I Built My Cats a PC!

Building a PC for My Feline Friends: A Journey of Innovation and Love

As I sat at my desk, staring at the empty space where my new PC would soon reside, I couldn't help but think about my furry friends who would be using it. I had always wanted to build a PC that would not only serve its purpose but also bring joy to those around it - in this case, my two beloved cats. I decided to call it "mittens" because it's warm and cozy, just like the feeling of snuggling up with my feline companions.

I started by selecting the perfect components for the build. I chose a high-performance PC that would not only provide excellent performance but also look sleek and modern. The RAM sticks were crucial in this build, and I made sure to configure all four slots to ensure optimal performance. However, one of the RAM sticks wasn't working properly, so I decided to remove it and leave three out of the four slots open. My cats are very particular about their surroundings, and I wanted to make sure everything was perfect before introducing them to their new PC.

To add a touch of elegance to the system, I opted for a custom case with RGB lighting. The LEDs were designed to match my cat's playful personality, and they added an extra layer of fun to the build. As I installed the components, I couldn't help but think about how my cats would react to their new PC.

Once the build was complete, it was time to introduce "mittens" to its new home. I carefully placed the PC in a cozy spot where my cats could easily access it, and then I waited for them to discover it on their own terms. To make sure they felt comfortable using the system, I provided them with a soft blanket that would cover the PC. The idea was to create a warm and inviting space that would encourage my cats to use the system.

The moment of truth arrived when I turned on the PC for the first time. My cats were immediately drawn to the colorful lights and the gentle hum of the fans. They seemed intrigued by the new object in their midst, and I watched as they cautiously approached it. The blanket that covered the PC was actually a bit smaller than I had anticipated, but it worked well enough to keep everything tidy.

As the system came online, I noticed that the cats were becoming more comfortable with their surroundings. They began to sniff around the PC, rubbing against it gently and purring softly. It was clear that they had already formed a connection with their new system. The blanket seemed to be working as intended, providing them with a cozy spot to rest and play.

The next step was to test the PC's performance while my cats were using it. I was amazed at how well they took to the system, playing with the keyboard and mouse with ease. They even seemed to enjoy watching me work on the PC, sometimes getting up close to investigate what I was doing. The built-in blanket had become a makeshift scratching post for them, and they loved rubbing their chin against it.

As I watched my cats explore their new system, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Building "mittens" had not only provided me with a high-performance PC but also brought joy to those around it - in this case, my beloved feline friends. The experience had taught me that sometimes the most unexpected challenges can lead to innovative solutions, and I couldn't wait to see what other exciting projects lay ahead.

In conclusion, building a PC for my cats was an incredible journey that taught me about the importance of patience, creativity, and innovation. From selecting the perfect components to designing a cozy blanket, every detail mattered in creating a system that would bring joy to those around it. As I sat back and watched my cats play with their new PC, I knew that all the hard work had been worth it - after all, there's no greater reward than seeing your pets happy and content.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enit's winter right now and it's gotten a little bit colder here in Southern California where I live obviously not as cold as many other places in the world but my house gets around 65 degrees Fahrenheit at night to around 18c which is perfectly fine for me I actually prefer it that way but my cats like it a lot warmer cats in general prefer warmer temperatures and I can just tell that they're really cold at night because they're always smuggling up with each other for warmth or cuddling up next to a blanket or a pillow on the couch now I do have this random pet dryer that I received for a product Roundup video a few months back and I usually just keep it on a low fan setting so it serves as kind of a heated cat bed the problem there is that it only fits one cat my cats are fat and the dryer is small so while one of them gets to take refuge in that box every night the other one's just left out in the cold which is why today I'm going to build my cats a computer that's going to act as a second heated cat bed now I do have Central Heating in the house which I could run every night but then I won't be able to sleep because I just can't sleep when it's that warm and also that'll rack up the energy bill quite a bit more than the PC would obviously there's a number of ways that I can keep a constant load on the PC throughout the night so that it stays warm for the cats I could mine crypto I could run a synthetic Benchmark but I'm going to choose to fold it home in case you haven't heard folding at home is basically a Computing project that allows volunteers to use the processing power of their home PCS to run complex simulations of protein folding patterns in order to help scientists find treatments and cures for a variety of diseases if you guys remember folding at home received a lot of deserved attention from The Tech Community during the peak of the covid-19 pandemic and even though things have calmed down a lot since then there's still always a need for new breakthroughs in medicine the nice thing about folding at home is that it can leverage both the CPU and the GPU putting a hefty load on the system and creating a lot of heat for the kitties I could go the route of crypto mining instead but folding just seems like a more worthwhile cause plus it's never caused any detrimental damage to the PC Community by making gpus insanely scarce and expensive I know I know this idea is ridiculous but at the end of the day I have to serve my feline overlords if I want to stay alive before we continue this video is brought to you by the phantax eclipse g500a drgb built to handle next-gen CPU and GPU performance fan Texas ultra fine performance mesh design combines High airflow with excellent dust filtration for optimal Cooling and easy cleaning add up to a 420 radiator at the front or 360 up top while having ample clearance for even the largest next-gen graphics cards enjoy effortless Cable Management flexible storage options and integrated digital RGB lighting that can be easily connected to supported motherboards and easily expanded with additional drgb products to learn more about the phantax eclipse g500a drgb click on the link in the description now I chose the case for this PC carefully because this is the only part of the system that the cats are going to physically interact with by laying on the top this is the Leon Li 011d I think this is a good choice for a number of reasons for one the top panel is wide it's a bit wider and larger than most traditional mid Towers even though it's probably not big enough to fit both cats that's okay the other one could just crawl into the the pet dryer that I mentioned earlier while the other one sits up top here and it also has three fans at the top so I wanted to really maximize the amount of airflow that's coming to the cats and finally the case just looks nice this is going to be in my living room or my dining room somewhere I haven't figured out exactly where I'm going to put it yet but it's going to be visible if people come over and walk through the house they're going to see it so I want it to look semi nice I'm also going to plan to put like a little blanket like a thin blanket on top here because cats like soft soft surfaces to lay on and if I use a thin enough blanket then the cat should definitely still be able to feel the heat coming through the hardware requirements for folding at home are pretty minimal you can go all the way down to like a Pentium chip I think but we're gonna actually scale up to a ryzen 9 5950x 16 core 32 thread CPU the reason being is that this is going to generate more heat than a low end chip well and that's obviously the point of this so I've got two or three of these just on hand kind of Parts lying around this is sort of a recycled Parts build as is this motherboard from gigabyte which is the x570s Aero G looks pretty nice all in white and silver matches the case perfectly and then we also have an RTX 3080 from Asus this is just an Rog strix gaming OC Edition uh yes the cats probably have a better system than most people out there I'm aware of that and I'm sorry we have 32 gigs of Corsair Vengeance Pro Vengeance RGB pro ddr4 at 3200 speed I believe a 500 gig Samsung 970 Evo plus nvme m.2 this is only PCA gen 3. I'm sure the kitties will be very mad at me about that the cooler is the Corsair h150i Elite LCD top of the line AIO 360 millimeter radiator with those three included fans and the pump block also has an LCD screen that I'm actually going to swap out for a custom GIF of the cats because you know cats they like to mark their territory finally we have a revoltx power supply from fantech that's 1200 watts this is way overkill for the cats but this is actually the most reasonable power supply that I have on hand right now so so that'll have to do those are the parts I'll put links to all the stuff in the description below in case you're interested but let's get building the kitty PC is complete yeah looking pretty good looking pretty good so right now we have folding at home going right now so both CPU and GPU are being taxed I would be going for about a couple hours now I do have this little thermometer in here that I just stuck in there temporarily so we can see what kind of temps we're getting internally right now we're at 84c which is something in Celsius which is pretty warm it's actually getting nice and toasty at the top here I think the cat's gonna like it I kind of want to lay on here later on when the cats aren't watching when they're not around do a little PC sprawling in my alone time but then we also have uh the GIF the GIF a custom gift of the cats again like I said cats like marking their territory this is so that they can just see okay this PC is clearly ours and we no longer feel the need to urinate on it which is always a plus and then another thing I did to this PC in addition that you guys didn't see earlier is I added some Corsair L Series fans these are ll120s got the nice RGB I wanted to bling it out a little bit you know my cats my cats are pretty vain so I just need need to make sure that the system was up to their standards and then I also added a little LCD screen at the back here that was just an afterthought I was like oh you know what I've had this little Raspberry Pi LCD for a while now so I just stuck that on the back there and it's got the protein viewer the folding at home protein viewer right now so you can actually see all the the good work that we're doing that simulation just running in the background and it's also nice because once I have this PC set up at home I'm not really going to have another LCD or another monitor connected to it so if I ever do need to get in there and change some settings or whatever check temps more thoroughly I got a little LCD that that'll get me by now it's not very often when I name my PCS because I think it's kind of silly unless it's like a really big crazy build but this is a pretty ridiculous concept to begin with so I figured naming it was appropriate and this is mittens I'm calling this PC mittens because it's warm it's going to keep my animals my fellow pet mates warm and you know mittens for kittens has a nice ring to it oh you might also notice that I took out two of the RAM sticks because one of them wasn't working in IQ for some reason it wasn't getting the memo you know so that the LEDs weren't working all properly I was only able to configure three out of the four and so it was just it was throwing off the vibe like I said my cats are very superficial and they would lose their minds if they saw even just one stick out of order so I just decided to go with two of them so we can get all matchy latchy and everything looks good why don't we go ahead and bring this guy home see what the kitties think all right kid is you want to see a new system come here boy you want to see your new pc you want to see it all turned on you gotta wait for the fans to turn on wait wait hold on you got to see the fans turned on hold on you are going to you're going to flip when you see it look at that look at that amazing right I know it's so beautiful you can't even look at it directly it's like it's like the burning bush of Christ you want to test it out you want to does it I know you want to does it out but first I did get them a little blanket a little little pet blanket that I got on Amazon oh wait hold on he he's curious oh he's already going up he's already going up it's the lighting he's attracted to the RGB he's already rubbing his chin on it it's a good sign that's that's a that's a side bonus of the piece they can scratch their chin on it they love doing that oh no okay we'll have to wait till the system warms up but yeah like I was saying this blanket is seemingly a lot smaller than I thought it'd be I guess I don't need to be that big it just needs to sort of cover cover the PC all right that's actually it's actually not too bad let's see how this looks and it's also really thin which is perfect because you want we want the air to permeate the blanket a bit I just hope that it doesn't fall off otherwise I have to find some way to tape it down restrain it somehow wow that actually makes it look like a little house a little a little roof it looks like a little Hut in Bali I just turned this PC into a luxury Airbnb this is sick all right girl the PC is ready I'm gonna test it out it'll be the first all right I just put the girl on top first impressions oh oh immediately immediately lays down usually she's a bit more skeptical even with things that I know she likes she's already made herself at home look at you girl look at you as you warm is it does d oh you're a happy kitty huh you've been freezing your little ass off in here haven't you instant favorite spot in the house look at that look at that and it only cost me a three thousand dollar PC wait oh the gift the gift's not up oh I gotta open up IQ all right hold on there we go kitty GIF is back online beautiful I don't know if she's getting off oh to get food of course of course the fatty wants food next I gotta build him a PC with a built-in treadmill all right the system's good to go now but you may have noticed that the blanket is actually getting a little puffy right now because all the airflow we got folding at home running full blast the fans have actually ramped up quite a bit since putting this blanket on here because obviously it's choking the airflow a little bit and so the temperatures are going up and the fans are ramping up so it's a little bit louder than it was back at the office and now we've got this situation here where the Blanket's a little bit it's a little it's kind of slippery and I really did get too small of a size I need to get a new one maybe one that's long enough to tuck the edges underneath the case feet so it doesn't actually fall off when the cat's mess with it but for now I'm just going to sit back and let the cats discover this thing let them familiarize themselves with it without my interference just so they can get used to it and stuff and start using it more regularly as you can see the cats have gotten more than comfortable with the system so far so I guess it's safe to say that the system is officially cat approved thanks for watching this one guys make sure to toss a like on the video If you enjoyed it get subscribed for more Tech content on the way and I'll see y'all in the next
