DIY _ CUTEST HOME-MADE PARTY FAVORS

### DIY Party Favors: Creative Ideas for Kids' Events

#### Introduction

Welcome back to part two of our "Party Favorites" episode! Last week, we shared some fun ideas for party favors, and the overwhelming favorite was the memory game. Today, we’re excited to show you three more creative and affordable DIY party favor ideas that your kids (and their parents) will love. So, let’s dive into these projects!

#### 1. Chalkboard Blocks: A Fun Party Favor with a Personal Touch

If you loved my chalkboard blocks video, you’ll be thrilled to know we’re bringing this idea back—and even better! These 1x1 wooden blocks are an excellent party favor because they’re not only fun but also give kids something to do at home. Here’s how I created them:

- **Materials Needed:**

- Wooden blocks (available on Amazon for $10 per bag).

- Chalkboard paint.

- Acrylic paints and brushes (optional, for an interactive party activity).

- Word stickers from Heidi Swab (these are adorable and come in a pack).

- Ribbon or string for decoration.

- A burlap sack or small container to hold the blocks.

- A tag and opener for easy access.

- **How to Make It:**

1. Paint the wooden blocks with chalkboard paint. I chose this because it gives them a cute, rustic look, but you can also leave them unfinished and let the kids paint them at the party using acrylic paints and brushes.

2. Once painted, decorate the packaging with word stickers. These add a fun and personal touch, and they come in so many options!

3. Tie everything together with some ribbon or string.

4. Place the blocks in a burlap sack or small container, add a tag, and include an opener so kids can easily access their blocks.

This favor is perfect because it’s both practical and fun. Kids love getting something they can play with immediately, and having chalkboard blocks means they’ll have hours of creative fun at home!

#### 2. Seeds in a Planter: A Growing Gift for Little Gardeners

For our second idea, we’re taking things to the next level with seeds in a planter. These are not only adorable but also functional—perfect for kids who love gardening or nature.

- **Materials Needed:**

- Terracotta pots (you can use ones you already have lying around).

- Spray paint (gold gloss or white gloss works well).

- Acrylic paints and brushes.

- Chalkboard paint (for a fun, personalized touch).

- Potting soil.

- Seeds of your choice (flowers, herbs, or even vegetables).

- Plastic wrap, ribbon, and any embellishments you like.

- **How to Make It:**

1. Paint the terracotta pots using spray paint. I tried two different looks:

- **Option 1:** Gold gloss with a teal-acrylic-painted top.

- **Option 2:** White gloss on the bottom and chalkboard paint on the top for a cute, personalized design.

2. Once painted, add any embellishments you like—stickers, chalkboard signs, or even just a ribbon around the pot.

3. Fill the pots with soil and seeds of your choice. You can write instructions or let kids personalize their own pots using chalkboard paint if you’ve added it as part of the design.

These planters are not only a fun party favor but also a meaningful gift that will grow over time. Plus, they’re great for teaching kids about responsibility and nature!

#### 3. Treasure Chest Filled with Treasures: A Pirate-Themed Party Favor

If you love the idea of a treasure chest as much as I do (especially if you’re a fan of *The Goonies* like me!), then this party favor is perfect for you. It’s simple, fun, and customizable to any theme.

- **Materials Needed:**

- A small unfinished wooden chest or similar container.

- Spray paint (gold shiny spray paint works best for that weathered look).

- Jewels, necklaces, rings, candy coins, or other trinkets.

- Pirate-themed decorations like an eye patch or a mini treasure map.

- **How to Make It:**

1. Paint the chest with gold shiny spray paint. I did one light coat for a weathered, worn look, but you can customize it however you’d like!

2. Fill the chest with your favorite treasures—jewels, necklaces, rings, candy coins, and more.

3. Add pirate-themed embellishments like an eye patch or a tiny treasure map to make it extra fun.

This favor is perfect for a pirate-themed party but can also work for other themes like a girl’s jewelry party. The best part? Kids love opening their own little treasure chest and going through all the goodies inside!
