Samsung Galaxy S5 Tips & Tricks!

**Galaxy S5 Tips and Tricks: A Comprehensive Guide**

Every spring, Samsung releases its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S series, along with the most recent version of its Touch screen technology. This year, we’re diving into the Galaxy S5 to uncover some useful tips and tricks that can enhance your experience with this device.

### Fingerprint Scanner Setup

The Galaxy S5 fingerprint scanner is a handy tool for safeguarding your phone. Here’s how to set it up:

1. Open **Settings** > **Personalization** > **Fingerprint Scanner**.

2. Swipe down to the home button to unlock your device.

3. This feature also allows authentication with apps like PayPal and LastPass.

To ensure proper scanning, press your finger all the way down. A tip from Kevin is to tap and hold for a second before sliding it down.

### Emergency Settings

Prepare for emergencies with these steps:

1. Go to **Settings** > **System** > **Safety Assistance**.

2. Turn on “Send help messages” to enable sending your location and an SOS text message to a designated contact.

3. Press the power button three times quickly to activate this feature, which also sends pictures from both rear and front cameras.

Don’t forget to set up your emergency contact within these settings for effective communication during crises.

### Navigating Settings Efficiently

Samsung packed the Galaxy S5 with over 130 settings, making navigation a bit challenging. Here’s a pro tip:

- Use the **Search icon** in the top right corner of the Settings menu.

- Even if you don’t know the exact name of a setting (like “ring tone”), typing a keyword like “ring” will bring up relevant options.

This feature significantly streamlines your search process, saving time and effort.

### Camera Features

The Galaxy S5 boasts a 16-megapixel ISO cell camera, offering advanced features:

#### Selective Focus Mode

- Activate this mode by selecting the button with two people.

- Take a picture of someone within 1.5 meters for a depth-of-field effect akin to DSLR cameras.

- After capturing the image, you can adjust focus levels from near to far using the edit option.

#### Filters and Effects

- To apply filters, go to **Settings** > **Effects** and select your desired filter.

- Note that some shooting settings are removed when a filter is applied. A workaround is to take an unfiltered photo first, then add effects during editing.

### 4K Video Recording

For high-quality video recording:

1. Access the camera app by dragging from the bottom right corner of the lock screen in any direction.

2. Enter **Settings** > **Video Size** and select UHD (4K) for the best resolution.

However, be mindful of the increased file size and battery consumption when recording in 4K.

### Ultimate Power Save Mode

Optimize your battery life with this feature:

1. Go to the notification bar and select **Quick Settings**.

2. Choose **Power Saving Mode**, which turns your device to grayscale and disables mobile data, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth when the screen is off.

For additional savings, disable unused features like S Beam or Motion.

### Increased Screen Sensitivity

If you’re in a cold climate:

1. Navigate to **Settings** > **Display**.

2. Enable “Increased screen sensitivity” for easier glove use. However, be aware of potential phantom presses due to the enhanced sensitivity.

### Disabling Touch Sounds

Frustrated by the blooping sound when touching the screen? Here’s how to silence it:

1. Go to **Settings** > **Sound**.

2. Uncheck “Touch sounds” under the options menu.

This feature is a must for users who find the noise annoying.

### Toolbox Feature

Customize your shortcuts with the Toolbox:

1. Activate this feature via Quick Settings, where you’ll see a floating white circle on your screen.

2. Click on the circle to access selected applications and rearrange them as needed.

3. From Quick Settings, long-press the Toolbox icon to select up to five apps or edit existing ones.
