A CHEAP ACTION CAMERA THAT DOESN'T SUCK [ThiEye 4K Review]

Welcome to Another Geeka Video: Reviewing the Thy Eye 4K Action Camera

As always, we're constantly on the lookout for GoPro killers, and I'm excited to share with you my review of this latest action camera, the Thy Eye 4K. Let's start with a quick physical overview of the unit. The Thy Eye 4K is constructed mainly of plastic, with a grippy surface around the edge that provides a comfortable grip for your hand. Alongside the Eye logo on the bottom, you'll also find a recording LED and a Wi-Fi indicator light, which provide an idea of the camera's status. On the top right-hand side, there's also the actual camera lens and sensor, along with a bod front glass that facilitates the very wide nature of the lens.

The power button is located on the front of the camera, allowing for both on/off functionality and tap-based mode changes from photo to video playback and settings. These changes are all accessible using a singular button on top, which provides easy access to the various modes and features of the camera. Another notable feature is the Wi-Fi button, which enables the camera's Wi-Fi functionality with a long press. However, it also triggers recording when tapped, making it an excellent implementation for this price bracket.

Talking to Wi-Fi on a camera with this price bracket is the best implementation I've seen yet. It works well, with just a couple of bugs that don't compromise too much. The camera transmits its own Wi-Fi hotspot with an SSID and password, which you then need to key into your phone to access. This means that when connected to the camera's Wi-Fi, you can't access any phone functionality like Twitter. Instead, you'll need to use the Wi-Fi solely for transmission to the camera. This is both a good thing and a bad thing – on the one hand, it prevents unnecessary data usage, but on the other hand, it may be inconvenient if you want to stay connected while recording.

The Wi-Fi implementation has several benefits. Firstly, it ensures that your 3G or Wi-Fi allowance isn't eaten up by data transmission from the camera. Secondly, it means that the camera can work anywhere, without relying on a separate device for connectivity. This makes it an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts and professionals who need to film in various locations.

Alongside the Wi-Fi functionality, the Thy Eye 4K also boasts a microphone for internal audio recording. The microphone is located along the top of the camera, providing clear and crisp sound quality for your recordings. Additionally, there's a battery door that houses one 1100mAh battery, which comes included with the camera. This means that you don't need to worry about additional costs or hassle when replacing the battery.

Another notable feature is the standard tripod screw Mount, which is located along the bottom of the camera. This provides easy mounting options for your tripod or stabilizer, allowing for smooth and stable footage. Alongside the tripod screw Mount, there's also another recording LED indicator that shines brightly, even in low-light conditions. This makes it incredibly useful when filming in situations where visibility is limited.

The Thy Eye 4K also features a Micro SD card slot and multiple micro-USB ports for charging. While these are not particularly exciting features, they do provide necessary options for expanding storage capacity or keeping the camera charged on the go.

Now that we've covered the basics of the Thy Eye 4K, let's move on to our audio tests. We put the camera through an outside vlogging test at 4K30 frames per second, with moderate wind and a slightly overcast sky. The results are impressive – the audio is clear and crisp, even in windy conditions.

However, if you're looking for a camera that excels in low-light situations, the Thy Eye 4K may not be your best bet. As we all know, small sensor sizes like those found in action cameras can result in poor low-light performance. While the camera will still capture some decent footage in bright conditions, it's essential to remember that this is not a substitute for proper lighting.

Despite these limitations, the Thy Eye 4K provides an excellent balance between quality and price. It may not match the standards set by GoPro models like the Hero5 or Hero4, but it does offer a fraction of the cost. This makes it an attractive option for those looking to upgrade their action camera without breaking the bank.

In conclusion, the Thy Eye 4K is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable and feature-packed action camera at an affordable price. Its Wi-Fi implementation, microphone, and tripod screw Mount make it an excellent tool for outdoor enthusiasts and professionals alike. While it may have its limitations in low-light conditions, these can be mitigated with proper planning and equipment.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome back to another geeka video and today I'm reviewing this thy eye 4K action camera we constantly gone about GoPro killers and let me tell you this is the closest I've got so far as always let's start with a quick physical overview the unit is of course constructed mainly of plastic with aine grippy surface around the edge and a brush aluminum effect on the front alongside the Eye logo on the bottom there's also recording LED on the front alongside a Wi-Fi indicator light so you know what's going on on the status of the camera on the top right there's also the actual camera lens and sensor with a bod front glass to facilitate for the very wide nature of the lens and the lenses you'd see on other action cameras GoPros that kind of thing the power button is also located on the front and you're holding for on and off functionality and tap was the camera is on to change the modes from photo video playback and settings those are all accessible using that singular button on the top we see a Wi-Fi button which not only enables the camera's Wi-Fi functionality with a long press but also triggers recording with a tap talking to Wi-Fi on a camera with this price bracket is the best implementation I've seen yet it works well with a couple of bugs but nothing terribly compromising in short the camera transmits its own Wi-Fi hotspot with an SSID and a password which you then key into your phone so that basically means that when you're connected to the Wi-Fi of the camera you can't access any of the functionality on your phone such as Twitter it just won't work you need to use the Wi-Fi solely for transmission to the camera and that's kind of a good thing and a bad thing it's the way pretty much all cameras with Wi-Fi hotspots work and it won't dig into your 3G or Wi-Fi allowance and it will work anywhere that you decide to take the camera also along the top we have our microphone for internal audio recording and along the bottom a battery door which houses one 1100 mAh battery which comes included the standard tripod screw Mount is a great addition also along the bottom alongside another recording LED indicator incredibly useful when the front of the device cannot be seen say you've got it mounted on bicycle handlebars that kind of thing those sides also play host to a large amount of functionality with up and down arrows for menu navigation on the one side and a Micro SD card slot micro HDMI port and micr USB port for charging on the other side overall nothing out of the ordinary but definitely covers all the necessary basic now let's take a look at the audio daytime and nighttime tests of course the recording of this unit itself because that's what you really came for this is an outside vlogging test with the eye action camera at 4K 30 frames per second this would with moderate wind and a slightly overcast Sky if you didn't want to use this camera for a little vogin so you saw the test the audio is soar the night T quality also not the greatest but if you came into this review under the impression that this would make a great low light camera you're sadly very mistaken the small sensor size of any action camera results in poor low light performance and providing you use this in an environment with enough light you'll be good in 9 out of 10 cases when people are using GoPro style cameras to record they're actually recording outdoor activities in kind of daytime or decent lighting and overall while this definitely isn't GoPro standard it is a fraction of the price and provides a nice balance between the really cheap Chinese knockoffs and the really expensive Hero 5 Hero 4 cameras so overall it really isn't bad links to pick this up in Amazon are of course in the description and as always please do make sure to share this video on Facebook Twitter Instagram if you did enjoy it drop a like rating below to bump this up in YouTube's algorithms or something
