**Deepcool Captain 240 EX Review and Upgrades**
As I continue to explore the world of PC cooling and case upgrades, I recently had the opportunity to work with the Deepcool Captain 240 EX. This case has received widespread acclaim for its sleek design and robust features, which caught my attention immediately. In this article, I'll delve into the details of my experience with the Deepcool Captain 240 EX, including its performance, features, and upgrades.
One of the first things I noticed about the case was its excellent airflow. The case's design allows for easy access to the power supply, which is a great feature for those who plan to install a modular PSU. However, be sure to plug in your cables before installing the power supply, as it can be a bit tricky to work with once it's secured in place. Additionally, I appreciated the built-in fan controller, which allows me to control three fans, including my radiator fans and front intake fan. This feature was a game-changer for me, as it allowed me to fine-tune my cooling setup and keep my temperatures in check.
Another aspect of the case that impressed me was its cable management options. The case features a number of channels and cable ties, which made it easy to keep my cables organized and tidy. I also appreciated the built-in LED strip lighting, which added a touch of elegance to the case's design. However, I did notice that the case's material felt a bit flimsy at times, particularly when removing the front panel. But with a little patience and some clever trickery (such as using pliers to squeeze the clips on the back side of the panel), it was possible to remove the panel without any issues.
One of the upgrades I added to my case was a 1lot red LED strip, which added an extra layer of lighting to the case's design. I also installed some extensions that I had lying around to keep the inside of the case tidy and organized. Overall, I was impressed with the Deepcool Captain 240 EX's ability to improve the overall aesthetic and functionality of my build.
**Performance and Thermal Performance**
As for thermal performance, I was pleased to find that the Deepcool Captain 240 EX delivered excellent results. The case's design and features allowed me to achieve great cooling performance without sacrificing any airflow or noise levels. Additionally, the case's modular design made it easy to add more fans or adjust my cooling setup as needed.
In terms of headroom for thermal performance, I was pleased to find that the Deepcool Captain 240 EX provided plenty of room for improvement. With an overclocked 3770k, I was able to achieve temperatures in the mid-50s without breaking a sweat – and with the added support of an all-in-one cooler on my graphics card (which we'll be discussing in part two of this series), I'm confident that I can keep temperatures even lower.
**Upgrades and Future Plans**
As for upgrades, I was pleased to find that the Deepcool Captain 240 EX is highly adaptable and easy to work with. In fact, one of my favorite features of the case is its ability to accommodate custom coolers like the Kraken G10 – which will be featured in part two of this series. To achieve optimal performance on this cooler, I'll be using a combination of copper shims and Berg's (aka Homebot Hero) expertise. With these upgrades, I'm confident that I'll be able to take my system to new heights and achieve unparalleled cooling performance.
In conclusion, the Deepcool Captain 240 EX is an excellent case that offers a great balance of features, aesthetics, and affordability. Its modular design, excellent airflow, and built-in fan controller make it an ideal choice for builders who want to create a powerful and efficient system without sacrificing any style or flair. With its ability to accommodate custom coolers and upgrades, I'm confident that this case will continue to be a popular choice among PC enthusiasts for years to come.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up everybody this is Chris AKA Hellen with the Coalition games crew and and today I'm going to be upgrading my computer with all-in-one cooling all right so what I've been planning on doing is a uh an all-in-one cooling solution but I'm also going to be doing the GPU that'll be in part two of the video I have a Corsair h55 with the Kraken G10 and that's what's going to go on my 970 for the win plus Edition but today what I'm going to be doing is upgrading my computer here which was uh coming from a Silverstone case that I got for free through a special intel program and it's been really nice so far but it's time to move on especially because it doesn't really fit a 240 mm AIO in the top even though technically it would but then the radiator the fans might have to stick out and it wouldn't be very pretty whatever the case is this deep cool du case V2 is definitely going to do the trick it has a spot specifically for 240 mm radiators right here in the top and it's got plenty of space on the inside as well as a really nice GPU uh uh sorry a power supply enclosure uh so it's going to make the the whole look very clean on the inside with when all is said and done can't wait to try out this Captain 240 ex also by Deep cool it's the all-in-one cooler that I got to go with my setup and it just looks really awesome it's well reviewed from what I can find there's been a couple of issues from what I've seen like on NewEgg and stuff but basically if you got one that work Straight Out of the Box you're in pretty pretty good shape uh beyond that you know just get a exchange or our made or something don't don't put on something you got that was broken already from the box but uh but generally if it's good to go right away you'll be good so I can't wait to get this in I'm going to go ahead and get this torn down now so we can start doing the part swap over okay so I've made some progress here I've went ahead and torn down the old computer and that's going to be given to a friend of mine that's going to to fellow Coalition gaming member Rusty I went ahead and performed the transplant as well and have a look at that right here oh yeah look at that it still has some uh some final touches needed but uh I've went ahead and also gotten the captain ready got that in a push configuration I cleaned off the stock thermal paste I'm going to be using mx4 and look at that thing that is just the coolest thing coolest so cool thing about this case is it has a door right on the top to get that mounted check that out so I'm going to go ahead and mount that in and then I'll show you guys how it looks all right so I've got it installed and here I've got the system have a look all right look at that that's a bright LED strip that I got but there's the AO cooler glowing it's got a little pulse like a heartbeat see the fans running up there all right here you can see the top of the radi rator since I don't have the door on yet Next Step temps all right so here I've got the computer set up as you can see this is a new spot before it would go in this cubby under my desk this is much better I really like it up there and it's going to be less Dusty probably as a result too uh I've been running Prime 95 now for about 45 minutes current temps right now are the low 60s I got core zero at 61c or 60c now core one at 61 Core 2 at 62 core 3 at 62 it's doing really good that's already a 10 plus uh degrees celi uh improvement over my uh hyper 212 plus that I had before that so it's uh it's working out pretty good uh overall the reviews on it that I've read said that it's pretty good as well and uh this corroborates that so definitely an approval from me on the on the Deep cool Captain 240 ex as far as the Deep cool case I'm really liking it as well there is some uh some little things with the putting in the power supply and all that stuff make sure if you have a modular one you have your stuff plugged into it first before you put it in because once your power supply is secured in the enclosure on the bottom of the case it's a little harder to get in there with your hands unless you have small hands to plug things in uh just as well I'm really happy that the uh the LED D strip lit up the glass along the edges it actually looks kind of nice I'm not sure if you can tell so much in the uh with the video rolling on it there but you can see the the red along the lines on it so it's pretty nice really like that the LED strip something that I added though was was a 1ot red LED strip but you'll see if you add your own the case does have a channel for it so that that kind of accommodates for that uh as far as the rest of the case it's not too heavy it feels pretty strong the uh taking the front panel off some people have said that you feel like you're going to break the the panel removing it however the trick is to to squeeze with some pliers the little Clips on the back side of it and then pull and it comes out a lot easier than if you just try to brew force that thing off so uh there are some some tricks that you can use to uh to make things a little easier when it comes to that one thing I really liked about it as well is the built-in uh fan controller can control to so three fans I have both the radiator fans on it as well as the front intake fan uh I'll be quiet right now so you can hear the difference by by turning it from high to Middle to low so right now it's on high that's medium there's no push it all the way back up to high so that's a nice little switch on the top of the case to to adjust that you don't need anything extra to do it it just works which is nice overall I'm really happy with these upgrades the case looks a lot cleaner than my previous one I found some extensions that I had lying around to keep the inside a little nicer as well instead of having to run one cable across that really made things ugly like I did in my last case uh the Deep cool do case V2 is really nice definitely recommend it for 50 bucks you can't really go wrong with a case like this um it's nice the the enclosure for the power SPL at the bottom is great it helps to helps clean up the whole look and uh and it's good for Micro ATX full ATX it's great I really do like it and with the way everything fit in there it's just like it was meant to be and I know it's designed to be but it's it works out so so well uh the Deep cool Captain 240 ex also works great highly recommend it um it's not crazy with the temps as far as reducing them but at least now I know I have over 10° of Headroom of thermal head room uh when I decide to overclock my 3770k which I probably just go to 4.2 GHz and adjust voltage from there I he it's pretty easy to get there and I don't know if I'll push it on the next video we're going to go to part two of this stage two essentially I'm going to put an all- inone cooler on the graphics card and the little issues that I'm going to have with that that I've discovered so far is trying to get a kraken G10 like this to work with on a graphics card that has a back plate and a mid plate they're actually very important to keep on the card if you have them because it helps with the rigidity of the card the mid plate also helps cool the vrms and the vram which is pretty important because something like this on a custom PC board especially with my EVGA for the win plus edition of my 970 the vrms aren't where the fan this blows so it needs all the help it can get when it comes to that the cooler itself the h55 will do perfectly fine on the GPU itself and keeping the mid plate on there is really going to help with the temps on the rest of the equipment on the car so I can't wait to install that there the trick that it's going to be using is a copper shim working with Bergs AKA homebot Hero on that one and uh we you guys will check that out soon Sig offwhat's up everybody this is Chris AKA Hellen with the Coalition games crew and and
