2025 Chevrolet Equinox – Which One to Buy

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox Marks a New Generation

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox marks the start of a new generation for the popular compact crossover. The styling is upgraded, the interior improved, and the trim lineup slightly simplified. In this article, we will focus on the gas-powered Equinox, while also mentioning the Equinox Eevee in a separate video.

Powertrain

The sole powertrain offered for the Equinox is a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, producing horsepower at 175. The torque output depends on whether you opt for front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive models produce 184 lb feet and pair with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), while all-wheel drive models make 203 lb feet and get an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Trim Lineup

All three trims get a distinct look on the outside, specifically in the grill, wheel, and tire package, as well as mirror and badge treatments. Every version also comes with an 11-inch gauge cluster display that pairs with an 11.3-inch center screen, featuring Google built-in functionality, which can still access Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The base model has been renamed from the Equinox LS to the LT, which actually means you get more standard content. At the corners, you'll find 17-inch wheels finished in a dark Android-inspired face contrasting scheme, wearing all-season tires. The side mirrors are body-colored and heated, while the front and rear lighting is LED, with the rear glass getting a dark tint applied to it.

The LT's cabin features a six-speaker sound system, remote start, cloth trim, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats. The 2025 Chevy Equinox LT starts at $31,800 for front-wheel drive or $33,860 for all-wheel drive with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Equinox Active

The new Equinox Active is available on 17-inch wheels, providing a slightly tougher look. You get a set of all-terrain tires, blacked-out badges, and evotex trim on the seats. The active model is also available with a two-tone paint finish for a few extra bucks, adding white on the roof. Wireless charging is standard on this model, and you'll find a power-adjustable driver's seat, a sportier flat bottom design steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control.

The Equinox Active has an auto-sensing hands-free rear liftgate, which is handy when you have both arms filled with groceries. The RS, meanwhile, is the sport-inspired model, where both side mirrors and badges get the blackout treatment. You can go two-tone here too, but the roof is black instead. At the corners, the RS wears 19-inch aluminum wheels in the cabin, featuring suede microfiber seat trim and a fully rounded steering wheel.

Features Comparison

I think you can get the most bang for your buck by sticking with the LT model. You still get the full-size screens inside, plus heated front seats and remote start. If you really want a power-adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone climate control, and wireless charging, you can always add those on via the $2,200 convenience package. Make sure to get the all-wheel drive model, though, as it will provide a slight bump in torque and an 8-speed automatic gearbox instead of the CVT.
