Say Hello to the Malo: A Voxel VXR's Track Day Adventure
The thrill of track day driving is exhilarating, and it doesn't matter what kind of exotic car you're behind the wheel of. As I put on my racing gear and strapped myself into the cockpit of my trusty Malo, a Voxal VXR with 536 brake horsepower and a supercharged V8 engine, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The bright red color scheme and sleek design of the Malo were unmistakable as it joined the pack of racing machines on the track.
As we hit the track, my co-driver, who had been jokingly referred to as "the radical", took the wheel of our little Voxal VXR. With a manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, this was no traditional exotic car, but one that I had modified to push it to its limits. The goal was not to keep up with the fancy GT3 cars, but to have fun and see how far we could take this little beast.
As we approached the first corner, my co-driver gave me a nod, and we launched off the line, ready to put our Malo through its paces. With a roar of the engine, we accelerated hard, feeling the grip of the tires as we took the turn. The Lotus C, which had been a steady presence on the track, pulled up alongside us, and my co-driver gave it a nod, signaling that we were ready to take on the next group.
As we approached the first corner, my co-driver did just enough to overtake the Porsche 911, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. The BMW with a wing on its boot was struggling to keep up, and our little Voxal VXR was holding its own against these high-performance machines. We pushed hard through the first corner, feeling the understeer as we took the turn, but my co-driver's quick reflexes allowed us to recover, and we were ready for the next challenge.
The track day was a blur of fast corners, slow hairpins, and sudden changes in direction. My co-driver was a natural behind the wheel, and I was amazed at how quickly he adjusted to each new section of the track. The Lotus C, which had been struggling with traction earlier, pulled up alongside us once again, but this time it was clear that we were ahead of the game.
As we approached the Becket bypass, my co-driver gave me a wink, and I could tell that he was itching to take on the Lamborghini Hurrian. With its sleek design and aggressive stance, the GT3 car looked like it would be a formidable opponent, but my co-driver was undaunted. We took the turn aggressively, feeling the understeer as we exited, but our little Voxal VXR held firm.
Just as we were starting to feel like we had this in the bag, the Radical burst onto the scene, and suddenly we had competition. My co-driver's eyes lit up with excitement as he expertly maneuvered us through a series of tight turns, but it was clear that the GT3 car behind him was too quick for us.
As we crossed the finish line, my co-driver turned to me with a grin and said, "That was fun!" I couldn't help but agree. We may not have kept up with the top-end racing cars, but we had held our own against them, and that was all that mattered. As we walked off the track, the Radical caught up to us, and my co-driver gave it a friendly nod. "Don't worry," he said, "we'll get you next time."
The Voxal VXR may not have been the most powerful car on the track, but with its aggressive driving experience and manual gearbox, it was more than capable of keeping up with even the most seasoned racing machines. And as I looked over at my co-driver, who was still grinning from ear to ear, I knew that this was just the beginning of our racing adventures together.
