**Unboxing and First Impressions: Poco M4 Pro 4G**
The Poco M4 Pro 4G is a budget-friendly smartphone that promises to deliver impressive performance and features. With a discounted price tag, it's an attractive option for those looking for a reliable phone without breaking the bank.
In terms of audio quality, the device sounds almost flat when playing content with high dynamic range, boosting the mids and high frequencies over everything else. This issue can be mitigated by adjusting the audio settings or using a separate amplifier. Playing a song to demonstrate the performance side of things, the Mediatek Cello G96 handles everyday tasks pretty well, even in its base variant with 6GB of RAM. The phone manages to keep multiple apps in memory, making it suitable for casual multitasking.
The M4 Pro also boasts improved RAM management thanks to MIUI 13, which reduces bloatware and allows for smoother performance. However, the device still comes with a bunch of pre-installed apps that can be uninstalled. Interestingly, the phone runs on Android 11 instead of the latest Android 12-based MIUI 13, although it's likely to receive an update soon.
For gaming, the Poco M4 Pro 4G performs well, with PUBG Mobile maxing out at HD graphics and high frame rates. However, the author prefers playing games with stable 40 FPS gameplay under smooth graphics and ultra frame rates instead of trying to squeeze maximum performance out of the phone. Similarly, Asphalt 9 and Mobile Legends run without any frame drops in terms of smoothness.
The camera setup on the M4 Pro consists of a triple-camera array at the back, featuring a 64MP primary sensor, 8MP UV sensor, and 2MP macro shooter. The front-facing camera has a 16MP selfie sensor housed inside a wide camera island. While the cameras are not overly impressive, they do take decent photos with good detail and saturation levels. However, there's an issue with portrait mode shots, which produce unnatural skin tones and an unnatural pink tint.
Low-light photography on the M4 Pro is also decent, with well-balanced exposure control using Night Mode. Videos recorded by both front and rear cameras are limited to 1080p at 30 FPS, reflecting the phone's capabilities. Battery life on the device is impressive, providing around seven hours of screen-on time under normal usage.
Charging the Poco M4 Pro 4G is fast, with a battery that can climb from zero to full charge in about an hour. The phone's performance and features make it an attractive option for those looking for a budget-friendly smartphone without sacrificing too much quality.
**Comparison to Redmi Note 11S**
For those confused between the Poco M4 Pro 4G and the Redmi Note 11S, the author recommends opting for the M4 Pro due to its cheaper price tag. While both phones share similarities in terms of design and specifications, the M4 Pro offers better value for money.
**Conclusion**
In conclusion, the Poco M4 Pro 4G is a decent budget phone that offers impressive performance, features, and battery life at an affordable price. With some room for improvement in areas like camera optimization and response time, it's still a great option for those looking for a reliable smartphone without breaking the bank.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys pratima here uh today i brought my early impressions of the new poco m4 pro 4g there's already a 5g variant of this phone that launched way back in november 2021 and you can watch our full review of that phone right here um now considering the competition the m4 pro 5g delivered decent performance and did not sacrifice a whole lot to bring 5g connectivity either so what could pogo do with a cheaper 4g variant of the phone well there are a few upgrades and a couple of obvious downgrades here to meet that lower price point talking about price the m4 pro starts at 15 000 indian rupees for the base 664 gb variant while the spec out 8 128 gb model goes for 18 000 union rupees there's even a flat thousand rupees bank discount as an introductory offer which makes it a really appealing budget phone i have been using it for a couple of days now and this is my early impressions or rather a mini review of the new poco m4 pro 4g but before that let me quickly unbox the phone as you can see the m4 pro arrives in this bright yellow box like its 5g counterpart we first have a paper box that houses some documents a sim ejector tool and a soft silicon case then there's the phone itself in this power black color option while it is also available in cool blue and the signature poco yellow finishes finally you get a compatible 33 watt power brick alongside a type a to type c cable as well now holding the phone in my hands i am immediately impressed by its design i mean yes poco could have gone with a matte finish to prevent smudges and dust build up at the back of the phone but besides that the m4 pro's ergonomics is rock solid i like how these light curves at the back make handling the phone so easy whereas it is complemented by flat frames with a matte finish for that modern kick this all plastic build quality does not feel cheap hollow or any of those things either at 179.5 grams poco says that this is the lightest m series phone yet but the m4 pro still retains excellent heft and weight distribution both power and volume rockers are placed on the right frame here and reaching them with one hand was not much trouble for me the power button doubles as a fingerprint reader too and it's quite fast and responsive as you would expect the m4 pro is even ip53 certified against dust and splash damage which is always nice to see on a phone in this price range poco has also included an ir blaster a 3.5 mm headphone jack and stereo speakers so you're getting the whole package here and unlike the m4 pro 5g its z-axis linear motor has a fairly strong loud and buzzing feedback which makes the typing experience pretty enjoyable while i prefer fluid and precise haptics myself its vibration feedback is more than fine for a budget phone besides the great design the m4 pro is also an amazing phone for content consumption poco has upgraded to an amoled display this time which is a major improvement over the ips lcd panel that was present on its 5g variant protected by gorilla glass 3 this oled screen delivers great colors thanks to the white dc ip3 gamut and pitch black contrast with inky blacks and bright whites i also found its viewing angles to be equally great with no noticeable off access color shift by the way it is also white one l1 certified for hd playback on ott platforms like netflix but do note that since it's a budget phone it does not have any form of hdr playback moving on i have no issue with the brightness on this thing either poco says that the m4 pro achieves 700 nits under high brightness mode whereas it can hit a peak brightness of a thousand nits but the best thing is this amoled upgrade does not come at a sacrifice of a higher refresh rate or always on display support either but since i've used a lot of phones with a 120 hertz refresh rate this 90 hertz screen does not feel all that special to me but if you're coming from a regular 60hz display the m4 pro smoothness is bound to be a visual tree and it's adaptive as well meaning the screen intelligently switches between 60 hertz and 90 hertz to save battery unfortunately in my brief time of use this display was subject to microstatus angitas which is something we're all familiar with in budget and mid-range phones from xiaomi and poco with a higher refresh rate this is most vividly noticeable once you're scrolling through your google feed it's not that the m4 pro has an incompetent chipset or anything since the helio g96 powering the phone is equipped to handle up to 120hz full hd displays so hopefully a fix is on the way complementing this display is a set of stereo speakers which gets fairly loud enough and is fine for listening to podcasts or binging your favorite shoes and there's not much distortion at the max volume either which is great but the audio sounds almost flat when playing something with a high dynamic range as it boosts the mids and high frequencies over everything else let me play a song to give you a rough idea on to the performance side of things mediatek celio g96 handles usual everyday tasks pretty well and with 6 gb of ram even in the base variant you can expect a decent multitasking experience too i usually toggle between five to six apps at a time and the m4 pro managed to keep them in memory just fine seems like xiaomi has really improved ram management with the miui 13. it does come with a bunch of bloatware apps and games but you can uninstall most of them however like most of the latest xiaomi launches the m4 pro is also still on android 11 and not the latest android 12 based miui 13. although it's more than likely that this phone will get android 12 update but that's about it i don't think android 13 is on the cards for this budget phone and whatever happened to poco ui right poco had confirmed its custom ui to arrive by the end of 2021 but were well into 2022 and it's still a no show regardless you can enjoy some casual gaming on the m4 pro pubg mobile maxes out at hd graphics and high frame rates but i prefer the stable 40 fps gameplay under smooth graphics and ultra frame rates instead relatively less stacks in games like asphalt 9 and mobile legends play without any frame drops either in terms of cameras the m4 pro brings a triple camera array at the back consisting of a 64 megapixel primary and 8 megapixel ultraviolet and a two megapixel macro shooter housed inside this wide camera island up front there's a 16 megapixel selfie camera inside the whole punch cutout now apart from the cameras the poco m4 pro 4g is pretty much identical to the redmi note 11s so if you're conflicted between these two phones i would suggest going for the m4 pro because of the cheaper price tag plus the 108 megapixel camera on the note 11s is not going to make a whole lot of difference for the additional money anyway here the main 64 megapixel shooter actually takes decent photos with a good amount of details and saturation and contrast levels even though the overall shot comes off little warm the ultra wide angle camera introduces a cooler hue instead but there is not much detail to talk about here portrait photos have acceptable edge detection but it messes up the subject's skin tone rather horribly you can notice the unnatural pink tint alongside a hint of beautification on its portrait shots it's the same with the selfie cameras too uh what's worse is that redmi and poco phones especially with mediatek chipset have always struggled with maintaining a good skin tone so i doubt a future update is going to solve this low light photos are good enough on the m4 pro with decent exposure control with night mode turned on you can get well balanced photos with greater highlights details and reduced noise as well in terms of videos both the front and the back camera is limited to 1080p 30fps recording exactly like the poco m4 pro 5g and the redmi note 11s as you'd expect the videos are of strictly average quality with slight bubbles finally in the battery department you're getting the same 5 000 milliamp per cell that supports 33 watt pro fast charging under medium usage consisting of taking a bunch of photos and videos streaming netflix and twitch browsing the web alongside some gaming every now and then i managed to get around seven hours of screen on time here so good battery life if not great as for charging the phone can climb from zero to hundred percent in a little over an hour all right wrapping it all up i think the poco m4 pro 4g is a decent budget phone especially with that bang discount i talked about earlier sacrificing 5g connectivity it brings an amoled display which makes it an impressive device for multimedia consumption and its battery life is pretty remarkable as well sure there are a bunch of rough edges that poco has got to sort out like optimizing the cameras responsiveness of the 90 hertz refresh rate and the android 12 update thing nonetheless that does not keep the m4 pro 4g from being a good budget phone under 15 000 indian rupees price bracket or some 25 000 rupees in nepal so guys that is all for our unboxing and first impressions of the all-new poco m4 pro 4g what do you think about the device do let us know in the comments um also if you like this video don't forget to give it a thumbs up and while you're there
