What’s New in iOS 12.1 Beta 2 - New Emoji & Charging Fix

iOS 12.1 has reached beta 2 and with it come new features and a few important bug fixes welcome everyone it is Andrew here from Apple Insider we're going to walk you through everything new in the latest beta and then do a few benchmarks

the first notable feature is a bunch of new Emoji apple says there are more than 70 new Emoji coming in this update we're not going to go through all of those Emoji in this video and in fact we already have a separate video out covering all of those new Emoji but we do want to mention a few standouts that you may be excited to see

there's a ton including the new coldface there's lobsters there's llamas there is new softball frisbee Lacross there's Outdoor Adventures luggage characters with red hair gray hair curly hair no hair and just a ton more those are going to be coming not only to iOS but to the Apple watch and even to the Mac

another one in particular that we want to call out is the updated iPhone icon it actually is updated and looks more like the iPhone 10 or the 10s the 10s Max one of those different phones either way it's been updated compared to how it has looked in the past just a small tweak but of course it's nice to see apple updating their icons to go with their latest devices

we saw a similar refresh when the Apple watch came out and it went from an older looking watch to an actual Apple watch model for the Emoji the next change was to the charging

a few people a very small percentage of people were having issues charging their iPhone XS or 10s Max basically the cord be plugged in and if the phone was asleep it would not start charging until you tap the screen to wake it up that issue has been resolved so on the latest beta you plug that cord in you know that it's going to wake up and start charging right away

you won't ever wake up in the morning with a phone that isn't charged before we make our way to the benchmarking

we did want to hit on one feature that we did not include like last time we didn't have the latest handsets out but we do this time and that is for the aperture adjustment the blur adjustment feature now works in the camera app itself while you're taking the shot

you can see we have that little icon in the top right hand corner has that little F value you can adjust that while you are taking the picture moving on to our geekbench results

we ran that CPU test we ran it a few different times we compared it to the last 12.1 beta as well as to the actual release of iOS 12

results are pretty promising iOS 12 get some pretty stellar numbers around 4,200 for that single score and about 10,500 for the multicore this time we're actually seeing scores of around 4,800 for the single core and 10,600 for the multi so definitely some improvements as far as performance goes

that includes everything that we've seen so far in iOS 12.1 beta 2 let us know down below if you have found anything else
