End of An Era for the Smurrf Mustang

The Challenges and Rewards of Installing a RTR Tactical Exhaust System

I tried everything to get through this exhaust installation process and it was a monumental pain in the butt, I can tell you what's been the hardest part is the mid-pipe connection. It's a why right here, that's what makes it so hard, not the hangers or any of that, just that last piece of work.

My first true test drive with the RTR tactical exhaust system was a day I'll never forget. I'm here with my buddy CJ Yellow, who has been in the car with me before with the Roush axle-backs quite a few times. I wanted to see how it would affect me, and if it was just possible for me to drive without feeling like I needed earplugs.

Driving is something that's always been important to me, and I've spent countless hours perfecting my driving skills. When you're in a loud car, it can be exhilarating, but when you're not, it can be a completely different story. In the past, I've had to deal with noise complaints from neighbors, which was frustrating, especially since I genuinely felt that some people just didn't care about being heard.

But with this new exhaust system, I feel like I'm in a different world. The sound is no longer deafening, and it's not distracting me from driving. I can finally focus on the road ahead, without worrying about what my neighbors might think. It's funny, when you're younger, people don't care if you're making noise with your car - they just assume you're being loud because that's what most cars are like.

Now, as I get older, I realize that there's more to consider. Disturbing the peace is something that can affect anyone, regardless of their age or circumstances. It's not about me, it's about considering those around us. And I think that's one of the main reasons why this exhaust system is so great - it allows me to enjoy my car without disturbing others.

I had a chance to drive on the highway yesterday evening, and it was perfect. The sound is just right, it's not too loud or too quiet. It's like music to my ears, and I can finally focus on driving. I don't have to worry about hearing the noise bouncing off of buildings or houses - it's all gone.

I also had a chance to talk to CJ about his experience with the exhaust system, and he said that it's been a game-changer for him too. He loves the sound of the exhaust, but he also appreciates the fact that it's not as loud as it used to be. For me, that's what makes this exhaust system so great - it's the perfect balance between sound and performance.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with my new RTR tactical exhaust system. It's been a challenge to install, but the end result is well worth it. If you're thinking of making a similar upgrade, I say go for it! It's definitely worth the effort, and I'll be sure to post more about my experience with it in the future.

If you guys want to see what this exhaust system does, check out my previous videos where I had the Roush axle-backs installed. Now that I have the new exhaust system, it's like a whole different car. I'll be uploading more content every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, so be sure to subscribe and hit that notification bell.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: entoday hey what's up guys david here and summer is finally back on the road did not see we fixed the ProCharger tensioner that went out on this car and it is now back to the 630 wheel horsepower monster it is it is one of my favorite cars in the that dude in blue fleet and it's the og it's one of my favorites back in 2012 the day I got this car I put a Roush axle back exhaust on it but I still had the factory headers I saw the factory catalytic converters still had all that stuff but now I have stainless works long tube headers along with an x-pipe and high flow catback system the car got a lot louder now does it sound glorious hear for yourself so yeah it sounds incredibly badass but the cold start is atrociously loud and anything above 3000 rpm is just excruciatingly loud fortunately I can't get on this car that often because you wake the space station I know it sounds weird as a car guy saying a car is too loud but I'm getting to the point where I don't want to annoy my neighbors I want to be courteous at the same time I want to be able to enjoy the car more without getting in so much trouble without everybody knowing if that makes sense so today we're gonna be changing the Roush axle back exhaust to the RTR axle back exhaust the RTR tactical these are a little bit louder than stock and we still get the snaps and the crackles and all that good stuff my goal with the RTR tactical is to take the Roush muffler sound and just dial back the decibels just a hair so that is our goal for today and let's get started all right so here is our RTR tactical exhaust one notable thing is that these pieces the tip and the muffler itself come detach so use a clamp I've already clamped this thing on there it's very straight forward so when we install it it'll be really easy the way this works is an axle-back is just a muffler system axle-backs typically do not get any performance gains and if they do your butt's not gonna notice that a full throttle I got these RTR topicals off of American Muscle so big banks to am once again for hooking me up at the same time you'll notice it's actually made by Magnaflow it's a joint effort between RTR which is monk getting juniors company and Magnaflow the dual chamber system and everything is pretty cool mufflers the way they work is basically there's a bunch of stacks of stuff inside the muffler to create the different sound and to create well the muffler effects the Roush mufflers once I get those off I'll show how much smaller they are and how they're basically just like going straight pipe essentially to be honest with you here's the Roush muffler assembly that's been on the car since 2012 which is crazy to think I feel like that was just yesterday here are the exhaust hangers there's one here and there's two up front and I find it much easier if you're doing this at home without a lift to just literally take the hanger off when I did this the first time I did it with my dad and we brought it home brought the car home from the dealership we put up on the ramps the same ramps that are behind that camera actually and we instantly modified the car and it was just funny brand new car and I already had parks in the garage for it comes that excited for this thing oh yeah also there's a clamp hooking onto the over axle pipes that's also the same same measurement then here is the clamp and over axle pipe one else telling you about so that will be my next big one to get please get on think okay hanger so there's the major hanger assembly see now I didn't have to worry about getting one of the prongs off the hanger okay so after a lot of battles here's the roush muffler as you can see it's not a muffler it's a whole lot of nothing so I'm just gonna do the exact same technique I just did remember don't do the third one and then you'll be good and notice that the over axle pipes kind of like to hang on a lot harder than everything else so I just got hit in the face by that muffler on the second one as soon as it came loose Duke right my eye I feel gross and can't breathe because of asthma problems love this time when you only have this to play with it's hard to get these into the hanger will also clamping down the mid pipe okay so we got one done miss Alejandra my lovely lady helped me out a lot actually much easier to do this with two people it's completely possible for one but you have to be one talented mofo here's the exhaust tip looks pretty cool my little trick with the exhaust hanger apparently only works on every muffler except these because this what's in - - when the original muffler and the Roush muffler only have one and that gives me room to put the hanger back on this one does not I tried everything to get through here and there there put up the hanger and then slide it on this guy's always the hardest most definitely and then the clamp okay so I got the other one on now - it was a monumental pain in the butt I can tell you what the mid-pipe what's the clash with the mid pipe connection where it's a why right here and that's what makes it so hard not the hangers none of that the last thing here is always annoying but that's just to be expected the log or team so it has been a day and this is kind of my first true test drive with the RTR tactical that I'm here with my buddy CJ yellow he's my classy euro knowledge I guess you could say yeah but he has been in the car with me with the Roush axle-backs quite a few times yeah I kind of wanted a passenger with me it kind of worked out so I didn't know if it was just possible effect for me know of how different it is it sounds like I was telling you like when you were driving before I could hear like I could hear the noise bouncing off of that house or that sigh you know but now it's like it's tamed and it sounds like well I think how a coyote motor shits out yeah like it's just it's perfect it's all blower noise down if stainless works long tubes down to a high flow cats system to an x-pipe then - these are TRS are TRS kind of brings it all together with without it being completely unleashed with some people will like but you know I had it completely unleashed for almost six years yeah I know so I drove a exhaustless e46 330ci zhp looks like the m3 but I doubt the m3 motor yeah and that was like deafening it like literally yes it has its pros because it sounds it sounded great like no other BMW ever sounded like that but now I can I can focus on driving much more because when the Roush mufflers were there I love them to death but it almost made me feel like my car was breaking if it almost made me feel like it was distracting me from driving so I was so worried about my surroundings and in like scary another piano area if somebody flies past you with your old mufflers on then like calling in yeah for sure you are a reckless child I know what I mean but this one sounds like a nice guy just getting on his Mustang yeah yeah it feels like my car is almost a little slower but it's because it's so much more controlled and tamed that I look at the speedo go oh no it's not slower it's not it's just the fact that I'm not worried about everything else surrounding me like when you're in a loud car it's it's cool and especially it was when I was 16 I had my BMW yeah it's great you know like nobody cares like I don't get to have a care in the world but when you get a little older and you start having responsibilities like tickets and stuff like that and like well that ends this cold start today no one blinked no one like turn their head on anything and I kind of like that now because I used to get noise complaints all the time it didn't matter where I lived apartments whatever I genuinely felt that some people just go oh screw them it's your car exactly but for me personally like that's like it's kind of something out of the way cuz at the same time it is your car hey but I do understand now that I'm getting older like disturbing the peace it's like right like I like not everybody wants to hear your protons Mustang right and 10:00 p.m. coming or good caffeine and octane at 7:00 in the exact live in the morning exactly sounded perfect last night when I was sleeping or about to go to sleep I was split the whole time boy did I take Smurfs character away maybe a little but not enough to justify going back to it I think I would regret it putting the other ones back on for now but maybe down the road I'll do like a cutout system or something if I want to be crazy every once in a while just do a cutout system but that's down the road but thank you mr. CJ for cruising with me all right everyone I upload every Tuesday Thursday and Saturday and what do you guys think about the RTR tactical exhaust let me know in comment section below and I will see you guys next time and make sure to hit that subscribe and notification bell that nobody likes so see you later goodbye hey you want clean wheels hey use this spray on let's sit for 45 seconds and turn purple berry again with water clean wheels make sure to check out www.hsn.com made by car dudes for car dudestoday hey what's up guys david here and summer is finally back on the road did not see we fixed the ProCharger tensioner that went out on this car and it is now back to the 630 wheel horsepower monster it is it is one of my favorite cars in the that dude in blue fleet and it's the og it's one of my favorites back in 2012 the day I got this car I put a Roush axle back exhaust on it but I still had the factory headers I saw the factory catalytic converters still had all that stuff but now I have stainless works long tube headers along with an x-pipe and high flow catback system the car got a lot louder now does it sound glorious hear for yourself so yeah it sounds incredibly badass but the cold start is atrociously loud and anything above 3000 rpm is just excruciatingly loud fortunately I can't get on this car that often because you wake the space station I know it sounds weird as a car guy saying a car is too loud but I'm getting to the point where I don't want to annoy my neighbors I want to be courteous at the same time I want to be able to enjoy the car more without getting in so much trouble without everybody knowing if that makes sense so today we're gonna be changing the Roush axle back exhaust to the RTR axle back exhaust the RTR tactical these are a little bit louder than stock and we still get the snaps and the crackles and all that good stuff my goal with the RTR tactical is to take the Roush muffler sound and just dial back the decibels just a hair so that is our goal for today and let's get started all right so here is our RTR tactical exhaust one notable thing is that these pieces the tip and the muffler itself come detach so use a clamp I've already clamped this thing on there it's very straight forward so when we install it it'll be really easy the way this works is an axle-back is just a muffler system axle-backs typically do not get any performance gains and if they do your butt's not gonna notice that a full throttle I got these RTR topicals off of American Muscle so big banks to am once again for hooking me up at the same time you'll notice it's actually made by Magnaflow it's a joint effort between RTR which is monk getting juniors company and Magnaflow the dual chamber system and everything is pretty cool mufflers the way they work is basically there's a bunch of stacks of stuff inside the muffler to create the different sound and to create well the muffler effects the Roush mufflers once I get those off I'll show how much smaller they are and how they're basically just like going straight pipe essentially to be honest with you here's the Roush muffler assembly that's been on the car since 2012 which is crazy to think I feel like that was just yesterday here are the exhaust hangers there's one here and there's two up front and I find it much easier if you're doing this at home without a lift to just literally take the hanger off when I did this the first time I did it with my dad and we brought it home brought the car home from the dealership we put up on the ramps the same ramps that are behind that camera actually and we instantly modified the car and it was just funny brand new car and I already had parks in the garage for it comes that excited for this thing oh yeah also there's a clamp hooking onto the over axle pipes that's also the same same measurement then here is the clamp and over axle pipe one else telling you about so that will be my next big one to get please get on think okay hanger so there's the major hanger assembly see now I didn't have to worry about getting one of the prongs off the hanger okay so after a lot of battles here's the roush muffler as you can see it's not a muffler it's a whole lot of nothing so I'm just gonna do the exact same technique I just did remember don't do the third one and then you'll be good and notice that the over axle pipes kind of like to hang on a lot harder than everything else so I just got hit in the face by that muffler on the second one as soon as it came loose Duke right my eye I feel gross and can't breathe because of asthma problems love this time when you only have this to play with it's hard to get these into the hanger will also clamping down the mid pipe okay so we got one done miss Alejandra my lovely lady helped me out a lot actually much easier to do this with two people it's completely possible for one but you have to be one talented mofo here's the exhaust tip looks pretty cool my little trick with the exhaust hanger apparently only works on every muffler except these because this what's in - - when the original muffler and the Roush muffler only have one and that gives me room to put the hanger back on this one does not I tried everything to get through here and there there put up the hanger and then slide it on this guy's always the hardest most definitely and then the clamp okay so I got the other one on now - it was a monumental pain in the butt I can tell you what the mid-pipe what's the clash with the mid pipe connection where it's a why right here and that's what makes it so hard not the hangers none of that the last thing here is always annoying but that's just to be expected the log or team so it has been a day and this is kind of my first true test drive with the RTR tactical that I'm here with my buddy CJ yellow he's my classy euro knowledge I guess you could say yeah but he has been in the car with me with the Roush axle-backs quite a few times yeah I kind of wanted a passenger with me it kind of worked out so I didn't know if it was just possible effect for me know of how different it is it sounds like I was telling you like when you were driving before I could hear like I could hear the noise bouncing off of that house or that sigh you know but now it's like it's tamed and it sounds like well I think how a coyote motor shits out yeah like it's just motor yeah and that was like deafening it like literally yes it has its pros because it sounds it sounded great like no other BMW ever sounded like that but now I can I can focus on driving much more because when the Roush mufflers were there I love them to death but it almost made me feel like my car was breaking if it almost made me feel like it was distracting me from driving so I was so worried about my surroundings and in like scary another piano area if somebody flies past you with your old mufflers on then like calling in yeah for sure you are a reckless child I know what I mean but this one sounds like a nice guy just getting on his Mustang yeah yeah it feels like my car is almost a little slower but it's because it's so much more controlled and tamed that I look at the speedo go oh no it's not slower it's not it's just the fact that I'm not worried about everything else surrounding me like when you're in a loud car it's it's cool and especially it was when I was 16 I had my BMW yeah it's great you know like nobody cares like I don't get to have a care in the world but when you get a little older and you start having responsibilities like tickets and stuff like that and like well that ends this cold start today no one blinked no one like turn their head on anything and I kind of like that now because I used to get noise complaints all the time it didn't matter where I lived apartments whatever I genuinely felt that some people just go oh screw them it's your car exactly but for me personally like that's like it's kind of something out of the way cuz at the same time it is your car hey but I do understand now that I'm getting older like disturbing the peace it's like right like I like not everybody wants to hear your protons Mustang right and 10:00 p.m. coming or good caffeine and octane at 7:00 in the exact live in the morning exactly sounded perfect last night when I was sleeping or about to go to sleep I was split the whole time boy did
