of the story the focus of both of these stories is the plight of the characters they are both living in both of these books living near the time of World War II this one takes place in Lithuania and follows a genocide that you don't normally hear about and this one is them fleeing from Germany um as the Soviets are invading so it is just about these characters and their will to survive and how they're trying to overcome everything and persevere in the face of absolute Terror so it's an amazing story and like I said I don't remember if this one has romance but if it does it's not a key role in the book most of it for both of these stories is about their like their struggle to survive and it's honestly an amazing story and they're so great like these historical fictions are
