DIY Emoji Magnets with Sea Lemon - HGTV Handmade

**Creating Emoji Magnets: A Step-by-Step Guide**

When it comes to adding a personal touch to our lives, we often turn to creative DIY projects. In this article, we'll explore how to create your own Emoji magnets using foam, glue, and other craft materials. With these easy-to-follow steps, you can transform your fridge into a colorful and playful space.

**The First Emoji: Expressionless Face**

We start with the easiest one – the expressionless face emoji 🤔. The process is simple yet requires attention to detail. Using a permanent marker, draw three lines for the face, creating the signature shape of this emoji. Next, cut out a circle from white craft foam and glue it onto the face, forming the eye. A black dot serves as the pupil, while a brown permanent marker completes the features by filling in the rest of the face. To add some personality to your Emoji, you can fill in the smile with a brown marker.

**The Second Emoji: Face with Okay Gesture**

Next up is the face with an okay gesture emoji 🤷‍♀️. This one requires a bit more precision, as it's based on the size of the other emojis. Measure out the shape and draw around it to create the girl with her hands up over her head. Trim the shape to form the overall structure of the Emoji. Pink craft foam serves as the sweater, which you can cut out using a template or freehanding it. Trimming the sleeves and outlining the face complete the look. Glue everything together using a glue gun, ensuring that both sides are even and parallel.

**The Third Emoji: Poo**

Time to get creative with the Poo emoji 🚽! This one requires experience in drawing, as Karen Cavitt had to create a video challenge for this very emoji. We'll use brown craft foam to create the outline of the Poop, then trim it out to achieve accuracy. Cut out eyes from white foam and glue them onto the Poop using black permanent marker. Add some detail with an orange marker by outlining the rolls – it's not as gross as it sounds! Finally, add a smile and fill in any remaining features.

**The Sparkle Emoji**

This one is simple yet fun – the sparkle emoji 💎! Cut out sparkles from yellow foam and glue them onto a square-shaped background. Make sure to create rounded corners for an authentic look. Use orange permanent marker to add an outline if desired. This Emoji adds a touch of magic to any space, making it perfect for decoration or gift-giving.

**Tips and Variations**

To make your Emoji magnets more graphic, use adhesive dots instead of magnet strips on the back. You can also experiment with different shapes, sizes, and colors to create unique variations. If you want to try a checkmark symbol, simply draw a triangle with an arrowhead. With these tips and techniques, you're ready to start creating your own Emoji magnets.

**Conclusion**

Creating Emoji magnets is a fun and creative way to add personality to your life. By following these easy steps and using everyday craft materials, you can transform your fridge into a colorful space that showcases your unique style. From the expressionless face to the Poo emoji, there are countless options for customization. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello it's Jennifer from cemon I'm so happy to be back on HGTV handmade if you are not familiar with my channel I make a lot of DIY videos and I do it on a channel called sea lemon which you can subscribe to if you want to see more of what I do I also have a vlog going up today which you can check out and learn more about about the details of me being on this channel as well as some behind the scenes stuff I did with some of the other httv handmade ladies so go check it out in this video I want to show you how to make these fun Emoji magnets these are perfect for going back to school you can put them on your locker or a marker board that's magnetic as you know sometimes going back to school can be stressful and when you put a goofy emoji on something or you just see that when you are in the moment of stress it kind of reduces your stress level because they are so goofy and you can also put them on your refrigerator or non-magnetic surfaces you can just put something sticky on the back and put them on whatever you want to make these magnets I'll be using craft foam you could of course print these emojis out but I like the 3D look that the craft foam gives I'm using a stencil to trace the circles and cut them out from the foam this first Emoji I'm doing is literally the easiest one it's just three lines this one is called the expressionless face and I'm just making this with a permanent marker then I'm making the emoji with the stuck out tongue and winking eye and to make the eye I'm just cutting a circle out of white craft foam and gluing that down with a glue gun completing the eye with a black dot with a permanent black marker and for the other features I'm using a brown permanent marker it really helps to have the emojis in front of you while you're drawing them so I have my iPad set up right in front of me while I'm making these now I'm just filling in the smile completely and then I cut the tongue out of pink craft foam and it's totally up to you if you want to use scissors or a craft knife since these are so small I found it easier to use the scissors then just a dab of glue for the tongue to complete this wacky emoji face for this next one it's the face with okay gesture apparently that's what it's called I'm basing it off of the size of the other Emoji which is about 1 and 1/2 in and while looking at the Emoji graphic I'm just drawing around this making the shape of the girl with the hands up over her head then just trim that shape out and next is to make her pink sweater so I'm using that shape again on top of a piece of pink craft foam and just tracing it but this time making it a little larger than the original shape and if you're going for accuracy you want to make sure that both sides are even and parallel now making the sleeves and the outline of her face trim that out and your emoji now has a pink sweater you want to glue that on top of the original shape with some glue and then you can start filling in the features I used the brown permanent marker again and just making her hands and her hair and filling in her features with a black permanent marker on the smile and then going back to the brown for the nose and the eyes you can also use a yellow permanent marker if you want her hair to stand out a little bit more then outline her sweater with a brown just to make it more graphic like the Emoji now I'm sure you know which one is coming up as soon as you see the brown craft foam yes I have to make the Poo emoji and I actually have experience in drawing the Poo Emoji I'm pretty familiar with it by now because I did a challenge with Karen cavitt I will link that at the end if you want to check that out so now I'm going to just trim this out and do the same thing I did with the features trim out the eyes from a piece of white foam glue those on also if you want another Emoji project Meg actually did some Easter eggs and they came out really cute you can check that video out right here so then I'm just trimming out the smile and gluing that on to the creepy looking poo right now also I'm outlining the Poo rolls oh it sounds gross but I wanted to look more like the Emoji and then I'm just adding the eyes with a black permanent marker this next one is more simple it's easier to do and it's the sparkle emoji just draw the sparkles on a piece of yellow foam and then I'm just gluing them onto a square with rounded Corners which I made from a piece of white foam and again I'm looking at the original Emoji to figure out the placement of the Sparkles if you want to make it more graphic you can add an outline with an orange permanent marker now to make these in emojis I'm recycling a cheap magnet which I don't use it's on my fridge and I'm just cutting those into squares that will fit on the back of the foam pieces and gluing them with a glue gun if you have a wooden Locker or something that isn't magnetic you can use adhesive dots to stick onto the back rather than a piece of magnet you can really use the same process with any Emoji there are so many emojis to choose from and these are just some of my favorite you can also try symbols like a check mark to mark off anything from your to-do list whichever you choose they definitely add a fun element to whatever you choose to put these on what are some of your favorite emojis tell me or show me in the comments below and if you make any of these Emoji magnets I would love to see your pictures so be sure to add # httv handmade to them hit that like button and
