**The GT 730 Re-Release: A Closer Look at Its Performance and Availability**
Hello everyone and welcome to another video. It seems as though the GT 730 has also gotten the re-release treatment this year, thanks to GPU shortages. I’ve seen cards from Gainwood, MSI, and ASUS retailing online. While the 730 comes in both DDR3 and GDDR5 variants, it’s the DDR3 card that seems far more common. The new ASUS one looks pretty cool and features GDDR5 memory, but as of this video, I haven’t been able to find one anywhere. To clarify, you should definitely always go for GDDR5 cards over DDR3 as they’ll offer better performance even at the lower end of things. Statistically, it’s likely that most of you shopping for a 730 will end up with the weaker variant due to availability reasons.
This tiny HP model dates back a few years, but nothing separates it from modern iterations performance-wise. It has the same core count and clock speed as new cards and even supports 4K at 60 hertz. I have no problem with the 730 being relaunched as it’s ideal for those who just want something cheap for basic purposes. However, already the reintroduction of this entry-level tier card has contributed to a whole new wave of fast gaming PCs being sold on certain selling sites where it is included as the centerpiece of a supposedly capable gaming machine.
In some games, the 730 is okay, especially at lower resolutions. I’ve always said that it’s important to manage your expectations with certain hardware, but for those people just getting into PC gaming with little to no knowledge of components and coming across GT 730-based PCs for three or four hundred pounds, well they probably don’t know what expectations they should have. Hopefully, that’s where I can help out.
For big AAA games released within the last few years, it’s probably no good. Some games come close with drops to both resolution and resolution scaling, but the best you can hope for is somewhere near 30 frames per second. As soon as I can, I’ll find the GDDR5 card, and we’ll do a few comparisons because while the difference might not be huge in some titles, I think there certainly will be some differences and possibly significant ones in others.
With that said, it’s not uncommon to see an emphasis on games like Fortnite with certain pre-built 730 machines online. In terms of GPU power, the GT 730 can certainly offer a playable experience at 720p with the new performance mode enabled. We’ve seen a few re-releases over the last year with the 710, RTX 2060, and GTX 1050 Ti being among them, and now we’ve got the 730 back in the roster too.
This DDR3 card is still better than the GDDR5 710 we tested a few months back but it is more expensive. So there’s something to bear in mind; it’s still not a good idea for gamers, though—something you probably expected already, but there we go.
The 730 wasn’t very good when it came out, and it’s still not very good today. With all that said, thank you very much for watching. If you enjoyed this video, leave a like on it; leave a dislike if you didn’t. Subscribe to the channel if you haven’t done so already, and hopefully, I’ll see all of you in the next one.
