# Adam's RX-8 Project Update: Engine Mounts, Parts, and Progress

## Introduction to the Project

Adam recently provided an update on his ongoing RX-8 project, detailing various aspects of his work, including engine modifications, parts acquisition, and challenges faced. This article delves into each segment of his progress, offering a comprehensive overview without condensing or summarizing any details.

## Arrival of Engine Mount Kit

A significant milestone in Adam's project was the arrival of the k-series to RX-8 engine mount kit from Colin's Performance in Florida. The package included two main brackets with robust gusseting made from thick steel, designed to fit securely between the engine and chassis. The left-hand side featured a bullet plate for a flat surface, simplifying installation, while the right side utilized the existing flat surface for mounting.

## Challenges with Engine Alignment

Adam encountered challenges aligning the engine due to its factory orientation, which required tilting it back by 14 degrees. Initially, the brackets didn't line up correctly because the engine was positioned too low. To resolve this, Adam planned to use a jack to lift and adjust the engine's height for proper bracket placement.

## Ordered Components

Adam has placed orders for essential parts to enhance his RX-8. Notably, he acquired a track tough electric water pump kit to replace the existing setup near the ABS pump, aiming for a cleaner look. Additionally, he secured a DC 5 Type S HID unit to reposition the Collin outlet from the rear to the side, improving accessibility and aesthetics.

## Clearing Out the Car

During his project, Adam thoroughly cleaned out the RX-8, removing unnecessary components. This process uncovered a full set of coilovers in the boot, useful for raising the rear. However, he discovered that the flywheel adapter plate was missing, complicating clutch alignment. The clutch itself, sourced from Volvo, is rated for approximately 400 horsepower, suitable for his needs.

## Turbo Build Progress

Adam provided updates on his Integra turbo build, which involves creating a custom hitch using a NE6 touring car roof scope molded into a Lexan hatch with Ferrari F40-style louvers and a carbon-fiber finish. Once completed, this modification will allow external access to the throttle bodies, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal.

## Custom Hitch Details

The custom hitch project includes a roof scope being transformed into a sleek lexan hatch with integrated louvers and a carbon-fiber exterior. This innovation aims to showcase the engine's features while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency. Adam anticipates that this modification will soon be ready, enabling him to demonstrate the car's performance.

## Collaboration with GFB New Zealand

Adam highlighted his collaboration with GFB New Zealand, who supplied a high-performance blow-off valve for his RX-8 build. This component is crucial for managing airflow efficiently, especially given the engine's displacement and turbo setup. GFB's reliability and expertise were praised, as they have contributed to other successful projects.

## Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber Doors

Adam's company specializes in lightweight doors, offering both fiberglass and carbon fiber options. These doors are designed to reduce weight significantly while remaining cost-effective. The fiberglass variant weighs five and a half kilos, while the carbon fiber door is lighter at three and a half kilos. Adam encourages interested parties to contact him for inquiries.

## Other Projects

In addition to his RX-8 and Integra builds, Adam mentioned other ongoing projects. These include an EG drag car in development for several years and a Kraftwerk supercharged k20 EEG street sleeper nearing completion. Both projects will soon be featured on his channel, offering viewers diverse content.

## Conclusion and Call to Action

Adam concluded by encouraging viewers to engage with his content through likes, shares, subscriptions, and comments. He emphasized the importance of community support in his work and hinted at future videos detailing his various builds.

By following Adam's journey, enthusiasts can gain insights into engine modifications, custom fabrication, and project management, all while enjoying the passion-driven world of car building.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys Adam here hey we just spent the last half an hour recording a bunch of stuff on the rx-8 audio wasn't working we just tried again Audio still wasn't working so we've got the GoPro out so this will be a bit of an abbreviated update but I spent some time researching engine options and sure enough someone does actually do a k-series to Eric's 8 engine mount kit Colin's performance in Florida so that arrived this morning we did a bunch of unboxing which obviously you can't see but essentially the kit is these two main brackets superstrong gusseting real thick steel so grant a years and the RX 8 the engine mount rubbers are actually bolted to the chassis so these simply go between the motor and the chassis on the left-hand side of the engine you can see they've supplied a bullet plate so that gives us a flat surface for the bracket to bolt onto and then on the other side of the engine we more or less have a flat surface to bolt the bracket to on that side so this is going to make it super easy we were going to try and adapt and innovative mounts k-series to s2000 kit but we don't need to do that now we've got these so that is super cool what we have figured out in our last video that you won't see is that the engine does need to tilt back on its factory orientation which is about 14 degrees and so it means that at the moment the brackets don't quite line up and the engine is actually sitting too low so we need to get the jack up under there get it tilted and then obviously get the height set so that we can volt these guys in and kind of have it in its final resting place just some other updates I have ordered the track tough electric water pump kit so you're going to be able to get rid of that ugly mess there by the ABS pump and I have ordered a DC 5 Type S HID so that the Collin outlet is on the side and not out the back because we just have no way of accessing the rear and the firewall and the guys that tricked our for also building Collin outlet port in swirl pot in an outlet to go to the radiator so that's cool in the meantime we'll get working lifting the motor up having a plate and we'll show you the progress in our search for finding the factory rubberized engine mounts because they weren't bolted to the car we rummage through the entire car and pulled all the crap out that we're going to throw away so basically this pile represents a lot of the factory k24 stuff it's not going to be of any use there's also some random rx-8 stuff about the intake box and random plastic panels undercarriage stuff so we've kind of made a dent on that we did uncover that we've actually got a full set of coil overs in the boot so whatever's making it low and the rear will come out and also discovered that the adapter plate for the gearbox for the clutch yeah sorry the flywheel adapter is not in the car I just assumed it was so that's what that looks like so perfect to get the spacing right so obviously we need a chuck didn't need some hardware in the box and then we've got in here the clutch which I believe they've used some kind of Volvo clutch I'm here to read up again so but apparently this is good for about 400 horse give or take so that'll work especially to get us going anyway so we've kind of cleared out the car which is good and we can throw that stuff in the Skip in start just trying to get a feel what we're done Bunji you guys have been asking what's happening with the turbo build for the Integra I've been waiting on and I'm still waiting on something that you're about to see on your screen now which is a custom hitch we've got a ne6 touring car roof scope that's being molded into a custom a lexan hatch with kind of a Ferrari f40 style louvers built in and then a carbon-fiber Integra hatch and once that's arrived we can put that on we can take the car for a hone we'll finally be able to hear the throttle bodies on the outside of the car if you seen this before it's any six powered Integra Type R which we're converting to turbo but I really want to kind of have a last hurrah with it and the state with the new hitch so we can here get some drive-bys throw the GoPro on the back so he can hear the noise it makes it as a super cool and super loud and slide the car but you just can't hear it outside the car so word on the street is it is not too far away we'll get that on obviously we'll show you guys that we'll have some fun with it and then we'll start pulling stuff out only that arrived us in the last week or so from the guys it go for its best news Eiland is the Blofeld that we'll be using before the turbo boat this is the SB 50 really widely used in the drag racing scenario and guys that are moving a lot of air obviously we've got three liters of displacement they're in quite a big turbo so this thing really will flow as much air as you want this will bolt straight onto the water to air and to call of authority of life valve 50 inch blow-off valve flames I don't even think we need to worry about the weld on so thanks to the guys at GFB New Zealand they supplied that to us free of charge it's something that we've used on our drag car and another project both of what you haven't seen which we will show you soon but it's a blog feel they used on a lot of builds we explore lessly and will do a great job on this one too a lot of you guys are probably wondering what's in these boxes thick behind me up to this video we've got our own line of fiberglass and carbon fiber lightweight doors which we do for Ege KDC so we just got a new shipment and they're made in New Zealand and we do shut them internationally the fiberglass doors are five and a half kilos and the carbon ones are three and half kilos say times two point two four pounds I'll let you guys work that out overseas but that's what those are if you want to save a ton of weight and do it really affordably get in contact with me on the doors if you like what we're doing with the cars please make sure you check out other videos we've got stuff on the integra in the rx-8 already loaded up we also have a case series EG drag car it's been in the build for a couple of years which we haven't done any footage of but we'll show you soon and we've got a Kraftwerk supercharged k20 EEG kind of Street sleeper car which is almost finished which all the works been done previous to setting up this channel so we'll get some content for those cars for you so yeah like follow subscribe stick with ushey guys Adam here hey we just spent the last half an hour recording a
