Lit Mobile Follow Up #1 - Krazy Ken's Tech Talk

The Exciting World of Wireless Solar Battery Packs: A Review and Analysis

As I sit here with my wireless solar battery pack from Lit Mobile, I am excited to share my experience with you guys. This is one of the products that I purchased last time I released an episode, and I was thrilled to see it arrive in the mail. Or so I thought.

I must admit that I was a bit surprised when I realized that my order had not been shipped yet. I had submitted a contact form on Lit Mobile's website asking what was going on, but all I received was an automated response from their team. I then contacted the listed email address and waited for a response, but nothing came through. I sent a follow-up email, but again, no response. It wasn't until I reached out to some of you guys that I started to hear from people who had actually purchased this product and received it successfully.

Some of the comments I received were quite positive, with people saying that they had a good experience with the product, even if it wasn't perfect. One commenter mentioned that while their product arrived, it wasn't exactly what they expected. This made me realize that Lit Mobile may have been able to deliver high-quality products in the past, but it seems like their customer service has taken a hit.

One of the things that struck me about this experience is the term "dropshipping." For those who may not know, dropshipping is a fulfillment method where a store doesn't have to keep inventory. Instead, they provide customers with a buying experience and then order products from a supplier to ship directly to the customer. According to Talkbusiness.net, in 2017, 23% of online sales were delivered to customers via dropshipping, as noted by Forrester Research.

I also came across an article on Wired that discussed the challenges of dropshipping, including pain points such as long wait times for shipping and targeting ads on social media. It's interesting to note that Lit Mobile seems to be checking off several of these boxes, from their marketing efforts to their customer service.

As I dug deeper into my research, I discovered that another solar charger brand was using the exact same charger product as Lit Mobile. This made me wonder if there was a connection between the two companies or if they were just coincidence. I also found out that the Halo solar battery bank was on Indiegogo, which adds to the mystery surrounding Lit Mobile.

Despite my reservations about Lit Mobile's customer service, I still wanted to try out their product. So, I went to Alibaba and got in touch with the supplier, Juding Tech. Visually, the product looked like the same one that Lit Mobile was selling, and they offered custom branding and boxes. While I don't have 100% confirmation that this is the supplier Lit Mobile used, it seems likely.

After a few errors on the Alibaba website, I was able to order a non-branded unit from Juding Tech for review purposes. To their credit, they were super polite and responded very quickly. I'm excited to see how this product performs and will do some testing when it arrives.

As I look back on my experience with Lit Mobile, I am reminded of the importance of doing research and being cautious when purchasing products online. While I may not have received a positive response from Lit Mobile's customer service, I appreciate the generosity of your comments and offers to donate your Lit Mobiles to me. Stay tuned for my follow-up episode where I'll be comparing this product side-by-side with the one from Juding Tech.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en(logo chimes)- So Lit Mobile just sent me this wirelesssolar battery pack.I'm excited, let's see what's inside.Oh yeah.(upbeat music)Hey guys, how are you all doing?Really, that's just great. You know I'm doing pretty great today, toobecause you guys areamazing, thanks to youmy Lit Mobile episodetook off like a rocket. So, thank you and as promisedI will have follow up episodes for youand today you're getting one of them. So, what's been up the past couple weeks?Well plenty, but one of those thingsthat happened was I gotin touch with a supplierthat sells solar chargers.I got in touch with them via Alibabaand I'll get back to that soon. But one of the things that didn't happenthe past couple weeksis Lit Mobile, actually, supplying the product that I purchased.I placed my order back whenI released the first episodeto this day I still haven'treceived a shipping confirmationor a tracking number.I would say I'm surprised but I'm not.I submitted a contactform on their websiteasking what's up.Like many others, I receivedthe automated response from The Team.I contacted the listed emailaddress and waited, nothing.I sent a followup emailand waited, nothing. And yes, their phone numberis still disconnected.- 7-9-1,the number you dialedis not in service. So, it's been radiosilence from Lit Mobile. But I did receive a fewcomments from you guysthat, actually, gave me aglimmer of hope, in a way. Some of you said you, actually, had a good experiencewith the product, or it at least arrived. It, maybe, wasn't that greatbut it at least showed up.So, maybe at one time,Lit Mobile actually hadgood customer service, quality assuranceand they actuallyshipped out orders, good.Another thing I saw pop up alot was the term, dropshipping. In a nutshell, dropshippingis a fullfillment methodin which a store doesn'thave to keep inventory.Instead the store provides thecustomer a buying experience, like a website, for example, then the store owneror respective employees orderthe product from a supplierand they ship the productdirectly to the customer.According to Talkbusiness.net,in 2017 23% of online saleswere delivered tocustomers via dropshipping,as noted by Forrester Research.I also found this Wiredarticle about dropshippingand it's almost hilarioushow many topics Lit Mobilechecks off of thisdropshipping cliche list. The article mentionspain points, Ali Express, targeting ads on social media, particularly with video. They mention the longwait times for shippingand they even mentionShopify, specifically.Hmm, seems familiar.I also found this Oberloarticle which talks aboutthe negatives behind dropshippingand one of the points they mentioned was, dropshipping makes customerservice more challenging. That makes sense, youhave very little controlover the product.Pretty much, it isn't your product. And it seems like LitMobile has given up entirelywhen it comes to customerservice and satisfaction.Frankly, I don't work in this industryand I've never soldphysical product online. So, I wasn't familiar withthis term, dropshipping.Well, now I know.I don't think all dropshipping businessesare inherently bad, butdropshipping does open upthe possibility of yougiving your customersa bad experience, especiallyif you don't providegood customer service. For example, you don'treply to your emails,or you disconnect your phone number. Are you getting thehints, here Lit Mobile.Anyway, there's some otherstuff I discovered too.Another comment I receivedwas from the videographerbehind these ads.He did confirm the on-screen personalitieswere actors, makes sense.I don't think there'sanything wrong with thatbut if you're going to fudgea testimonial with an actor, you should disclaim it.Of course, I'm not putting anyblame on the video team herebecause they don't have the final say.I get it, I've worked inthe video world for years.I free-lanced a ton.If I can interview thisvideographer later,I'll include him another follow up episodebecause this journey is far from over.Another interesting thing that occurredis the new reviews on the website. It seems like there's some (beep) postingalong with some memes occurring now.As funny as that is, I don't condone thatand I don't want anybody reallydoing that going forward.Let's not make ourselves look dumb.In one of the Lit Mobile website reviewsI found a product calleda Lit Solar, guess what? There website followsthe same cookie-cutter(beep) as Lit Mobile. They even have the same logo, interesting. Also, if you share a photoof you're product in actionyou get a 60% discount, isthat 60% off of the 60% off?Or can I not combine the offers?Help me out here Lit Mobile.I know, I'll just callyour customer supportand ask that question, oh wait. It's also weird thatthey say they're basedout of Indiana but then show a photoof Cloud Gate in Chicago.Which is the city Lit Mobileclaimed to be based in, sigh.I also love how a productwill say it has no reviewsand then another part of the pagewill say it has 1,489reviews, make up your mind!I'm also discoveringother solar charger brandsusing this exact charger product,or at least something similar.I saw a tweet which mentionedthe Halo solar battery bank, which was, actuallyalso, on Indiegogo, what? So, now what?Well, I'm still waiting tohear back from Lit Mobile.I doubt they're ever gonna get back to me.But I still wanted totry this product out.I promised I would do that,at least, I think I did.So, do you know what I did?Oh yeah, I went to Alibabaand got in touch with thesupplier, Juding Tech.Granted I don't have 100% confirmationthis is the supplier Lit Mobile usedbut, visually, it lookslike the same product. The JD-T19, as suspectedthey offer custom brandingand boxes, which for thehell of it I submittedmy computer plan logo andreceived three renders.Neato, hey maybe, we cansell these one day, wink. So, after getting a fewerrors on the Alibaba website,I got in touch with the supplierand ordered one non-brandedunit for review. To Juding's credit they were super politeand responded very quickly. So, that product is on it'sway to my lair as we speak. When it gets here, I will do some testingand I will gladly do anotherfollow up episode for you guys. So, stay tuned for that. And if the Lit Mobileproduct ever arrives,I will gladly compare the two side-by-sidebut I doubt it's ever gonna get here.I did receive some generousoffers from you guys, for you to actually donateyour Lit Mobiles to meand I may have to take you up on that. So, we'll see.I'm curious to know about yourLit Mobile buying experienceand as always I love to hear aboutyour other tech buying horror stories. So, let me know about thosein the Comments, down below. If you liked the video, you know what to do.Awesome, thanks for sticking with me.Catch the crazy, pass it on.(upbeat music)(logo chimes)\n"
