SECRET ROOM - AMD 16 CORE 'THREADRIPPER' MOTHERBOARD

Computex Coverage 2017: AMD's Zenith Extreme Motherboard Hands-On

We're excited to bring you an early hands-on look at some of the freshest products from Computex 2017. In this video, we're taking a closer look at Seussian's new flagship AMD motherboard, which is rumored to be based on AMD's upcoming Threadripper processor. As we can see, the board itself doesn't even have a box, but that's because it's still top-secret material.

As we begin our hands-on experience with the Zenith Extreme, we notice that the board has an LGA socket – specifically, AMD's new Socket TR4. This marks the first time for AMD to introduce such a socket on their consumer-grade products. With 4094 pins, this socket is quite extensive and requires a screwdriver to open up the cover. Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the design of this socket is quite unique, with two CPU chips seemingly installed in a single socket.

The board supports quad-channel memory and features an X399 chipset, which is another nod towards Intel's product line. The addition of 802.11 AD Wi-Fi and a 10 GbE network card further enhance the connectivity options on this system. Furthermore, there are two eight-pin power connectors, adding to the overall credibility of AMD's high-end workstation platform.

Another interesting feature we notice is the use of Asus's custom memory module. In typical m.2 SSDs, you usually see PCIe or SATA drives, but in this instance, Asus has designed a new custom module that provides better cooling and keeps the SSD tucked away safely under the chipset cooler.

We're also excited to note the presence of SLI certification on this motherboard, making it perfect for those who want to build high-performance gaming rigs using multiple GPUs.

While we can't confirm the exact specifications or pricing just yet, based on our experience with the Zenith Extreme, we can safely say that this system will come in at around $599. Considering the CPU alone is expected to cost over a thousand dollars, this system won't be for everyone. However, if you're looking for an all-in-one solution for high-performance workstations or enthusiast-level gaming, then Seussian's Zenith Extreme might just be the perfect fit.

In any case, it's great to see such powerful and innovative products from AMD at Computex 2017. With their latest advancements in CPU technology, these new offerings are set to shake up the market once again.
