iOS 14.5.1 Hidden Menu & More

Apple Introduced New App Tracking Feature in iOS 14.5

Apple recently introduced a new app tracking feature that is under privacy, which can be found by heading over to privacy in settings and then going to tracking. This feature allows users to allow or not allow apps to track them for advertising purposes. However, upon the release of iOS 14.5, this feature was initially grayed out for some users, and it didn't work properly. To address these issues, Apple released iOS 14.5.1 to fix the problems experienced by some users.

One of the main concerns with the app tracking feature in iOS 14.5 was that it wasn't working as intended, leading to frustration among users. By releasing iOS 14.5.1, Apple aimed to resolve this issue and provide a better user experience. Additionally, there were also some WebKit concerns and security flaws within the OS for Mac, iPadOS, iOS, and other areas that required attention.

Interesting Menu in Find My Application

When heading over to the Find My application, users can access a special menu by tapping four to five times on the actual name of the AirTag. This is a secret menu that was not intended to be publicly accessible. Reddit users discovered this feature, which appears to have been overlooked by Apple.

The menu reveals several toggles and options, including Proximity Mode and Interactive Mode. These features are likely being tested by Apple, but they shouldn't be visible in the standard Find My application. Tapping on these options switches them on and off, showcasing the capabilities of the AirTag tracking system.

Personal Experience with iOS 14.5

One user who has been experiencing issues with iOS 14.5 is having problems with battery recalibration for battery health on their iPhone 11 model. The device displays a message stating that it was unable to verify this iPhone's battery as genuine, which can affect the accuracy of battery-related data.

The user did not replace the battery on their iPhone 11 and didn't experience this issue initially. However, after updating to iOS 14.5, they encountered the problem. They had to reboot their device to resolve the issue. This has happened twice already, suggesting a potential software bug or incompatibility with their specific model.

Battery Health Issue

The user who is experiencing this issue is unsure if this is an isolated incident or a widespread problem affecting other iPhone 11 models as well. They have had their iPhone for a long time and never replaced the battery, making it unlikely that the issue is related to battery replacement or age. The user finds it interesting that this problem arose with iOS 14.5's new feature.

Performance of iOS 14.5

Despite some issues with the app tracking feature and battery recalibration, overall performance on the iPhone has been impressive in iOS 14.5. The software is polished, and users haven't reported any major complaints regarding performance or battery life.

Personal experiences with iOS 14.5 and its features are crucial to understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the operating system. While some issues have been encountered, they don't seem to detract from the overall user experience.
