The Joy of Decluttering: A Personal Story of Transformation
As I stood in my cluttered bathroom, surrounded by the chaos that had accumulated over time, I knew it was time to take drastic measures. The thought of tackling the task was daunting, but I was determined to see it through. With a newfound sense of determination, I began by gathering all of my cleaning products and relocating them to the kitchen sink. It was a small start, but it felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders as I gazed upon the newly decluttered space.
The transformation was nothing short of miraculous. As I surveyed the now-peaceful surroundings, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. The cabinets were clean, the countertops sparkled, and the drawers were organized with military precision. It was as if I had been given a second chance at a cleaner, more organized life. With my newfound momentum, I moved on to tackle the next area: my makeup drawer.
Once upon a time, this drawer was a haven of beauty and creativity. However, over time, it had become a dumping ground for expired products, broken accessories, and forgotten dreams. As I began to sort through the contents, I realized that I didn't need most of it. The makeup that I loved and used regularly went into a designated area, while the rest was discarded or donated. It was a painful process, but ultimately liberating.
I also found myself struggling with jewelry – specifically, a drawer filled with old, rusty pieces that I had accumulated over the years. As I dug through the treasure trove of tacky trinkets and useless baubles, I couldn't believe how much trash I had accumulated. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks: some things were truly disposable. With a heavy heart, I dispatched most of the jewelry to the trash, leaving only a few precious pieces that brought back fond memories.
As I continued on my decluttering journey, I encountered one final hurdle: my dresser drawer filled with craft supplies and miscellaneous trinkets. It was a hot mess, and I knew it would take some serious effort to tame its wildness. With a deep breath, I dove headfirst into the chaos, sorting through stickers, fabric scraps, and forgotten projects. The process was grueling, but ultimately rewarding. As I emerged from the dresser drawer, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over me.
As I looked around my newly decluttered bathroom, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the transformation that had taken place. It was as if I had been given a new lease on life – one filled with possibility and promise. The trash bag, once overflowing with discarded treasures, now sat empty and still, a testament to my newfound willingness to let go of the past.
In the end, it was clear that decluttering wasn't just about getting rid of stuff; it was about creating space for what truly mattered. As I stood in my newly ordered bathroom, surrounded by the calm and serenity that had been lacking before, I knew that this was only the beginning. The next area to tackle would be the craft room – a daunting task that would push me to confront even more emotional baggage. But for now, I basked in the glow of transformation, knowing that I had finally taken control of my space and, by extension, my life.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys today I am working on a new project in my house that requires decluttering it's time I'm feeling too much weight on my shoulders like just knowing that I probably have things I don't even remember that I have because I don't even use it look at it so it's time and I really need to do this room by room I just don't want to spend all day doing a declutter it makes me feel too overwhelmed and there are other things I want to do throughout my day so I'm just gonna take this one step at a time one room at a time and today I'm starting with my bathroom it's one of the first places that I really need to declutter my bedroom actually doesn't need any decluttering at all I pretty much have already gone through all of my clothes and gotten rid of everything that I know I'm not using so my bedroom is in really good standing but my bathroom not so much alright so we're in my bathroom a couple of things first I actually hate the wallpaper it's not farmhouse to me it's more Safari to me so because of that I'm not gonna spend any money to even remotely touch this because I'm not gonna be living here really past my daughter's senior graduation because I am gonna be moving so um with that said there's not gonna be like any like decor going on in here because I really want a farmhouse feel so I'm not gonna spend the money to try to make my bathroom into Safari because it's gonna be like a waste of money so this is not really a decorate like a decorating video so I actually have a to countertops I have one single countertop here and then I actually have a double over here and like a little vanity set not a double I have a single but it looks like a double so I have one sink here one sink here and actually this whole thing I've already cleaned yesterday but the cabinet's need to be decluttered and this whole section needs to really be decluttered immediately so what I'm going to be using some of these storage bins from Dollar Tree there are some of my favorite I actually use this exact set in my pantry makeover and I just thought that they're just so chic and they just don't look like a dollar to me so I'm gonna be using these to organize my sink that I use over here and let's go ahead and get started it's time to start getting rid of stuff if there are things I can donate I will otherwise if it's like half used products or things that are expired and fortunately I am gonna have to throw those things away as you can see it's just kind of a mess there are some cleaning products there's random products there's essential oils toothbrushes I'm gonna stop talking let's get started like I didn't even know that I had this this is what I'm talking about I forgot that I had this you're golden so this is actually my decor from my last house when my whole bedroom and bathroom was really an ocean-themed and now I'm not really doing that but I really loved like these pieces and it's just so hard for me to get rid of things that I love but I just don't think I'm gonna be using that stuff anymore so it's probably time to donate this stuff like a random penny like how does that even happen I don't even know so as you can see I've pulled out a lot of cleaning products and I'm just trying to figure out - I want them still in my bathroom or do I want them in my kitchen but really they should all kind of be together so I'm going to take out all of my cleaning products and they're gonna be moved to the kitchen sink all right so as you can see it just looks so much better I already feel so much better and the cabinets are the countertops are looking pretty clean and over here I've started three piles that's the donate pile this is just the move pile it's moving to the kitchen and this is the trash pile all right so this area was not that bad it's this area that's the problem all of these cabinets all of these drawers let's get started so this is my makeup drawer sorry for moving the camera but I've already pretty much organized this like I actually don't need this I probably just need to clean this out and vacuum like the hair that gets in here but maybe I will go through some of this makeup and kind of condense this down because I really don't use all of this either all right so this is a jewelry container that I've actually had for more than ten years and I haven't looked in this and over a year so essentially I should just be throwing these things out as you can see I already started a pile right there and I actually found this little container and one of the other cabinets and I've been sort of organizing the earrings and here so like for example I put those in there but really I'm just never gonna wear these I really love these too so I'm gonna give them one more shot and if I don't wear any of this stuff then I'm gonna go ahead and get rid of them so I'm going to continue to organize things that I have in here that I love these I used to wear these all the time in the summertime so like I said I'm gonna give these one more chance like I just I used to wear these actually all the time and now just not into it I'm gonna go ahead get rid of those I actually don't like Chevron so I'm get rid of those these as well these get rid of those now I'm gonna donate all of this I really love these actually are these not 80s or one these are so 80s you know what I'm gonna give them one more chance one more chance and then I'm gonna be done again and these I actually really love they are so so pretty on so I just need to keep them visible so that I know to wear them just useless all right so it's looking really good that's all of the stuff that I'm getting rid of this is all the stuff that I'm keeping and I love this so now hopefully I'll be able to spend more time looking at it and wearing some of this stuff if I don't end up wearing this stuff in the next six months I'm going to have to get rid of it so I'm going to have Alexa remind me in six months to donate the earrings that I haven't worn alright we're coming on my last drawer this is the joy that gives me the most anxiety and it's the drawer where essentially I keep the jewelry I reach for the most but it's a hot mess so let's go ahead and dive in I cannot believe how amazing this actually turned out like I had no plans for it to even look like this and it just really exceeded my initial expectation so I'm so excited I tried to color categorize the earrings as well and I put these closer to the outside just because I reach for the gold more than I do anything else and after all that decluttering this is basically what came out of that this is the trash pile that's the politics back to my kitchen and that's the donate pile I did that with the jewelry because it was so old and rusty I just don't think it's okay to donate so I'm gonna go ahead and just trash all of it because it's just so so old but I cannot believe look at all of this trash that was just in all of this it's just crazy I did not expect for the trash pile to honestly be that big everything literally fit in this big trash bag like that's crazy that all of that trash came out of just these cabinets that's crazy but my bathroom has officially been decluttered I'm so excited I'm so happy I feel already just a little bit better I think the room that's next is gonna be the craft room it's gonna be really hard to let go of some things including stickers but it has to be done it has to be done I'm gonna go ahead and take you guys through a final tour of every cabinet and every tour I hope that you guys enjoyed this video and that you feel inspired to do some decluttering I'm amazed at how much trash I had trashed not things that needed to be donated or things that like I just didn't use anymore that someone else could find treasure in but actual trashhi guys today I am working on a new project in my house that requires decluttering it's time I'm feeling too much weight on my shoulders like just
