Computex Coverage 2017: AMD's Zenith Extreme Motherboard Hands-On
We're excited to bring you an early hands-on look at some of the freshest products from Computex 2017. In this video, we're taking a closer look at Seussian's new flagship AMD motherboard, which is rumored to be based on AMD's upcoming Threadripper processor. As we can see, the board itself doesn't even have a box, but that's because it's still top-secret material.
As we begin our hands-on experience with the Zenith Extreme, we notice that the board has an LGA socket – specifically, AMD's new Socket TR4. This marks the first time for AMD to introduce such a socket on their consumer-grade products. With 4094 pins, this socket is quite extensive and requires a screwdriver to open up the cover. Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the design of this socket is quite unique, with two CPU chips seemingly installed in a single socket.
The board supports quad-channel memory and features an X399 chipset, which is another nod towards Intel's product line. The addition of 802.11 AD Wi-Fi and a 10 GbE network card further enhance the connectivity options on this system. Furthermore, there are two eight-pin power connectors, adding to the overall credibility of AMD's high-end workstation platform.
Another interesting feature we notice is the use of Asus's custom memory module. In typical m.2 SSDs, you usually see PCIe or SATA drives, but in this instance, Asus has designed a new custom module that provides better cooling and keeps the SSD tucked away safely under the chipset cooler.
We're also excited to note the presence of SLI certification on this motherboard, making it perfect for those who want to build high-performance gaming rigs using multiple GPUs.
While we can't confirm the exact specifications or pricing just yet, based on our experience with the Zenith Extreme, we can safely say that this system will come in at around $599. Considering the CPU alone is expected to cost over a thousand dollars, this system won't be for everyone. However, if you're looking for an all-in-one solution for high-performance workstations or enthusiast-level gaming, then Seussian's Zenith Extreme might just be the perfect fit.
In any case, it's great to see such powerful and innovative products from AMD at Computex 2017. With their latest advancements in CPU technology, these new offerings are set to shake up the market once again.

to believe this we are in the back room we are getting an early hands-on to give you some idea how fresh this product is this is not even a real box for it look it's like i don't even know what this says but like it probably says like top secret or something like that because inside here we have a seuss's new flagship amd motherboard one that is for a socket that quite frankly is probably still quite a ways out from being something you can actually buy this right here is the zenith extreme you'll have to give me a minute i've got my uh 24 pin connector all ready to go so i can get all the rgb lighting illuminated this is going to be for amd's upcoming well rumored thread ripper product so that's going to be again rumored 12 14 or 16 core cpus in a very high end enthusiast slash workstation type platform and this board has all kinds of features some of which we've seen before and some of which we haven't so at its heart we've got their brand new socket tr4 this is an lga socket the first time for amd on the consumer i mean if you want to call it consumer but on the consumer side of things it has 4094 pins and you need a freaking screwdriver to open up the cover and when we do that we see why this thing looks extraordinarily fragile and has a configuration that i've never really seen before it almost looks like it's two cpus being installed in a single socket which when you think about the fact that these things are going to have 64 pci express lanes hmm might give you some hints as to how exactly it is that amd is building up this sort of modular zen architecture cpu here looking pretty bananas it supports quad channel memory and oh hold on a minute what the actual hell is that this is what asus is calling a dim.2 slot now we've seen m.2 ssds before in fact it's got one under the chipset cooler right down here but this is the new way so asus is building custom memory module looking things they're still running off pci express so it's not like a memory ssd opt-in thing or anything like that but you can put two on here for better cooling without having your ssd sticking out of the middle of the board it's running an x 399 chipset another obvious move from amd to make their board sound kind of like the intel one but like better we're going all the way back to the athlon xp performance rating days apparently it's got two eight pin power connectors which again adds uh some more credibility to my theory about it basically being two cpus in there and it's got this is crazy we've got 802.11 ad wi-fi so that's like multi-gigabit wi-fi on this thing it's going to come with a 10 gigabit network card it's got freaking lights to tell you which audio port you're plugging in from the back and it's sli certified it's i mean what else can we say about this other than that you're going to have to sell your car if you want to own one i'm estimating no one here will confirm or deny but this thing is going to probably cost in the 599 us dollar range plus the fact that you're going to be spending like a thousand bucks plus on a cpu to go in it but at least hey you get an rgb backplate right so thanks for watching guys our
