OnePlus Not 4 Review: A Balance of Performance and Value
I recently had the opportunity to spend a month with the OnePlus Not 4, a mid-range smartphone that promises to deliver exceptional performance at an affordable price. My experience with this phone has been largely positive, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on its strengths and weaknesses.
The first thing I noticed about the Not 4 is its impressive performance. While I recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius during demanding benchmarks, something like the Realme GT60 with the same Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 chip would easily reach 45-46 degrees. However, OnePlus has cleverly throttled the performance when the phone starts to heat up, which does not significantly affect gaming performance but results in slightly lower benchmark numbers.
OnePlus has also promised four years of OS updates and six years of security updates on this phone, which is even better than what Samsung promises in their mid-range devices. I was impressed to receive the August security patch as soon as I started using the Not 4, which was quicker than even the S24 Ultra. Throughout my month-long review, I found the cameras on the Not 4 to be fairly reliable, with decent image quality and good dynamic range.
While the main sensor has been downgraded from what I'd expect in a high-end phone, the images still do not have a significant downgrade in quality compared to other phones like the Realme GT60. The colors are well-preserved, and the dynamic range is excellent. However, ultra-wide-angle shots can be lacking in detail and dynamic range.
One area where the Not 4 falls short is the lack of a telephoto lens. While digitally cropped 2x portrait rates look nice enough, they cannot match the quality of the Motorola H50 Pro's 3x Portrait rates, which often exhibit better subject focus and punchy colors. The same can be said for selfies, where the Not 4's pale images and limited recording capabilities at 1080p 30 FPS make it less appealing than other options.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Not 4's battery life is one of its strongest suits. With a massive 5,500mAh battery and a fast 100W charger, I was able to get around 7-8 hours of screen time on an intensive use case and up to 9 hours or more when using the phone at home. The Not 4's display is also a highlight, with excellent haptics that make interacting with it a joy.
Overall, my experience with the OnePlus Not 4 has been positive. It's one of the safest mid-range phones available under 30,000 rupees, offering a balance of performance and value that few other options can match. While camera enthusiasts may want to consider alternatives like the Motorola H50 Pro or Realme 13 Pro Plus, the Not 4 remains an excellent choice for those looking for a reliable and feature-packed phone without breaking the bank.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the OnePlus Not 4 to anyone looking for a mid-range smartphone that checks all the right boxes. Its fast fluid performance, excellent battery life, and great display make it an ideal choice for everyday users. While some may find minor drawbacks in camera performance or image processing, these can be overlooked given the overall value proposition of this phone.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everybody pratima here and I have been using the new OnePlus n 4 for exactly 3 weeks now and here is my honest detailed review of this phone coming in 2024 all of the OnePlus devices are great value for money the OnePlus 12 12r the OnePlus Pad 2 notb 3 Pro not C4 not C4 uh not the not C4 light no and if you look at the overall specs of the N 4 it is also a pretty well-rounded mid-range phone but there are a few things OnePlus should have done better with this device starting with the fact that OnePlus has finally settled by including cheap blare apps and recommendations in the UI just like real me and Oppo phones it's disappointing I know and I have a feeling things are going to get even worse in the future unless the community speaks up about it anyway other than the bloww situation I have loved using this device first of all I really like the usion of this metal and glass B design it looks so much different from the rest of the bunch actually this phone reminds me of the Huawei P10 from 2017 oh the good old days you also get Metal Frames here instead of the usual plastic that we get on every mid-range phone so that is nice too and because of this the N 4 is a tad bit heavier and I really like this overall heft it has a very premium Hands-On feel but one thing you have have to be careful with the N 4 is with the handling because this phone is quite slippery actually I have already dropped it like a few times another problem with the metal phone design is with 5G reception to solve this OnePlus says they have used new antennas and technology that utilize the metal back to amplify the signal and during my time I did not encounter any problems with 4G and 5G connectivity likewise you get a basic ip65 dusta water resistance here but I am surprised to see one plus not including any kind of gorilla glass protection for the display at this price most phones come with either gorilla glass victus or the gorilla glass victus 2 protection now quality wise this display is quite good though I love the fact that the bezels here are almost non-existent and the flat screen is a bonus for me since I play a lot of AAA games and I don't want accidental touches which is something you get with curve displays but there are a few things about the Nord Forge display that are not the most competitive like even though the N 4 has a good enough 1100 mths of brightness in high brightness mode it screen is not as bright as the real gt60 and even the Motorola H50 Pro while using it outdoors although HDR video playback on YouTube and streaming platforms works amazingly well here and the haptic feedback on the OnePlus n 4 is to die for like seriously it has one of the most precise tight feedback I have used on a mid-range device recently the gt60 is somewhat close enough but the vibration feedback that you get here while using the alert slider or the UI is something else so if you're someone who types A Lot sends a lot of messages and emails from your phone you are going to have a good time interacting with the wobbles N4 I do have to let you know that the fingerprint sensor is placed a bit lower so you might have to get used to that also the stereo speakers here are not the most balanced they are loud and they do the job for you but I've heard better anyway another thing that I really really liked about this phone is its performance I mean when I started using it my first reaction was wow this phone is fast OnePlus has actually optimize it quite well I am also very impressed with the gaming results here you can play pubg at around 85 to 90 FPS and even games like genin impact play smoothly with good stability and the best thing is this phone does not heat up or throttle while gaming for a longer period of time either it does get warm after like 30 minutes into games like genin impact but I have noticed that the heat is not localized in one area it gets dissipated throughout the chassis and because metal is a good conductor of heat the phone cools down relatively quickly too even while running demanding benchmarks I recorded a Max of 43° on the N 4 while something like the realm gt60 with the same Snapdragon 7 plus gen 3 chip would could reach 45 to 46° very easily OnePlus has actually been clever about this because seems like they have throttle the performance a little when the phone starts to heat up this does not affect the gaming performance so much but you will get slightly lower Benchmark numbers on the N 4 than other Snapdragon 7 plus gen 3 phones but in real life you will not find even a hint of starter on the N 4 while using the UI or multitasking or playing games OnePlus has also promised 4 years of os and 6 years of security updates on this phone which is even better than what Samsung promises in their mid-range devices I have also received the August security patch here already which I think was quicker than even the s24 ultra and after multiple updates in my one month of use I have found the cameras on the N 4 to be Fairly reliable too OnePlus has downgraded on the main sensor this time but I don't know if it's the high-end image processor work the images do not have a downgrade in quality comparing it with the realm gt60 I am happy to report that the N 4 did not disappoint the details are there and the dynamic range is well preserved too I won't say OnePlus does better than real me exactly but it competes quite well in fact I found the colors to be more digestible on the N 4 than the realm gt60 or even the Motorola H50 Pro for that matter when it comes to ultra wideangle images they are nothing to write home about with okay details and slightly worse dynamic range than the primary images the only thing I missed while using the N 4 is the lack of a telephoto lens yes the digitally cropped 2x Port rates from it look nice enough but just look at these 3x Port rates from the Motorola H50 Pro it has much better subject Focus sometimes The Punchy colors on Motorola do make the portraits look a bit overbearing but most of the time the 3x P rates from Motorola look more appealing and if you're someone who loves taking self and selfie videos I have bad news for you first most selfies from the not 4 appear a bit pale and second it can only record 1080p 30 FPS selfie videos which if you compare with Motorola's 4K selfie videos they are not as good from the back camera though you can click up to 4K 60 FPS videos and Eis works well to stabilize those uh OnePlus does need to tone down the contrast a bit with updates but other than that the 4K videos are workable from the N 4 lastly another best thing about the OnePlus not 4 has to be its battery life like with most OnePlus phones you get a big 5,500 mAh battery here and the backup is just superb even when using the phone at constant 120 HZ I was getting about 7.5 to 8 hours of screen on time that to on an intensive kind of use and uh when I was home all day watching videos the screen on time would go around 9 hours or more plus even when the battery is about to to Die the 100 W charger that comes with the phone is super fast it gets the phone from 0 to 100% within 30 minutes so overall to some of my experience I had a pretty good time using the wus N 4 I believe this is one of the safest mid-range phones out there that you can buy under 30,000 rupees I loved its fast fluid performance interacting with the display is great thanks to the excellent haptics uh you get an all day excellent battery life and it is easily the best looking for in its class overall a pretty well balanced phone but if camera is your top most priority and you like to click a lot of selfies and portraits you should definitely go with the Motorola H50 Pro or the real me 13 Pro Plus both of them come with a dedicated 3x lens and you can take some stunning portraits like these and by the way you can also go with something like the honor 200 which time again is available under 30,000 rupees that phone is a better camera phone than the N 4 for sure so everybody that was all for my full one month review of the OnePlus not 4 I will be coming up with a different
