Apple's WWDC Event: A Comprehensive Look at Mac OS 10 Yosemite
What's going on guys, it's Brenda here BB's iPod Touch help and Apple just held their annual WWDC Event in San Francisco this afternoon and Tim Cook and Apple announced the new OS 10 Yosemite. Now, the main focus for Yosemite was on continuity and major UI improvements.
The new design of Yosemite is quite impressive, as can be seen from the picture provided. The flat design has translucent panels, giving it a much more modern look than the current version of OS 10. The dock has also been improved, with a flat and modern look that enhances the overall user experience. Moreover, there's a new dark mode feature which dims the interface, providing better focus while working.
The notification center has seen significant improvements with the introduction of the new Today View. This feature basically shows you all the events scheduled for today and anything that was going on or is set to go on during the day. Users can also add third-party widgets to the notification center, such as Score Center or any others that are available to download. This makes it really cool and convenient to see scores from various sports like baseball, football, and basketball right from your notification center.
Spotlight Light has also received a makeover, with a redesigned version that offers better functionality. Not only can it solve math problems and provide instant web searches using Wikipedia, but it can also do equations automatically. For example, if you type in "two miles," the Spotlight will automatically show you kilometers or inches, depending on your preference.
Another significant feature introduced by Yosemite is iCloud Drive, which serves as a Dropbox competitor. It brings all your files from iPhone and iCloud into one place, putting them right in your Finder file menu. These files will sync across all devices that have an iCloud account associated with it.
The mail app has also received a bit of redesign and a smoother look, although it also comes with a new feature called Mail Drop. This allows users to send and receive large files up to five gigs using iCloud. Not only is this convenient for sending big attachments, but it's also great for sharing files between devices without the need for an external storage drive.
Safari has undergone a significant transformation as well, with a new design that offers better UI. Apple claims that the new Safari runs JavaScript code faster than any other web browser on the market today. Additionally, Airdrop is now compatible with OS 10 to iOS, allowing users to send files back and forth between their Macs and iPhones without needing a USB cable.
Another feature that may go unnoticed by some users is the location awareness when sending emails or text messages. If you're typing an email or text message on your phone, opening up your computer's Messages app will display what you've typed so far, almost like a saved draft. This allows you to continue where you left off seamlessly.
Finally, Yosemite has enabled the ability to take phone calls directly from your Mac. Not only can you answer incoming calls on your iPhone and use it as a speakerphone, but you can also dial out using your Mac's keyboard. This makes managing your communication across devices much easier.
In conclusion, Mac OS 10 Yosemite is packed with exciting features that improve the overall user experience. From its modern design to innovative functionality, this new operating system is sure to make a significant impact on how we interact with our computers and mobile devices. As it's available for developers now and will be released to the public later this fall, stay tuned for more coverage of all the other announcements at WWDC, including iOS 8.
