The Pocket S: A New Android Handheld Device?
If that black is a real fingerprint magnet or not RGB rings around those analog sticks and this is really indicative of other iono devices they also released a couple images of this thing in what I consider dock mode so hopefully it does support display over USB type Ty C and I don't see why it wouldn't with that Snapdragon g3x Gen 2 the chip is fully capable of it just hopefully they do utilize it straight out of the box because this is kind of a must for these newer Android handheld devices hitting the market a lot of people do want to go to dock mode and kind of use separate controllers and just have a bigger screen to play on.
Moving on to some features that we're sure of stuff that they've announced so far it will have Hall sensing joysticks and linear Hall triggers around back so that's great no drift there really accurate. We've got that performance boost mode button over on the side or the turbo button which will allow us to easily switch between performance modes and they state that this can do up to 15 watts which is pretty crazy for an arm chip but with active Cooling and you know how powerful these chips are nowadays I think this thing should put down some amazing performance when it comes to high-speed dual AIS linear Motors. Plus, we'll have a Sixaxis Gyro in here so we can play our games with that built-in gyro personally not a huge fan of this but I know a lot of people with these mobile games love their gyro so it's here with the Pocket S.
Large area thermal plate with active Cooling and this is going to come in really handy because this is going to be powered by that Snapdragon g3x Gen 2, this is one of Qualcomm's mobile gaming Centric chips I mean it's really designed for handheld gaming devices but unfortunately, I can't find any official benchmarks online for the g3x Gen 2 now Qualcomm has come out and said that GPU performance is increased by 100% when you compare it to the G3 X gen one and that's a chip that we actually saw in the Razor Edge. Now speaking of that chip basically it only turned out to be kind of an overclock Snapdragon a88, a lot of people were really disappointed by the performance it was putting out but when that device came out there weren't a lot of other dedicated Android handhelds on the market with that kind of power it was putting out some really good performance but it kind of PEEED in comparison to some of the higher-end Android handsets on the market with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and now that we have the Snapdragon 8 gen 3 I don't know if the g3x Gen 2 will be able to keep up with a chipset like that.
But, of course, Qualcomm did design this specifically for gaming. We do have that boost up to 15 watts and we can do 15 watts sustained performance because of the cooling system here and the GPU which just happens to be the new Adreno A32 is clocked up to 1 GHz, and the Cryo Prime Ultra cores in the g3x Gen 2 do clock up to 3.36 GHz so there is a we're going to see some absolutely amazing performance out of this handheld there's no doubt in my mind that this is going to be able to handle all of the Android games on the market right now we're going to be able to max out GCH and Impact emulators, no problem for PSP PS2 Wii GameCube and even some Switch games using the Yuzu emulator for Android. Now it's still a bit early for that emulator but it's coming along quite nicely.
But, that raises another question is it going to be worth picking an Android device up where we're going to be limited up to switch or maybe fork out some more money not worry about battery life so much and pick up something with an x86 CPU. I think when it comes down to it we need to know the price of the new Pocket S there's no doubt really does look like an amazing Android handheld but with all of the super powerful handhelds on the market right now powered by Ryzen and even upcoming Intel handhelds is there still a place for an Android device like this. I personally think there is as long as they can get that price right so that's what I'd like to know from you guys in the comments below is this something you'd be interested in picking up at the right price point and what would be the right price point for the Pocket S.
Let me know down below, and if you're interested in learning a little more I'll leave some links to their website and YouTube channel but that's going to wrap it up for this one. Kind of wanted to start a conversation just get your thoughts on it, if you've got any questions let me know down below and like always thanks for watching
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey what's going on everybody etaa Prime back here again this going to be kind of a quick one but I wanted to get everybody's thoughts on the recently announced aano pocket s now of course they did kind of tease this a while ago but recently over on their website and YouTube channel they posted quite a bit about this upcoming handheld and I got to say this thing looks absolutely beautiful iano really does know how to design a handheld but uh one thing to keep in mind here is this is actually their new Android handheld and I got to say this thing looks AB absolutely beautiful super thin design 1440p display and it's powered by the Snapdragon g3x Gen 2 with up to 15 watts of power on demand they really did go all out with the design here of the new pocket s only 14 mm thin and everything that we've seen so far with this screen in action I mean it looks phenomenal and over on the side here they even have a performance switch to allow maximum performance and since this is in a handheld form factor not a phone we do have active cooling which which will allow us to keep those boost clocks on the GPU and the CPU up for long periods of time it will even come pre-installed with ispace for Android and onscreen key mapping for games that need onscreen key mapping I.E gch and impact for Android still doesn't have native Android controller support so this is going to come in really handy there are other games on the market that really do need this you can really utilize onscreen key mapping with these physical controls but yeah I mean they've released a lot of information so far unfortunately the only thing that they haven't released is the pricing of the upcoming pocket s it does look like we're going to be getting two different color variants a black or a darker colored version and we've also got the white version that they've shown off so far personally I'm not sure which one I'd like more it really depends on if that black is a real fingerprint Magnet or not RGB rings around those analog sticks and this is really indicative of other iono devices they also released a couple images of this thing in what I consider dock
