Apple iPhone 5 Unboxing & Review _ Unboxholics

Hello there unboxers! This is Sakis Karpas from GameOver.gr in another episode of Unboxholics! In today's episode, we will take a look at Apple's iPhone 5. The sixth iteration in the iPhone series, iPhone 5 was released in nine countries on September 21, 2012.

The model that we will be unboxing is the 16GB black and slate version. The other color option is white (ceramic and silver-colored metal trim), and the other storage options are 32GB and 64GB. Of course, the first item we find inside the retail package is the iPhone 5, which feels a lot lighter! Let's leave it aside and explore the package.

Apple always keeps it minimal when it comes to packaging. Inside this black paper document, we find a SIM card removal pin, manual, and the usual Apple sticker set. A Power Adapter (UK) is included of course. One thing that stands out about this packaging is the improvement made over its earphones set. The new EarPods make use of a new bass technology. A port was created in a way that it will deliver sound to the inside of your ear.

We tested them, and the overall audio quality of Apple EarPods is very impressive! Apple EarPods have a microphone that is used for calls or voice control and a volume changer button. This new design makes sure that you can easily adjust the volume without having to use your fingers. The sound quality is clear and crisp, making it perfect for listening to music or watching videos.

Now let's take a closer look at iPhone 5's design. iPhone's 5 design continues what Apple started with iPhone 4, although the back glass has been replaced by aluminum with inlays along the top and bottom made of ceramic glass. This new material is not only more durable but also gives the phone a sleeker look. An issue with its coating being prone to chipping has been reported by many users worldwide.

Apple took notes and has already started replacing these phones. Furthermore, this issue will no longer be a problem at the second batch of the iPhone 5. The microphone and the speaker is located at the bottom side of iPhone 5 along with a Lightning port and an earphones jack port that is no longer at the top of the phone. The mute switch button and the volume change buttons haven't changed and are situated at the same place.

The on/off button which also puts the iPhone to sleep mode is located at the top side. Along with the Apple's logo on the back, we find the camera flash, an additional microphone, and the 8MP iSight Camera. On the front side, we find a 1.2MP camera used for FaceTime, the earpiece, and the home button for basic functions.

iPhone 5 height is 123.8mm, 58.6mm width, and 7.6mm thickness. iPhone 5 provides a 4-inch display diagonally while it weighs 112g. That means that iPhone 5 is 20% lighter than iPhone 4S and 18% thinner. So far, iPhone 5 is the thinnest smartphone in the market.

Let's take a quick look at the specs! iPhone 5 runs on an Apple-designed A6 chip but mass-produced by Samsung. The A6 chip provides a powerful performance that can handle all of your daily tasks with ease. Market research will be the best thing to do before buying a high-end smartphone, and iPhone 5 is among the top options right now.

But even if you are an Apple hater or not, iPhone 5 is one of the best smartphones available right now. But Apple faces strong competition and the days that an iPhone was the only top suggested smartphone are long gone. The performance of iSight's camera is quite impressive, capturing high-quality photos with its advanced features.

The improved stabilization prevents shaky video footage, making it perfect for recording videos or taking selfies. Lastly, the front camera captures photos up to 1.2MP while the video can record up to 720p. iPhone 5 will be available in Greek stores at the end of this year but an official date hasn't yet been confirmed.
