How to Change Your Desktop Background in Ubuntu 16.04
Hello everyone, my name is Adam Maros Box and welcome back to another Ubuntu 16.04 tips video. In this video, I'm going to show you how to change your desktop background for Ubuntu. As this one's kind of boring, so first and foremost, right-click on the desktop or go to System Settings and click on "Change Desktop Background". Both ways will take you to about the same place.
Now that you're there, you have a few different options. You can choose from wallpapers, which has a default set of wallpapers here. You can choose one that you like, move your window around figure out which one will look best to you. I don't really like any of these to be honest, uh but I'm going to go with the city skyline one. Maybe none of these really appeal to me, I'm going to go with the city skyline one for now.
You also have a few more customization options here. But I've already done a full Ubuntu customization tutorial, link to that will be on the card icon or description down below. My cat is walking on my laptop, I put um but that was a very lengthy vid so video, so I'm doing some individualized kind of tutorial things so you have the default wallpapers that are built in goodbye cat.
You have pictures folder which you can set to be a full folder of your pictures which I'm going to show you in just a moment. Or you can choose just plain colors and gradients. Here's a black here's a blue gradient although it's not doing anything when I previously did this, it set it to an actual color so we'll do like light blue to dark blue and then you can change which direction that gradient goes. That's kind of cool so that those are the basic wallpapers available.
If you want to know where to get some neat wallpapers, actually go to a site called Wall Haven, it's in Alpha, used to be called wallbase.cc and now it's alpha.wallhaven.cc I don't exactly know what happened to it but they changed it a little bit. They have a lot of different wallpapers of just about anything so you can hit random they're going to have some weird ones that have like scantily clad girls and stuff but you don't want any of that and they do have filters like this is all safer work.
And then there's sketchy, you can choose resolution we are running at 1080p so I'm going to search for full HD here uh ratio actually yeah I'm just going to do 16 by 9 that's what's important uh resolution can be anything cuz we're going to assume it's high uh it's you know all right a number of favorites we're going to go by that and we're going to look for let's just look for I I don't know so we're just going to keep scrolling through that random real quick let's find a wallpaper that looks kind of nice that looks really nice but I don't know if I want that as a wallpaper let's find something basic here that would be decent as a background for videos.
