The Wizard's Workshop: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Restoring a Classic Car
As we take a closer look at the current project, it's clear that the owner has taken on a monumental task. The car in question is a Ferrari, which was returned from its journey and is now awaiting restoration. The first step in the process was to assess the damage caused by the greasy Deezy Wizards' previous work. The paint on one side of the car had been badly damaged, with peeling paint and a large hole in the top. However, the good news is that the manual transmission has been converted and is working smoothly.
The next step was to take a closer look at the wizard's workshop and see what had been done to the car. The owner noticed that the oil level was slightly overfilled, which led them to investigate further. They discovered that the car had a tiny leak in the turbo, which they were able to repair relatively easily. However, the real challenge came when they examined the manual transmission. It turned out that the 300D Euro transmission had been converted into a manual, and the owner was impressed by the wizard's ingenuity.
The drive shaft proved to be another interesting point of contention. The owner discovered that the standard 300D drive shaft was too short for the car, so they had to source an alternative solution from a Honda CR-V. They then welded the modified drive shaft into place, creating a custom fit that has worked seamlessly. The clutch and pedals were also sourced from the 300D, and the owner was impressed by the attention to detail.
As we delve deeper into the workshop, we find the back of the drive shaft, which had been lengthened to accommodate the custom solution. The owner is amazed by the wizard's ingenuity in finding a way to make it work. They also take a moment to appreciate the unique muffler setup, which features kidneys that double as exhausts.
The conversation then turns to the topic of roadsters, with the owner stating that they are "cool" but not quite on par with the Ferrari. They reveal that there is sentimental attachment to one of the cars, and discuss the merits of different designs.
Finally, the article touches on some behind-the-scenes notes from the owner's social media accounts. They express gratitude for their supporters' enthusiasm, particularly when it comes to merchandise and stickers. The article concludes with a few glimpses into the world of Hoovy's Garage, including new t-shirt styles and a nod to the classic Woody wagon design.

Hoovy's Garage: Where the Magic Happens
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enall right here we go what's a battery when you've just done a massive engine out the bill's going to be good oh there we go oh yeah wizard is wizard it's been so long oh all right welcome to movies garage the dumbest automotive channel in all of youtube and this is my recently repurchased 1984 mercedes 300 sd if you saw my last video you'll know that i sold this car years ago but it's actually the very first car in hui's garage to be featured on the youtube channel six years ago it's also my honeymoon car as the car wizard calls it because the wizard and i sort of cemented our friendship lifelong bond in this car driving to amelia island well in 2016. so that's coming up on six years as well and i bought this along with a buick roadmaster estate wagon that is outside that i also really regretted selling but it's not the actual old car that i owned unlike this this is the exact car this is the one that really i should have never sold and now i have it back but i may sell it again because i told myself i'm only keeping one but the wizard is so excited that i bought this car back that he wants to see it right away he wants to inspect his work from six years ago he actually manual swapped this car was originally an automatic now has a four speed from a euro 300d i'm getting attacked by geese anyway we're gonna take it up to him and also he has a lot of good news for me apparently no bad news on this trip and hopefully not a massive bill with the ferrari 355 and my shelby gt350 so let's hit the road in the old greasy deezy hello wizard license oh look another one multiple greasy daisies thumbs up it's healed wizard hello this car really really takes me back it looks familiar doesn't it yes this is so special are you getting emotional here okay i kind of am you know i uh oh my goodness it's like all these emotions are flooding back to me right now well i took my wife on our first date in this car but well this is our honeymoon this is yes i told them it's your honeymoon yes us together uh going to amelia island i even had you drive for always i was on my laptop working on something i don't know but uh wow here it is i know you have somewhere your own 420 sel the v8 gasoline one somewhere it's back there getting some new upper control arms and that's another 300 sd it is this is actually how we met was through mercedes diesels on an online forum for mercedes i had bought one about a year before you you bought one it was the first person on the diesel forum that was actually like local and close to me so we kind of met because of that but things really didn't blossom into our wonderful relationship that we have now until well probably this trip right yeah this was this was cemented the deal here i think yes yes we we uh we constantly we didn't well what are we i don't know like consuming we constipated i guess or whatever i don't know i don't know but anyway this is one of the early examples of you being a wizard how you got your name the car wizard because you made a four-speed work on a 300 sd and as far as i know even in europe i don't think they made a 300 sd turbo stick right i think there were some gasoline and non i don't think in a 126 oh i think they were all automatic so you did some things some real wizard things to make this possible something i didn't show in the original video but i haven't seen it and at least underside in five plus years so we can check on your handiwork to see how it's holding up but things that don't work since i've had it this antenna well it doesn't pop up unfortunately i know these things need to be lubed regularly in this car sat so that's not working and the seats definitely need to go off for uh the horsehair padding replacement because they actually used horse hair for padding instead of foam in the seats something in your car which is the late 80s they fixed it because now it's foam so it doesn't break down but it starts to smell like a horse and then you're just sitting on the springs as it breaks down it sucks so that needs to be fixed but otherwise seems fine but to get me by i think that bmw i gave you had some cassette tapes in it it did i had a cypress heel tape and guardians of the galaxy tape or something yeah there's a lot of good tips so the cassette deck still on this thing i believe it works so let's go grab some of the cassettes all right yeah there's your car with uh what's that flag that's blackbeard's pirate flag that was his official flag on his ship oh yeah beautiful yeah there's the uh 89 and 91 seats which are way way better 101 000 miles nice car i love this car yeah i saw your video so this is the first bmw that i've brought up to you in years and then this is what you do with it absolutely really yes seriously it's beautiful you just took a sledgehammer to it me and mrs wizard did it was fun too so the whole purpose of buying this thing was just to hit it repeatedly right as all bmws deserve all right well um it did save me a pretty hefty bill so i guess oh my god okay yeah let's get some guardians of the galaxy jimin hendrix cypress hill yeah that'll work that'll keep me entertained uh but you said you had some good news for me we walked past it yeah we do the 355 is on the ground yes it's about 95 percent done i had the wheels refinished they are back on new michelins it's got an ugly lug nut though you might have to put a new lug nut there it looks like just one wow so we have it back together it's running it runs runs very well is it driving it's driving i'm gonna have to drive it oh yeah well you don't have the hatch on yet right in case there's any things we need to tidy up we left some of the stuff apart like the hatch and the wheel liners okay do our road test final checks and then you're going to turn it back to me yes but no bill yet not yet i can drive it though you can drive it okay well i'll do that in a little bit but also mustang has some fun going down huh yep danielson's been working on it he's got your park lamps brake lamps working turn signals wired in so that was a nice discovery i had no brake lamps none at all i knew about the no turn signals and that kind of stuff but i had no brake lights which is quite dangerous i knew the headlights were really really dim but basically not working so that was something simple it was a melted wire oh okay all right and then the uh instrument binnacle is out it looks like you have rigged a key which i wanted yep we got the key switch in there okay and i see an extra little thing is that my turn signal yeah nice okay we're making this thing a little bit practical but what about the gauge cluster it's right on the other side oh mama oh that's pretty oh that looks so good okay so that's the gt350r actual instrument pinnacle with the uh replica gauges oh that looks so good it'll look very good in there everything's going very well and then i guess you're working on the ml63 which is a surprise hit of putty yes magic mike's been working on it and he's found that there's some issues with the hatch it won't close and it's just sitting there constantly trying to close open close open and kills the battery there's also a check engine light but all the codes are basically just low voltage codes okay so maybe fixing that hatch would fix the battery drain issue it's very likely we just still have to dive into the vacuum leak and see what's going on there that little weird whistle noise yeah but then it's a usable car for not anyway i was not expecting that i was expecting it to be a total disaster like oh my god look how terrible this thing is and well it's not it's not amazing okay well i'm gonna take the ferrari out and then we can look at the old diesel huh yes look at my handiwork from what like almost a decade ago five or ten years getting there yes you had hair i did have hair your beard was was short yeah it was much shorter he's still sexy all right here we go what's a battery when you've just done a massive engine out the bill's gonna be good oh there we go no lights horn works here you go buddy just in case yes yes yes appreciate it okay out we go out into the light and when i bought this thing i did drive it all the way back home from houston uh not knowing that it had an ancient timing belt on it from like 12 or 13 years ago so i shouldn't have done that most certainly but now we're all fresh it also had horrible noises because of exhaust leaks and it was misfiring let it warm up a little bit but so much quieter have that exhaust on it i mean quieter where it should be quieter as far as the exhaust the noises of the engine sounds so much better let it warm up and then we'll give it a good rip here all right shall we man that is incredible with that noise and the high revving zinc way valvoline engine this is so good these guys nailed it this is wizard's first ever engine out belt service on a ferrari in a shop of course daniel son has done uh several the wizard he is a wizard and of course the last 355 i had the wizard did uh diagnose and fix something that two other shops couldn't figure out for a misfire and he had never seen a ferrari 355 before so just incredible a guy in newton kansas is talented enough and now he's built a talented enough team to tackle things like this and the new tires certainly do this car a huge favor as well it's completely transformed all right well let's go back and look over the greasy deezy wizards uh very old work and we'll see how it's doing but this ferrari is coming home soon oh yeah that is all good now but there's still the cosmetic issues to take care of like this whole right side had a pretty good hit on the bottom here the paint's peeling on the door and also the hole in the top has gotten bigger but it's been converted to manual now and opening and closing pretty smoothly in that sense so just replace the canvas and we're we're good to go wizard is wizard wizard are you nuzzling the the diesel been so long oh all right well i'm glad you're happy to see it's back shall we look at your amazing wizardry underneath here i don't know if it's amazing from 10 years ago but we'll take a look what you doing sucking out your overfilled oil level oh the wizard had something to do in the office hey zach hello i was noticing that's 2011 right yep so old tires very old tires and a little leaky leak for the oil pan oil pans leaking a little bit from the turbo up there oh that's probably pcv vacuum or something pcv leak i mean not enough to do anything about no it's an old diesel yep looks like when we do an oil change we can probably fix it's leaking from up top where the oil filter canister top is oh okay it's a tiny seepage there not bad here's your manual transmission we put in right you did this out of a 240d actually it was a 300d euro oh that's right it was 300d i was thinking it was a 240 which is much shorter than an s obviously but you were able to make all the linkages work i think there wasn't too much to modify well there was some modifications yeah here's your welds right mm-hmm those are some ugly welds but they've lasted all this time very functional so then that goes into the cabin and then we see the drive shaft which obviously the sd is way longer than a 300d so this is a very early wizard solution here the drive shaft this is factory from a 300d and then this slightly girthier things from from what was it from a honda crv a honda so you like slid it over and so the drive shaft goes in quite a ways right deep insertion and then you weld it to where it's permanently inserted right and then there's no in and out movement obviously yeah and i think the clutch and all that stuff just came from the 300d you mounted the pedals that was a little bit of a custom thing in the floor with the pedals but yep nothing uh nothing serious earth shattering there and then here's the back of the drive shaft which i guess you don't really see it was up there where you lengthened it right yeah it was up there you won't be able to see the other weld right this is the 300 sd drive shaft well very very clever basically you went back into the parts bin and found like a broken honda drive shaft and you thought well that'd probably be about the right size and then just lizarded it together it was a nice tight just barely fit in and i just welded it and there was no balance issues and also it's lasted all this time it's done great awesome well there's really not much to do with this thing other than i mean those kind of leaks you have to expect on a diesel it's just it's impossible to not have this thing leaking some what oh look at this muffler set up very odd yeah these are like kidneys very odd so it goes in both and then out one yeah what the heck it's the same on my 420 this was all rusted out i just put a straight pipe there anyway it's good to have it back i think i know which one you want me to keep based on what you were making out with uh five minutes ago please don't get rid of this one there's there's a lot of sentimental attachment to it but roadmasters are so cool they are cool but this one's cooler i suppose well i'm not done with both cars yet there's more things i want to do so i'm not selling them right away but thank you all so much for watching and thank you so much for your support when it comes to merch and stickers here's a few sticker posts from earlier on twitter thank you so much for that also hoovie's garage t-shirts we have some new styles including a woody shirt it's a woody wagon shirt looks really really cool or the traditional hoovy blue so help yourself thank you so much\n"
