Katy Perry 'California Girls' - Makeup Tutorial

**Inspired by Katie Perry: A California Girls Look**

The inspiration behind this look comes from none other than pop sensation, Katie Perry. This article will walk you through the step-by-step process of creating a California-inspired look that's perfect for anyone who loves a bold and playful aesthetic.

**Prep Work: Color It Up!**

To start off, we're going to talk about color. The eyes are where it all begins, and today, we'll be working with Mac Pro Longwear Eye Shadow in Rose. This eyeshadow is amazing, not just because of its beautiful shade, but also because it's a pro color that can be used on its own or blended with other shades to create the perfect look. We'll be using Rose as our base color and will add more depth and dimension to our eyes later.

**Lower Lids: A Gold Rush**

Now, let's move on to the lower lid where we'll be creating a warm and sun-kissed effect. To do this, we'll use Mac's Swiss Chocolate eyeshadow as our base color. Take a small brush and gently apply this shade all over your lower lid. Then, use a gold pencil by Jean Francois to add warmth and dimension. Next, take a darker brown shade and create a line along the outer corner of your eye. Use a light touch and make sure to blend well, especially around the brow bone.

**Glitter, Glitter, Everywhere!**

It's time for the fun part – adding glitter to our look! We'll be using three different glitters today: two by Claire's and one by Glamour Doll Eyes. Start by applying a thin layer of brow gel to your lid and then take the first glitter, which is also from Claire's, and gently tap it onto your skin with some toilet paper. Make sure to cover all areas evenly, but avoid getting glitter on your skin as much as possible.

**Wingin' It: A Second Wing**

To add more drama to our look, we'll be creating a second wing using Mac's carbon eyeshadow and an angled brush from Stargazer. Take a small amount of carbon and apply it along the inner corner of your eye, then create a second line at the outer corner of your eye. This will give your eyes a more defined shape and add depth to our look.

**Finishing Touches: Mascara and Fake Lashes**

Now that we have our wings in place, let's talk about mascara and fake lashes. We'll be using Stila's Topz mascara and the L'Oreal Volume Ultra Volume lash mascara to give our eyes a dramatic boost. For extra volume and drama, we'll add some black widow Manic Panic fake eyelashes on top of our natural lashes.

**Lip Color: A Pop of Fuchsia**

For our lip color, we'll be using Lime Crime's Sentry fuchsia lipstick on the top lips and Lip erase by Mac on the lower lip. This will give us a beautiful pop of color that adds to our overall California-inspired look.

**The Final Touches: Wig Time!**

Finally, it's time for our final touch – the wig! We've chosen a lilac-colored wig from eBay for under $20 (plus shipping) and are excited to see how it looks on. Apply the wig according to the instructions provided with the headpiece and voila! Our California-inspired look is complete.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys so today I'm going to do a look inspired slash most recreated by um Katie Perry's California girls so if you want to know how I did this like really crazy look right keep on watching first colors that are going onto our lid are two sugar pill colors this is dollypop and this is poison Plum yeah and we're going to mix these two Shadows together to get the color that we want so dip your brush into the poison Plum then into the dolly pink and then into the poison Plum again and apply this to your lid now just take that color that you created and just go a little bit into the crease now I'm going to grab this 226 by Sigma and go into poison plum only and this is going into the crease I'm going to grab my vanilla ey shadow by Mac and with a 23 by um Sigma I'm going to apply this to the inner corners of my eye as well as my brow bone now I'm going to take pink freeze by Mac this is actually my first Mac color I ever got and I'm going to put this onto the inner Corners as well over that vanilla and as well as the brow bone now I'm going to go back into the 226 and I'm going to go into poison Plum and I'm going to go into this Mac color it is a pro color though and this is um Rose eyes Shadow this ey Shadow is amazing I use it as blush I use it as ey Shadow I love it so I'm going to get that color and apply this right here and with that Rose ey shadow it's going to give a really nice Sheen shiny pinky effect you ever go to Mech Pro make sure you get Rose eyes Shadow and then you can always go back into the poison Plum and the dolly pink and make it more one piece now for the lower lid believe it or not she actually wore a gold and Jean franois CD show that to me that was so cheesy so I'm going to start off with this warm color on my lower lid this is Swiss chocolate and just line your entire lower lash line then wipe that brush off and go into Mac's gold mine and apply this under that brown color then just take a little bit of carbon which is a matte black color and just tight line your lower lash line to make it a little bit more defined so once you have all of that on it's time for the fun part which is the glitter as my adhesive today I'm going to use brow gel um just because I like it um it works for me better than lash glue or stuff like that so I'm going to use brow gel so the first glitter we're going to use is this color by Claire's believe it or not it has a blue glitter in it as well which is really cool the second glitter we're going to use is by Claire's as well um this is like a greenish opal color and then the third glitter is by glamour doll eyes and this is called um this is called Rave so with this brush I'm just going to go into the brow gel and apply a layer onto my lid and then I'm going to go into the first um glitter which is that pink from Claire's and I'm going to use some toilet paper to cover my face and then just tap this on completely like that then wipe the brush off go into the brow gel again and then take ra glitter go into the glitter take your toilet paper and put this onto the outer corners and blend it in then wipe the brush up again go into the brow gel cover up your face and take that light greeny opal pigment from Claire's and apply this in the middle of your lid and to the inner Corners so just a little bit here like that and a little bit right here of course Katie Perry wears her um signature winged eyeliner so I'm going to grab a um angled brush go into carbon the black color by Mac and just make a shadow of how you want the line to go then go on top with some liquid liner and then we will do a whole lot of other stuff what Katie Perry didn't wear in her video but what I really liked was this second Wing I made from the lower lash line so I'm just going to grab this angled brush again from Stargazer go into carbon from Mac and just make a second line just because I love it and it gives a little bit more EXT to the look so now I'm going to apply two eyeliners to my waterline I'm going to use my Stila topz Stila and this Mac chromagraphic pencil in Pure White you can only see my nostrils on my mouth and apply some mascara I'm going to use the L'Oreal volume willium lashes and some black widow Manic Panic fake eyelashes going to start off with my lip erase by Mac of course that's so hot then I'm going to take this lipstick by Mac called Rebel and because that is a little bit too dark for the look I'm just going to grab this Lime Crime lipstick in Sentry fuchsia and I'm going to apply that to my top flip and I'm actually going to take that Cent refua and apply that all over another time so that completes this look and now it's time for the wig okay okay here we go okay just release the hair let the hair flow girls let it flow just let it go with the flow just release the poppy pins that keep the energy from flowing around your hair oh yes oh yes oh yes get the head cap if that is what it's called properly pull it from the back to the front and then it's time to get your pink your yellow your lilac your I don't know what color wig I chose lilac and just apply this I got this wig from eBay for like $15 um plus a whole of um shipping so I hope you guys like it this was my Katie Perry um California Girls inspired look um I definitely like it better with like lilac lips but um we got to stay true to the look so thank you
