Tour of a Geek's iPhone - Fall 2012

**A Tour of My iPhone: Exploring the Various Folders and Apps**

As I sit here with my iPhone, I'm excited to take you on a tour of its various folders and apps. We'll start by looking at the top row of icons, where we have several essential apps that I use daily.

Under the "Top Row" folder, we find My Phone, Calendar, Photos, and Camera. These are all must-have apps for anyone who uses their iPhone as a primary device. The Calendar app is always fully stocked with upcoming events and appointments, while my Photos folder is filled with memories from travels and everyday life. The Camera app allows me to capture moments whenever I want, whether it's a quick snapshot or a more in-depth photo shoot.

Moving on to the next folder, we have Music Remote, YouTube, and App Store. These apps are all used frequently, whether it's listening to music, watching videos, or browsing for new apps to download. The App Store is a treasure trove of entertainment options, with everything from games to social media apps available at our fingertips. I also use YouTube regularly, often watching videos on topics ranging from technology to science.

Under the "Music Remote" folder, we find Facebook and Instagram. While I don't use these apps as frequently as some others, they're still essential for staying connected with friends and family. The App Store is filled with an endless array of options, but I'm happy to report that many popular apps are already present on my iPhone.

The "Facebook" folder also includes Square, which I recently designed for a client. This app allowed me to showcase their business in a creative way, highlighting the unique features and benefits of their services. The "Instagram" app is another favorite of mine, as it provides a fun way to share photos and connect with others.

Moving on to the next folder, we have Alarm.com, Pandora, and Apple apps. The Alarm.com app allows me to arm my house remotely, providing an added layer of security whenever I'm away from home. I also use Pandora regularly, often listening to music while working or relaxing. The "Apple" folder includes a range of essential apps, such as Clock, Maps, Notes, and Find My iPhone.

One of the most impressive features of these Apple apps is their seamless integration with other services. For example, I can easily find my location using Maps, take notes on important reminders, or locate my phone if it's ever misplaced. The "Find My iPhone" app is particularly handy, allowing me to track down my device whenever it's lost or stolen.

The next folder we'll explore contains more Apple apps, including Videos, Reminders, Find My Friends, Cards, Pages, iMovie, iTunes, Airport Utility, Podcasts, and Passbook. While I don't use all of these apps as frequently as others, they're still important for staying organized and connected.

Under the "Videos" folder, we find YouTube and Vimeo. These video streaming services provide endless hours of entertainment, from music videos to educational content. The "Reminders" app is another favorite of mine, allowing me to set reminders and stay on top of tasks and appointments.

The "Find My Friends" app is also a useful tool, especially when I'm meeting up with friends or family members. It allows us to find each other's locations in real-time, making it easy to navigate unfamiliar areas. The "Cards" app, while not something I use frequently, provides a fun way to send personalized messages and gifts.

Moving on to the next folder, we have Social & Web, which includes Squarespace, GoDaddy, Target, McNichols, Xbox Live, Chrome, Twitter, Xfinity Connect, and Creative Cloud. The "Social & Web" folder is filled with all sorts of useful apps for staying connected with others online.

One notable app in this folder is Squarespace, a website builder that I recently designed for a client. This app allowed me to create a beautiful and functional website that showcased their business in the best possible light. The "GoDaddy" app is another favorite of mine, providing access to a range of web hosting services and tools.

The next folder we'll explore is Entertainment, which includes Flickster, Netflix, Redbox, SoundHound, PayPal, eBay, Max Payne, Breaker, and Tiny Wings. While I don't use all of these apps as frequently as others, they're still essential for entertainment and leisure activities.

Under the "Entertainment" folder, we find Flickster, a movie streaming service that provides access to a vast library of films and TV shows. The "Netflix" app is another favorite of mine, offering endless hours of original content and new releases. I also use Redbox regularly, often renting movies and TV shows for the evening.

The "SoundHound" app is another useful tool for music lovers, allowing us to identify songs and artists with ease. While I don't use SoundHound as much as some others, it's still a valuable addition to my entertainment toolkit.

Moving on to the next folder, we have Music & Video, which includes Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Spotify. These apps provide access to a range of music streaming services, allowing us to listen to our favorite tunes whenever we want.

Under the "Music & Video" folder, we find Apple Music, a subscription-based service that provides access to millions of songs and playlists. The "YouTube Music" app is another favorite of mine, offering endless hours of music videos and live performances.

The final folder we'll explore is Utilities, which includes Find My iPhone, iCloud Drive, iBooks, Safari, and Notes. While I don't use all of these apps as frequently as others, they're still essential for staying organized and connected.

Under the "Utilities" folder, we find Find My iPhone, a feature that allows us to locate our device whenever it's lost or stolen. The "iCloud Drive" app is another useful tool, providing access to a range of cloud storage services. I also use iBooks regularly, often reading e-books and articles on topics ranging from science to fiction.

The next folder we'll explore is Productivity, which includes Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Safari, and Notes. These apps are all used frequently, whether it's creating documents, spreadsheets, or presentations, or browsing the web for information.

Under the "Productivity" folder, we find Pages, a word processing app that allows us to create beautiful and professional-looking documents. The "Numbers" app is another favorite of mine, providing access to spreadsheet software for managing data and tracking finances.

The final folder we'll explore is Camera, which includes the default camera app and several third-party alternatives. While I don't use all of these apps as frequently as others, they're still essential for capturing photos and videos on my iPhone.

And that concludes our tour of my iPhone! From social media to music streaming, productivity tools to entertainment apps, there's always something new to explore and discover.
