Driving the New Topaz 600 Miles Baby
I'm sitting here with the new Topaz, and I've gotta say, it's got miles on it already. It's been with me for just a short period, but I can already tell that this car is going to be a handful. The owner warned me about using it too much in normal town speeds, and boy, was he right. As soon as I started driving it, I felt like I needed to slow down and take it easy on the engine. It's got a lot of power, but it's also got a lot of sensitivity, so you have to be careful not to push it too hard.
I've only driven the thing for about 70 miles or so at this point, but already I can tell that it's going to require some extra TLC. The owner has told me that there are certain things I need to watch out for when driving it, like not using too many revs and making sure I'm following the best service schedule to keep it running smoothly. And let me tell you, this thing feels like a wild animal in its current state - shaking all over the place even on normal roads.
I've also been experimenting with different driving styles to see how it responds. One of my favorite things about this car is that it's so much fun to drive, but at the same time, it's also got a lot of character and quirks. I'm not 100% sure of all the rules for this car yet, but I'm eager to learn more and figure out how to get the most out of it.
One thing that's been a bit of an issue is the bodywork - with so much open space on top of the car, it's like magnets for dirty water or debris. And when I drove it in the rain earlier today, it was like a little battle to keep the road spray off the tires and bodywork. But hey, that's just part of owning an exotic sports car, right?
I've also been thinking about how this car is going to fit into my collection. I'm currently working on two other cars - the GT8 and the 675 LT - which are both in storage at the moment. The GT8 has had a bit of a rattle issue with its dashboard, but that's been sorted out now, and it's off to be returned to Ford. The 675 LT is still waiting for me, though - I'm hoping to get it back soon.
I've also got some plans to make to this car in the near future. Let's just say that there's going to be a bit of a modification made to it, and I'll be sharing that with you all later on. And as always, I'm excited to share my adventures with my cars with you - so stay tuned!
Just as I was finishing up this article, I realized that the rain had started pouring again outside. Luckily, my AMG GT is parked safely in the garage, and I don't need to worry about getting it dirty just yet. But I am excited to get back out on the road with both cars soon - there are a lot of adventures planned for this year, and I'm eager to share them all with you.
The End
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm shmee hello and welcome back to the channel where today i am buzzing because it basically feels like a new car collection day i'm back at topaz detailing to pick up my mclaren senna the team have now completed the installation of the paint protection film and as always we are surrounded by some amazing cars but mine has been brought here to the new unit which we had an update on when i came in to see the progress and caught up with mobile but my car is just inside we can go in and take a look and see the finished product ready and raring to go i can't wait to take this car now out on the roads so let's get inside and check it out yep this lineup is not bad gt3 rs a line of 812 super fast we've got a dawn an sls especially and the center is behind those shutters so let's head straight inside because well i'm expecting this to look really pretty incredible and i can't wait to actually get the car out on the roads and go for a drive in it now without worrying about stone chips so let's do this all right hey nabil tim how are you good how are you doing very good very good you're right i'm excited there's some new stuff in there that i need to show you yeah so it's been a few days i know but it's the most important part that's been put in there okay for me anyway yeah let's have a look let's do this let's see how things have changed so i still saw obviously a building site at the moment and you know it's uh your car is the first car to come in here really but wow okay lighting lighting tiles are in now so the files are in but more importantly the bit i'm really excited about is the flooring if you ever look at the flooring there's actual led lights that have been purposely put in yeah to help the installers install the film and i'm just going to say that i'm looking at the car yeah and you can see you're like my eyes just like drawn to it can we go and take a look yeah and yeah i mean check this out guys check it out under this lighting with this strip lighting around the base wow it looks good doesn't it it looks so so so good so it had the full detailing then the installation of paint protection film that we saw in the update exactly and uh some things have been done to it since then yeah so we did a tidy up so obviously the interior has been done and then after that's been done we then do uh exterior uh ceramic coating okay so the g-technic ceramic coating which is like i showed you guys on my ford focus rs heritage edition um can be installed either on paintwork or on the top of protection film yeah which has helped it helps a lot of paint protection film a lot of people don't know that actually can go and be a protection film but it can uh paint protection form is porous essentially so you have pores within the film yeah and it's very important to make sure that you put either wax or ideally ceramic coating on top just to make sure that the film is nicely kept clean yeah and basically makes it easier to keep the car clean going forward as well so this is the ultimate in protection and now presented here inside your this is going to be so cool and this is just the downstairs we had a good look at the upstairs in the last update put all of it together so this is absolutely phenomenal but i've got a stress this is the first car that's been in here first completed car ready to put a car in here otherwise it'll drive me mad but you know uh it's it's uh i had to see what it looks like underneath the shore and i will quickly add that they did ask if we could bring the car in here because of course it is still kind of work in progress but for handover yeah the color the car under these lights mso cerulean blue the navy carbon i can't say cerulean blue enough on these videos it's a lot of a lot of fun but this is looking fantastic all the film has been put on as we discussed on on everything yeah last bit when you were here i think we did the nose bridge yeah that was the last bit of film that had to go on uh that's now obviously been put on so every painted area of this car's got paint protection film and every bit of carbon has got paint protection from as well exactly as it should be and it's sitting down in race mode which just looks even cooler yeah the way the suspension drops it works it works with your lighting that's one thing i did on purpose is because i wanted it to be all one level going all the way through okay because this is because of cars like this this is going to be the new wash bay that is the washbank rollers and shutters are all yeah there's gonna be an electric ruler that goes up and down here so it's completely flat mode so a car like this in race mode or if you have some ridiculous race car or something that's having which we get you do really low cars really really low cars and you have to think to myself how am i going to be able to put them in the unit now i can definitely well it's going to look absolutely fantastic this thing is awesome i was saying at the beginning to me this feels like it's picking up a new car because you know at this point i've only driven the car at like 30 miles an hour being overtaken by trucks yeah and now and now it's actually done it's been protected it's been enhanced detected exactly in the future we'll have the maintenance yeah but for now you can get in drive see what it's like i can't wait honestly take out race mode and get on speed bumps definitely yeah you can get in it and just go that's the nice thing about it alrighty so we were also just quickly about the interior the interior has been completely done as well what kind of things are done on the inside so obviously what we do is we with with all the fabrics we obviously put a coating on them just to make sure that there's nothing that if you have any wet shoes or anything else like the other side doesn't damage any of the carpets obviously there aren't there aren't many fabrics inside there isn't many fabrics inside here um and but then with obviously with the paint protection film side of things we obviously put all on all the carbon here and we showed it right how it was around the seat as well all the seat there on the other side as well but it just gives you a nice bit of protection on there but it's it's ready to rock and roll yeah it's literally perfect brand new all right then i think that means it's going to be time to fire it up take it outside and for me to get to take it out for a drive enjoy it it is time then to take the car out so let's hear it starting up and coming into life oh yeah four liter so in turbo v8 car is still in race mode at the moment to be taken out but it looks oh so good when it's down on the ground like this in race mode and one other thing that i would like to show you guys that i positioned right here from your car post to look at that with the reflection of the center as it cruises past your color poster created this for me of my car the link down below to find these in the shmu150 shop you'll find in the description and you can head over and make one for your very own car having it framed up like this or just the print should you prefer but my car is now out i better go and track it down and jump in and take it on out all right then here we are back inside the center now up to this point i drove the car up and down the road from mclaren manchester i drove the car during the auto sports show out in the arena and then i drove it from my garage here to topaz but i've not really driven it over about 30 or 40 miles per hour through fear of it getting stone chips due to how much arrow it's got today though we have a protection film and it's basically good to go so we're out of race mode the window switch is there let's just close the window i'm going to need the lift system to get over the speed bump so let's pop that up let's go into gear and uh yeah away we go in like i said what feels at the moment like a brand new car and a few people teased me when i was driving in here to topaz i was being overtaken by trucks and uh i think you can't blame me when you think the risks of getting a stone chip and that was basically why i really want to be driving it on the road but now we can take it out and we can enjoy it as the car was built to be done and um yeah it's kind of noisy in here isn't it there's a lot of rawness to it but i am a little bit giddy a little bit excited a little bit can't wait to get some of the running mileage done so that i can properly push it and drive this car yeah i'm just buzzing absolutely buzzing i tell you what driving this car on normal roads and normal 20 mile per hour speed limited london it feels a little bit alien this doesn't feel like exactly the right place to be driving a mclaren center and to be honest i don't think i'm going to be driving it all that much around the city now i don't have active dynamics enabled at the moment so this isn't actually the softest setting since the i think 720s really they've had it so that sport is the default mode and you have to enable the setting and put it back into comfort if you'd like to make it even softer but like this it's actually surprisingly okay unless you hit a really really bumpy road the only problem is that i wish i could put my foot down a little bit harder than literally crawling along at 20 miles per hour but hey that's the city for you it's the least exciting place in the world to be driving a car like this anywho what i have noticed is that everybody else cars drivers pedestrians looks at this thing it is not very discreet you're not going to be hiding driving a center around the center of the city but i've got a couple of errands to run today and i figured why not just drive the car get a little bit more familiar with it get used to it and we've got a small bump here but i can put the lift system up anyway just better to be safe than to be sorry no i think that would have been fine i don't actually know how low that front splitter is obviously i don't have experience or familiarity with it at this stage um i've never yet hit it on anything fortunately oh we're back into 30 miles per hour wonderful let's put the system back down i don't think we're gonna need it anywhere up here obviously the gearbox is in automatic seven speed uh dual clutch uh gearbox that's standard in the car if you have active on you can set it to manual or you can just use the paddles but then it will revert back to normal um i feel like this is still completely new to me yes i've said i drove my car a couple of times at auto sport and mclaren manchester and i drove uh one of mclaren's own cars and esther rail out on track but i don't really know very much about it yet we've got 67 miles from the clock that's it 67 miles it is literally a new car i mean if i stuck with somebody to show up i have no plans to sell this car at all whatsoever by the way but were it to be in a dealer showroom up for sale this would be sold as delivery miles this would be sold as a brand brand new spanking car um so there's a fair bit to get familiar with but like i said i've got a couple of errands that i'm off to run today just usual stuff being back in the uk um and having some time and i figured why not drive the center why not get a little bit more used to it while i make my way around town and then uh later on i'm gonna take it back towards the garage and i know this sounds really strange but i don't even really remember which cars are in the garage at the moment which car's aware because i've had so much going on with my travels with cars going off for different bits of servicing and things that i kind of need to just go and see and get my head back on the ground and work it all out and uh yeah we'll go from there all of the noises that you hear it's actually really quite worrying you're just thinking about every stone flicking up thank goodness for ppf and thank goodness for doubled up ppf in the vulnerable areas of the car as well um when you're driving along it's not quiet i feel like i'm speaking pretty loudly to talk to you guys i'm not necessarily sure that this would be a fantastic road trip car in fact i don't know which out of the gt or cena would actually be a better road trip car because the gt has no luggage space and this has well a helmet-sized luggage space behind you in any case it's going to be a tedious run-in process just going to get some miles on it get it all warmed but at least today it is no longer wet just drying up roads it was pretty grim this morning so i'm much much happier to be taking the car out in the afternoon and then into the evening than i would have been but i've got one stop to go and then uh i'll come back to you guys when i'm heading on again i'm actually only starting now to realize and appreciate what exactly this car is and the fact that it's really here um if i just press active and then go manual it's so raw and visceral and evolving this is just third gear fourth gear at normal town speeds and um i can only imagine what this thing is going to be like when the the running is done but it's got the miles on it let me just slow down drop some gears second gear it's just a small taster for the moment because you have to think about certain things when you're running it not using too many revs to be honest i'm not 100 sure of all of the rules for this car um i know it's 600 miles of babying it we could say and then you can start increasing you can't immediately in theory go full on for the preservation and warranty and ensuring you follow the best service schedule and making sure obviously at the end of the day that it has as much longevity as possible it feels very very very mad just alongside normal cars in normal traffic yeah i feel very very lucky right now to be able to drive this car just that i'm starting torturing it a bit by using it in these conditions and driving it around town i need to take this out of the city and drive it properly because in the city it shakes you it shakes through to the bone i've made a stop off at storage before i'm next going to head home to get the amg gtr and bring that here but i tell you what is almost in a way a little bit painful is that earlier on at topaz the cena was perfectly presented immaculate condition and then i took it straight out to drive it on damp and wet roads and i tell you what the result of that is if you have a car with a lot of open body work crazy arrow and sticky tires if i just come in a little bit closer and turn on the light on my camera um have a look here behind the front wheel arches uh yeah i've only driven the thing a couple of miles it basically throws up all of the dirty rain water up off the tires over all the bodywork and it's going to be very hard to actually keep this car clean when you drive it in fact all of the aero parts just seem like magnets for dirty water or whatever's out out on the roads but that could be cleaned not too much to worry about also here at the moment we have these two under their covers sitting on their tire cushions plugged into trickle chargers the gt8 and the 675 lt because i didn't really know when i was next going to drive them so they're kind of packed up for long term storage at the moment the ford gt would normally be here but that is actually back with ford at the moment you might remember it had a little rattle coming out of the dashboard area they knew what that was it's the rocker assembly so that's being sorted out it's in fact it's been sorted out and the car will be sent back to me very very shortly and there is also something that i'm about to change on that car a small little modification so i'm going to be sharing that with you in the not too distant future at all the red rs is of course away at mountain having that bit having everything done to it literally and then the orange rs is at home with the amg gtr so i need to go and call a cab actually to get back to my place to get the amg gtr to then bring it back here and i'm back at home in the garage with the amg gtr but there is a small change of plans because in typical british winter weather fashion just as i was arriving back here it started pouring with rain now the gtr is reasonably clean and the center isn't too bad itself plus it's on tropheo r tyres so i didn't really fancy taking this car over bringing the center back for very little point i'll save that for another time it is however awesome to now have the center back from topaz ready and set for the adventures and believe me there are a lot of things planned with that car this is going to be a very busy year in usual style with the cars that arrive in my garage but a big thanks to topaz as always and you can check out their youtube channel too if you'd like to see more with nabil and some of the top level work that they do as well also in the description down below don't forget the link to the your car poster if you're interested in one of those you can find more down there but i think for me that is pretty much the end of today's errands i've had a few stops in the center just a little feel with just over 70 miles or so on the clock but this is really the very early days the very very beginning for what's going to be coming with that car so thank you very much as always for watching guys i appreciate your support an awful lot that is it for this time though i'll see you again very soon cheers youhi guys i'm shmee hello and welcome back to the shakes you it shakes through to the bone i've made a stop off at storage before i'm next going to head home to get the amg gtr and bring that here but i tell you what is almost in a way a little bit painful is that earlier on at topaz the cena was perfectly presented immaculate condition and then i took it straight out to drive it on damp and wet roads and i tell you what the result of that is if you have a car with a lot of open body work crazy arrow and sticky tires if i just come in a little bit closer and turn on the light on my camera um have a look here behind the front wheel arches uh yeah i've only driven the thing a couple of miles it basically throws up all of the dirty rain water up off the tires over all the bodywork and it's going to be very hard to actually keep this car clean when you drive it in fact all of the aero parts just seem like magnets for dirty water or whatever's out out on the roads but that could be cleaned not too much to worry about also here at the moment we have these two under their covers sitting on their tire cushions plugged into trickle chargers the gt8 and the 675 lt because i didn't really know when i was next going to drive them so they're kind of packed up for long term storage at the moment the ford gt would normally be here but that is actually back with ford at the moment you might remember it had a little rattle coming out of the dashboard area they knew what that was it's the rocker assembly so that's being sorted out it's in fact it's been sorted out and the car will be sent back to me very very shortly and there is also something that i'm about to change on that car a small little modification so i'm going to be sharing that with you in the not too distant future at all the red rs is of course away at mountain having that bit having everything done to it literally and then the orange rs is at home with the amg gtr so i need to go and call a cab actually to get back to my place to get the amg gtr to then bring it back here and i'm back at home in the garage with the amg gtr but there is a small change of plans because in typical british winter weather fashion just as i was arriving back here it started pouring with rain now the gtr is reasonably clean and the center isn't too bad itself plus it's on tropheo r tyres so i didn't really fancy taking this car over bringing the center back for very little point i'll save that for another time it is however awesome to now have the center back from topaz ready and set for the adventures and believe me there are a lot of things planned with that car this is going to be a very busy year in usual style with the cars that arrive in my garage but a big thanks to topaz as always and you can check out their youtube channel too if you'd like to see more with nabil and some of the top level work that they do as well also in the description down below don't forget the link to the your car poster if you're interested in one of those you can find more down there but i think for me that is pretty much the end of today's errands i've had a few stops in the center just a little feel with just over 70 miles or so on the clock but this is really the very early days the very very beginning for what's going to be coming with that car so thank you very much as always for watching guys i appreciate your support an awful lot that is it for this time though i'll see you again very soon cheers you\n"
