Microsoft FINALLY Fixed This...

**Microsoft Surface Products Get a Major Boost with AI Features**

As we take a look at the latest Microsoft Surface products, it's clear that the biggest story is not just the shift to Apple Silicon architecture, but rather the emphasis on AI features in this new version of Windows 11. While some might roll their eyes at the mention of AI, even I was impressed by one feature in particular - Recall.

**Introducing Recall: A Photographic Memory for Your Computer Screen**

Recall is essentially a photographic memory for your computer screen that you can use to recall something that you had seen in the past. Here's how it works: when enabled, Windows actively takes screenshots of your display, which are then scanned using AI models to match a search query to relevant text and images of things that appeared prior on your screen.

For example, maybe you're trying to find a food recipe from a few weeks ago that you forgot to bookmark online or maybe you're trying to scan for a PowerPoint slide that you need to refer back to for research. To search, all you have to do is type in keywords into Recall's text field, and it'll give you relevant results based on text or image cues.

**Microsoft Assures Data Security**

Microsoft assures us that all of the data captured here is not only encrypted but also stored on device only, with nothing going up to the cloud. And what's more, Microsoft is giving power to the end user in order to add guardrails for what Recall can and can't see - you can do this based on application, or if you just don't care about this feature outright, you can simply turn it off and go about your life.

**Other AI Demos Showcased**

I was also given some other AI demos like the one for Ms Paint, which takes a text prompt along with your own scribbles and doodles in order to generate unique-looking artwork on the fly as you go. This was really neat to try out, despite a slightly gimmicky vibe.

What was impressive here was that the stable diffusion models running in the background were strictly on device, not on the cloud, and operated without affecting core CPU or GPU performance - all thanks to an NPU built into the Snapdragon X chip with a whopping 40 TOPS of performance and runs without much power draw as well.

**NPU: A Key Component in Windows 11 PCs**

In fact, NPU is going to be such an important thing in Windows 11 PCs over the next few months that it's actually something you can now observe in the task manager, along with CPU, RAM, GPU, etc.

**Pricing for Surface Products**

Now let's discuss the all-important pricing for these products. I'd argue that this generation of surface products is more competitive than usual - both the Surface Pro and Laptop start at $999 for 16 gigs of RAM, standard 256 GB SSD storage, and a Snapdragon X+ chip with a 10-core CPU.

You can option a gorgeous OLED panel on the Surface Pro that peaks at 900 nits brightness, which will especially come in handy if you plan on using this outdoors even remotely. While I've always had a soft spot for the Surface Pro, I actually think the better value this year is with the Surface Laptop - keeping in mind that a lot of users out there will probably want a type cover to use their Pro as a pseudo-laptop.

**The Actual Surface Laptop Doesn't Have Extra Costs**

The actual Surface Laptop itself doesn't have the extra added costs to make it a complete package. I absolutely need to get these devices in to say for sure, but I think that alone makes it a very compelling value proposition. Let me know what you think about these devices in the comments below and otherwise thanks for watching this video on Dany Channel.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enMicrosoft just announced brand new Surface products for 2024 with probably the biggest changes to hardware and software we've seen in years let's jump in and find out what they're all about access granted so for the past hour so I've had the chance to play around with both the Surface Pro as well as the surface laptop in both the 13.8 as well as 15in configurations just as always with the surface stuff the physical design is really awesome here it's not like the surface pro has changed all that much in the past few Generations it still has that tried and true 2in one form factor that's been working for them though it can be optioned with a beautiful OLED display as well as the addition of a more premium type cover this is the pro Flex which not only has the built-in cavity to hide your pen but this time around you can actually take the keyboard off and use it wirelessly over Bluetooth I can see a couple of use cases for this like maybe you're at a cafe for example and you're giving a PowerPoint presentation to someone you can split the keyboard out and use that as a remote while the screen's facing the person you're giving the presentation to or maybe you're relaxing on the couch browsing the web while the Surface Pro is chilling on your coffee table well thanks to the addition of a battery and added rigidity this type cover actually feels better to use on your lap and will last something like 40 hours on a single charge though because it actually charges while connected to the Surface Pro itself realistically you probably won't see this running out of juice all that often well they are still selling the Standalone type cover it's a shame that Microsoft doesn't include these in the box with the surface since arguably they are mission critical to navigating Windows properly but it's also not helping that the more premium prolex keyboard retails for 350 bucks on their own moving right along compared to the new Surface Pro the surface laptop actually looks somewhat different especially with these thinner bezels but especially on the 13.8 in model it actually almost looks a bit like the surface laptop go in terms of overall footprint compared to other 14in machines also as always with these surfaces the colorways look absolutely amazing I love the gold option but the blue oh my God in the right lighting these 2024 surfaces can sit pretty all day with their clean looking designs but the real meat and potatoes of the story lies within both the software and Hardware changes which Microsoft believes can actually beat Apple at their own game and at least on First Impressions they might be on to something something on one side of the coin these 2024 services are powered by the newest arm-based laptop chips from Qualcomm the Snapdragon X Elite and the Snapdragon X Plus s so's which aims to close the gap and even trade blows with Apple's own M3 chip when it comes to Raw performance this of course does sound good in theory though in practice the bottleneck especially when it comes to arm powerered PCS has always been Windows itself and how unoptimized it was for the hardware I look back at Microsoft's other attempts at arm such as the Surface Pro X but this time around things are looking better not just thanks to the snappy Snapdragon chip but also because Microsoft supposedly rebuilt Windows 11 from the ground up in order to accommodate These Arm chips better visually the UI might not look all that different from before but they are touting native arm support for around 87% of app minutes used by most people on windows with a bunch of asterisks attached to it this on top of a brand new x86 emulation layer that allows you to run Legacy programs with minimal hiccups you can tell Microsoft is chasing after the success of Rosetta 2 that apple had implemented in its transition from Intel x86 to Apple silicon and from the cherry-pick demos I've seen here at at Microsoft of it in action when it works it works fast this isn't even mentioning all the benefits of using an arm s so such as more efficient power usage and of course better battery life Microsoft is claiming 16 hours of active web browsing on the 13.8 in model and you're probably going to get even more on that on the 15in because naturally it has a bigger battery all of this with hypothetically comparable performance to what you're getting on current gen Apple silicon products though of course we don't have performance figures right now that we've actually tested and confirmed because we're looking at these products right now literally as they're being announced looking beyond the architecture shift from x86 to arm probably the biggest story with regards to these new Surface products is the emphasis on AI features in this new version of Windows 11 now I can practically see people that are watching this video right now rolling their eyes through my camera lens but even for me as someone that's normally skeptical of this stuff I'll admit that one of these features stood out to me as something that can be quite useful in the daytoday it's called recall which is best described as a photographic memory for your computer screen that you can use to recall something that you had seen in the past how this works is when it's enabled windows actively takes screenshots of your display laptop Hardware as well as this co-pilot plus PC stuff definitely give his video a watch as well it should be up when mine goes up too but now let's discuss the all important pricing for all this
