Interview With Vrvana CEO Bertrand Nepveu

In this morning session, we discussed various aspects of our work in the field of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). We began by flipping through pages of our show and exploring some of the interactive features that we've been working on. One of the exciting features is the ability to create opaque objects, which can be useful for various applications. Our team has also been working on a new type of object that allows users to transfer and match objects, effectively creating a validation process.

We also took a look at some of our previous projects and how they've evolved over time. One of our early prototypes was a virtual shopping experience, which allowed users to explore and interact with products in a fully immersive environment. We were able to create a high-fidelity model that simulated the feeling of being inside a car, complete with transparent surfaces and realistic sound effects.

Our team has also been working on integrating AR into various software platforms. We've developed our own SDK, which allows us to build custom applications without relying on third-party plugins or integrations. One of the challenges we faced was transitioning from AR to VR, which required us to figure out a way to handle alpha blending and other technical issues.

To overcome this challenge, we created a Unity plugin from scratch, which enabled us to seamlessly integrate our technology into popular games on Steam. We've also been working on developing new features, such as motion tracking, which will allow users to interact with virtual objects in a more immersive way.

We discussed the potential for our technology to be used in various industries, including retail and consumer products. While we're still in the early stages of development, we believe that our technology has the potential to revolutionize the way people interact with digital content. We're currently working on partnerships with major companies, including HTC, which will enable us to bring our technology to a wider audience.

One of the exciting developments is our ability to integrate our technology with existing hardware and software platforms. For example, we've developed a way to track users' movements using cameras, which can be useful for applications such as gaming and virtual try-on. We're also working on creating a new type of controller that will allow users to interact with virtual objects in a more natural way.

We discussed the potential price point for our technology, which could be comparable to other popular AR/VR devices on the market. However, we believe that the volume of sales will be much higher due to the vast potential applications of our technology. We're currently exploring partnerships and licensing agreements with major companies to bring our technology to a wider audience.

In terms of hardware, we've been experimenting with 3D printing techniques to create custom components for our devices. The results have been impressive, and we're excited to see where this technology will take us in the future. We also discussed the potential for our technology to be used in various industries, including retail and consumer products.

One of the interesting applications we're exploring is the use of our technology in gaming. We've been working with game developers to create immersive experiences that allow players to fully engage with virtual environments. Our technology has the potential to revolutionize the way people experience games, and we're excited to see where this will take us.

We also discussed the potential for our technology to be used in education and training applications. With the ability to create highly immersive and interactive simulations, our technology could revolutionize the way people learn new skills and interact with complex systems. We're currently exploring partnerships with educational institutions to bring our technology to a wider audience.

Overall, we're excited about the potential of our technology to transform various industries and aspects of life. With continued innovation and development, we believe that our technology will become an essential tool for anyone looking to experience the future of AR/VR.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: eneverybody I'm here with Goethe we have a who is the CEO and founder of for Ghana which had set that has integrated a R and B are you so you can you tell us so we started back in 2005 to boost e to VR on the Xbox 360 oh yeah that was kind of the grand scheme of things I think that Xbox 360 back then at the vest GP of the planet was at forefront of GP technology better than PC now it's a bit different but in 2005 that was the way it was in the industry okay so we started doing VR on the Xbox 360 but the technology was not ready for but then in 2012 we came with a proof-of-concept and then we started integrating cameras into her headset so started with two but now we have four cameras oh wow okay so we have two for AR that's so the active like eyes and then you have to mourn our infrared that will do and track inside of push back pain okay we also have infrared illuminators and we're adding soon laser to do some speckled pattern so you can triangulate and that map much more easy okay you guys were initially targeting the consumer product over to yeah so of course this can be made into a consumer product no problem but we on that we don't have the financial means for that to do it by ourselves so we're in talks with different big players to do licensing model with them but at the same time we've got lots of inbound requests from b2b application yeah so like amusement park or location-based entertainment of a car manufacturers real estate any kind of simulation we're doing our pre-production right now and we're gonna start shipping in the those units already all saw and so if someone who wants to get into that wants to buy ornaments but isn't in that first initial batch however they yeah so you can you can protect us have another we're doing a small batch of 15 units they're pretty much all so maybe we have a couple spot left depending on how exciting your project is the other is that some special cases so if someone is really what we're doing they can reach okay so we've got all the cameras and stuff yep what do you have inside what what kind of opportunities and watch the screen okay so people sometimes are surprised that we do everything ourselves we do our own optics we have an FPGA inside that does kind of the magic or mixed reality magic so our lenses are 120 degrees so they're friendlist Furcal similar to the ones in the wife yeah well I think you know you make you need to take a check on the nose and everything so they will look about the same if you want a wide field of view okay so like oculus themselves they say there are about 90 degrees HTC is about a 100 yeah 120 so you have 20% more horizontally and vertically so 40% more field of gentle okay so it makes a big difference and of course or cameras here they'll match 220 degrees still in you so you also have hundred and twenty degrees AR okay so you have both AR and VR 20 degrees so that's I think the most compelling feature when people try or a are they like oh my god did it that's what I wanted you know I saw that Microsoft video that it looked amazing but when I put it on there was so many zoos that field of view we can provide very wide screen okay yeah oh yeah so so it's an old ad 1440p okay so we have 1284 1440 bright of course it's slow persistence right now we're running at 75 Hertz okay but we're already in talks with different manufacturers to go at 90 s so the pre production will be at 75 but mass production will be at 9 years it's still the same resolution even our me so what about I child yes full method rendering is really important for the next steps for a solution okay so if we go like so right out with 1.5 k prize most we've got to keep our eye or 3k or 4k so Vincent rendering will be a must yeah so we're already talking with a few person in that field to integrate for a next-generation okay this thing right here your prototype is pretty yes this device right now so have you guys already produce any of the content so you're still waiting for the pre-production introduction so that it's a smaller batch will do silicone molding okay so the quality will be like injection molding but a fraction of the cost and it's more of a validation process sure so we if everything goes well with the 50 units that will go with full tooling that we'll be able to do thousands of users okay what's the timeline on that how long are you running yeah so we're targeting like q1 next year you have to cool furniture okay great yeah well I'm very interesting traffic so let's do this Oh make sure that you can read the text directly the lines are clear you see push sure to continue so you can push so you see we have an tracking and then you take that and then you flip it over so it's picking up this information through the QR code yeah so right now it was more easy easier for us to do portfolio experience so we have different just for us to know which object to put yeah so back to the future it can go even inside the car if you close one eye you can go pretty deep read the date on the dashboard oh wow this is cool and you can see we can do black colors something all the lines and meta and other device cannot do because if you're a projection based augmented reality what's black it's the absence of photons it's almost impossible to do blacks okay but since we're camera based we don't have that problem we can flip the pages well this morning yes of course oh wow it's Pikachu yes there's a little surprising side ticket sure if you go inside so this is more about in this show use case as I was saying with we do b2b yes we can we can do opaque object something others can do you know old lines is always semi-transparent we can do opaque objects book but we can also do transfer and object yes so you see you can match the object like that and it's kind of a validation process you can do so are you gonna be able to yes yes so go back to the car okay show you a little thing let's see then you can choose a color like that so that's kind of interaction yeah but we're gonna add more to be cool yeah those absortion they're right there so let's go back to so this one kind of virtual shopping experience oh yeah I'm glad this joy but you know people people are talking about presents in VR we're the only one who can do presence in AR so to prove you that you know you know it's a real trail but your subconscious mind is very powerful so if I go like that your brain will really freak out guys so just like your brain will believe that what he sees is real yeah yeah so it's the ultimate proof that we achieve presents in AR it's very cool watch out with that that's a more you like the last one so like that oh wow so this is a very high fidelity model you see we have to smoke and you're fully transparent everything but the sound of an Xbox controller you want to fly it home by girl so if you look on your left hand controls put some sounds so you feel more adverse because we're at the mercy and then I'll bring you in VR now you're in Dr just seamlessly transfer so you see in the middle that's a cockpit view use that to fly around okay and you'll be able to aim at the turret style make appear right now the person there you go I am horrible I've seen worse there we go all right good job should I bring you back this is cool thank you I like crazy Wow okay so I think I can see that what are you doing for software so we have our own SDK okay so we don't piggyback on any SDK me I have to do her own because real mr doesn't exist yet yeah there's no like plugins for that so we have to build everything yourself do you know transition from AR to be are we had to figure out a way to do that with the alpha blending and everything so we did a unity plugin from scratch to do that okay we have VR integration in unreal 2 and in order to have access all the great content on Steam we did a open dr a double driver okay so he can pristine games on yes exactly and of course will try to add a mark abilities to open VR maybe will ravenna to open mr and so what a port about tracking I know it's about yes I do track yeah plans and stuff what if what about things yeah so that's a great question right now I have my CTO and optical engineer at the Lighthouse we training week so they're there right now okay so we're going to add four sort of pre-production unfortunately because we're short of time it won't be like else embeddable yeah but their fault mass production will be okay so if you bring anything to referrals like the is shall we yesterday's that the new buy control with us because we can do an tracking so it'd be really useful because if you want to do and tracking you can use your cameras but if you want the the controllers to be compatible with Steam games then yeah we would integrate with light ups okay that's imagine that this is a beauty product and you've got you could be first if there were to come to retail for a consumer yes what kind of price target would you mean we would be like her bomb cos is the same as oculus and the vibe so we can be at the four 500 fries great no problem okay but its volume of millions of course so it's more of a partnership that we're looking to per day okay okay so your license back yes I've been like involved in with HTC yeah didn't want to go into mass production of hardware yeah so they decided to license they're designed to two HTC so it would be the same thing oh cool so if you were to do that one with the product be branded by that I think we did something maybe similar to Samsung gear VR which says powered by oculus okay so it would be powered by Verlander oh great yeah I can't wait to try the full production this ice a 3d printed like the far surpassed my expectations even after everyone was saying it was I wouldn't now you need to see it to believe exactly that's not hey Kevineverybody I'm here with Goethe we have a who is the CEO and founder of for Ghana which had set that has integrated a R and B are you so you can you tell us so we started back in 2005 to boost e to VR on the Xbox 360 oh yeah that was kind of the grand scheme of
