Samsung's Presentation of Tempo Drone: A First Look at Active Smart PC

We're still here at Samsung's presentation of the Tempo drone, and we're taking a look at its Windows 8 smart PC, which is called the Active Smart PC. As you can see, it has a Core i5-based laptop shell that's quite similar to the Active Tab, which is a Snapdragon S4-based device. One notable difference between the two devices is the presence of a keyboard dock on the Active Smart PC.

The keyboard dock is quite chunkier than the one found on the Active Tab, but it serves the same purpose - to provide a more traditional laptop experience. To activate the dock, you simply hold down the button at the bottom, and it pops out, revealing the new Windows key. This switch allows you to toggle between the Metro UI (which is now known as Windows 8) and the familiar Windows 7 interface.

The Active Smart PC has a number of impressive specs under its hood. The Core i5 3317U CPU runs at a speed of 1.7 GHz, while it also boasts 4 GB of RAM and a 64-bit operating system. Additionally, it supports pen input with four touch points and Windows Touch support, making it an excellent device for those who enjoy writing and drawing.

One of the notable features of the Active Smart PC is its S Pen compatibility. The device comes with a slot for an S Pen, which is the same stylus used in Samsung's Galaxy Note series. However, unfortunately, the S Pen was not present during our presentation, so we couldn't get a hands-on look at it.

As we take a closer look around the back of the device, we can see that there's a large vent on top, surrounded by slots for Micro SD cards and USB connections. The power button is located here as well. One thing that stands out about this device is its glossy finish, which gives it a sleek and modern appearance.

At the bottom of the device, you'll find the dock connector, which we assume is also present on the Active Tab. This means that the keyboard dock will be compatible with both devices, making it an excellent choice for those who want to switch between the two.

The Active Smart PC comes in a number of different sizes, including one that measures 11.6 inches diagonally. While this size may seem small compared to some other laptops on the market, we've found that it's actually quite suitable for everyday use. Additionally, the device is heavier than some of its competitors, which can be a trade-off for those who want a more premium feel.

One thing that sets the Active Smart PC apart from its rivals is its display. The screen has nicer viewing angles and a brighter backlight, making it an excellent choice for those who plan to use their device outdoors or in bright environments.

Finally, we took a look at the battery life of the Active Smart PC, which shows 36% remaining. While we don't know exactly how long this will last, we're excited to see how the device performs over time and throughout its lifespan.

Overall, our first look at Samsung's Intel-based Windows 8 tablet has left us impressed with its specs, design, and features. We can't wait to put it through its paces and see how it performs in real-world usage.
