The iPhone 5S: A Year Later and Already We're Craving Something More

As we approach the release date of the official iPhone 6, it's hard not to feel a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) when it comes to our current smartphone. The iPhone 5S, released last September, was a great device in its own right, but since its launch, we can't help but want something more. In this article, we'll take a look at the top six things on my iPhone 6 wish list.

First and foremost, speakers come on Apple! After purchasing Beats Electronics this year, it's plain and simple that there needs to be something in the works. The current speakers are decent, but they can't compare to the HTC Boom Sound, which is a great example of what we could be getting from Apple. New leaks have hinted at a larger speaker, so let's hope for the best. It's time for Apple to step up its game and provide us with speakers that truly blow other smartphones out of the water.

Another feature that I'm eager to see in the iPhone 6 is NFC support. This feature is already available on many current smartphones, but it has yet to reach the iPhone. With iOS 8 promoting HomeKit and compatibility with home devices, NFC will take this compatibility to the next level. It's definitely a sensible addition, especially considering how much we use our phones in our daily lives. I'm hoping that Apple will make this a priority in their design.

Wireless charging is another feature that I think would be amazing in the iPhone 6. While it may seem like a stretch at first, there's no doubt in my mind that Apple can make it happen. Just think about not having to search around at night for a cord – it's a life-changing concept! We've already seen other smartphones with wireless charging capabilities, so I'm hopeful that Apple will join the party.

Next up is a resolution boost for our cameras. The iPhone 5S currently has an 8-megapixel camera, but I think this should be bumped up to at least 12 or 16 megapixels. With how much we use our front-facing cameras as much as our rear cameras, it deserves a boost in specs. It's time for Apple to step up its camera game and give us better images.

Of course, one of the biggest features that everyone is eagerly waiting for is a bigger screen. And I'm not just talking about any bigger screen – I'm talking about a massive, stunning display that will make our eyes pop out in amazement. The iPhone 6 has already been rumored to have a larger screen, and I couldn't be more excited. No longer will we have to grab our iPad or squint at our phone just to see what's going on – Apple is going to change the game with its new design.

Finally, it's time for a different design. The iPhone 5S was a bit of a stretch compared to its predecessors, and while Touch ID was a great addition, it's not enough to make it stand out from the crowd. The iPhone 6 desperately needs a makeover, and thankfully, plenty of leaked photos and rumors support that this will happen. If Apple decides to revamp its design, I'm all for it – let's see what they come up with!
