What's Up Everybody: Jailbreaking iOS 4.3.4 with Red Snow 0.9.8 Beta 3
We're here today to discuss how you can jailbreak your iPhone, 3GS, iPod Touch fourth and third gens, and original iPad on iOS 4.3.4 using Red Snow 0.9.8 beta 3. This is a tether jailbreak, which means that if your battery dies or you turn off your device, you'll need to use your computer to reboot it in order to avoid being stuck on the Apple logo.
I want to emphasize that I do not recommend updating to 4.3.4 if you're currently running any lower firmware, as this is a tether jailbreak and can be quite inconvenient. Additionally, there will not be an untethered jailbreak available for a while, so it's best to stay on your current firmware. If you have an iPad 2, please note that this jailbreak does not work yet, as it took a long time to find an untethered jailbreak on 4.3.3 and it will likely take the same amount of time to find one on the newer firmware.
Before we begin, make sure you have both Red Snow 0.9.8 beta 3 and your 4.3.4 IPSW firmware file ready for installation. If you're using a Windows computer, I recommend running as administrator if you encounter any issues with Red Snow on your PC. Now, let's get started.
To start the jailbreaking process, plug in your device and run Red Snow. This will begin the process of updating your device to the latest version of iOS. Once this is complete, you'll see a new window appear with various options for customizing your jailbreak experience. For now, we'll keep things simple and follow the on-screen instructions.
Next, we need to browse for our 4.3.4 IPSW firmware file and click "next." This will start the process of patching the kernel on your device. Take a moment to review any additional options that may appear, as these can affect your jailbreak experience.
Now, let's move on to installing Cydia and enabling battery percentage display. We'll also make sure to keep these settings selected for future use. Once you've confirmed all of the necessary settings, click "next" to continue with the jailbreaking process.
As we approach the final stages of the process, it's time to shut down our device. Click "next" and then press power for 3-2-1 together with your home button. Let go of the power button and hold onto the home button until you see the white screen appear on your device. This is a normal part of the process and should not cause any issues.
Give it about 5-10 minutes, and your device will be fully jailbroken. You can now open up Cydia to access a wide range of third-party apps and tweaks that are not available through the official App Store.
To boot into Cydia after each reboot, simply plug in your device, run Red Snow, and select "just boot tethered" from the main menu. Then, hold home and power until you see the white screen appear on your device. Once this is complete, you should be able to access Cydia and begin exploring the many customization options available.
