The Golf GTI Performance: A Vehicle Worthy of its TCR Name?

basically okay other than that you know there's not nothing really to complain this basically is a Golf GTI performance with some goodies with a bit more horsepower and well that's just yeah that's always good so because we have those 90 days wheels as I said we also have the adaptive dampers so I've got it in sport mode right now but it's actually not bad with these little bumps 19-inch wheels dampers at its firmus it's really still quite good it also has the limited slip diff which is always good to have with the front-wheel drive car with this amount of power the sound well Chiti ice never really sound that interesting yeah I guess the main thing about that new exhaust is that it's a bit more free-flowing they also installed two extra radiators which is a similar setup to the Golf R to increase cooling for the engine which has to work a little bit harder of course so zero to 100 in this TC are 5.6 seconds which is pretty damn quick which is pretty damn quick considering a GTI performance does like 6.2 seconds so that's a big step up for this TCR I guess that's that's basically where this car starts deserving its name it's it's the performance the performance is really impressive and it's pretty damn close to a goal for of course which has 300 horsepower so that only has 10 horsepower or more and even though that's going to win the 0 to 100 the drag race because of the four-wheel drive it is a little heavier and it also loses some more power in the drivetrain because of that four-wheel-drive system so in the end in there in the real world only holds about 100 to 200 this car is actually quicker than a goal farm because check this out this is seriously impressive it's actually pretty damn quick this is just a GTI I mean it's it's getting crazy so how does it feel well it feels really steady or the Altima that's 250 7/8 as I said we do have to race top speed because we have those 19-inch wheels so that is seriously impressive that is what I meant when I said that this is where the TCR starts deserving that name because 100 to 200 global does an hour this car does 13.0 5 seconds and the Gulf are 13 point 15 so this is a tenth quicker and it's also almost 3 seconds quicker than the TTA performers for 100 to 200 I mean that's crazy right that's seriously quick click up here to rate the performance from 1 to 5 so this really is a DCR it's just a shame that that they didn't do more about it that they didn't dress it up a little bit more I would have liked a little bit of a white party or a little bit of a wheel arts extension or something like that just something to let people know that you're driving a TCR because there's just nothing here you can get some ugly stickers for your car and that lets people know that you drive a TCR but I mean no one wants that and you want people to know because this car is freakin quick it feels super solid as well if you want to check out the ultimate video of this car click in the top right corner right now with the GPS verified data from our draggy so what this basically is an exercise in marketing because yeah they just use the TCR name because it sounds cool and because it it reminds people of racing but they haven't executed in the right way they haven't really done enough to to shout it from the rooftops that this is a TCR I mean they make these crazy GTI's for for like worthless a and stuff for them for the big Golf GTI meetings in Germany and I would have liked if they had just taken this opportunity to make this the best GTI ever because to be honest this is the best Golf GTI I've ever driven but that's probably because I haven't driven the Golf GTI Clubsport s which is the most you know the most hardcore version so maybe I should drive that one as well that was the run out version of the pre-facelift of the golf and this is the seven and a half you know it's it's it's getting a little bit crazy with all these facelifts and names and run out models and special editions to keep track it's getting hard but anyway it doesn't really matter how complicated it is the fact of the matter is this is a frickin good GTI and it is a really good old hatch so I hope you guys enjoyed this video you can subscribe by clicking the big button in the middle you could also check out this video or go check out this playlist hope to see you the next one bye guys

ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this POV review by out to top and out my name is Max and today we've got the new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR it's a run out special of this generation the mark 7.5 golf it's going to be replaced later this year so this is the last hoorah the special edition to end this generation of golf TCR of course stands for touring car racing which is a super popular racing class during car racing class nowadays so they thought let's link that with the GTI so today I'm going to show you around it show you why this is TCR if there is any TCR on it then we'll take it for a drive and we'll hope that we will beat the rain because there's a lot of rain coming so I hope we will be on time at the ultraman because we'll do an autumn and blast as well but before we begin don't cars all right so TCR it's supposed to be more sporty than the GTI performance so we've got a little extra splitter down there and front bumper it's it's pretty aggressive looking I would say especially with these 19-inch wheels these are optional as standard you get 18-inch but these 19's look really good the TCR has some uprated brakes as well with ventilated discs I don't know if this is the case everywhere but in the Netherlands if you select the 19-inch wheels you also get the dynamic chassis control DCC so adaptive dampers and the race top speed from 250 o'clock there's an hour to 260 kilometers an hour which is cool on the GTI it also has a different diffuser which is pretty protruding I would say as you can see it's quite large and it has an all new stainless steel exhaust system combined with an issue you remap that means that you get 290 horsepower which is 45 more than a GTI performance and 380 Newton meters of torque which is 10 more than a GTI performance where's the bloody release oh I see some rain crap so there it is the 2-liter TSI 290 horsepower 380 Newton meters as I said and we're going to hurry the hell up okay before we get in I'll do one more lap as you can see there are no TCR badges anywhere which i think is a bit weird you guys can rate in the top right corner what do you think of the looks of this TCR I think it looks pretty good it looks pretty aggressive especially with this black-on-black it does look pretty racy so on the inside we've got a new modern version of the tartan you know from the GTI seats this is basically the same as you can see but it's a bit more modern and a bit more racy maybe other than that in here we've got some Alcantara on the doors some Alcantara on the gear lever and no TCR logos anywhere there's not a single TCR badge on this car what's up max this is your night colleague and he's got something to show you right there t C R over there you just weren't looking right we do have a 12 o'clock marker on the steering wheel and a GTI batch right there which still has little protective film so let's get that off mmm deism are ok so no TCR badges and to be honest I think it looks pretty conservative on the outside apart from the fact that it doesn't have any TCR badges you know I don't know if you guys have seen a golf TCR ever but it is freaking awesome it is it has this crazy wide body and a huge rear spoiler this does have a bigger rear spoiler Leonard GTI performance but you know it's not super huge or anything so I would have liked Volkswagen to go a little bit more crazy and to make it a little bit more racy so that the TCR name again which is nowhere to be found more in this car would be a bit more logical that they called it TCR I don't I don't really see the link I understand that they used it for marketing purposes and I understand that you know they thought there was a gap in between the GTR performance and the Golf R but it's a lot less extreme than for instance a Golf GTI Clubsport s which didn't have rear seats which had a roll cage more than 300 horsepower so I guess I guess what I'm trying to say is that that Club sport s was more of a TCR than this TCR is basically
