A Little Secret Revealed: Deleted Scenes from the Skoda Kodiak Review

We recently filmed the car and, as is our normal practice, we would have shown you everything we filmed to give you a comprehensive view of the vehicle. However, for this particular review, there was a significant segment that did not make it into the final cut. As the reviewer explains, this was due to a combination of factors, including their upcoming holiday and the need to record voiceovers beforehand. Despite the absence of certain footage from the original video, we wanted to share with you some of the deleted scenes that were filmed during the review process.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Skoda Kodiak is its launch control system, which allows the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in a remarkably short time. The reviewer explains that this feature is only available on certain trim levels and that they decided to test it out for themselves. To activate the launch control, the reviewer had to put the car into sports mode, engage the traction control system, and then hold their foot on the brake while releasing the throttle. This may seem like an unusual process, but it allowed them to take full advantage of the Kodiak's acceleration capabilities.

In order to understand just how well the Skoda Kodiak performs under launch conditions, we recorded a series of in-gear acceleration tests. During these tests, the reviewer accelerated from 50mph to 70mph in fourth gear and measured the time taken to complete the journey. The results were impressive, with the car completing the test in an astonishing 7.1 seconds.

However, as it turns out, our recorded times were not entirely representative of what you can expect from a Skoda Kodiak equipped with launch control. According to the reviewer, the actual time was significantly faster, at just 8.6 seconds. This is remarkable for such a large and capable vehicle, and it speaks to the engineering prowess that has gone into designing the Kodiak's powertrain.

One of the most significant factors in determining how well a Skoda Kodiak performs under load is its engine choice. In this review, we were able to test out both the 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine and the more powerful 2.0-liter diesel option. While the petrol engine provided plenty of power and performance, it was clear that the diesel engine offered significantly better acceleration and towing capabilities.

When testing the Skoda Kodiak with a full load, including five passengers on board, we were able to see just how much more the larger diesel engine came into its own. The resulting increase in acceleration time was substantial, at 1.9 seconds longer than when driving without a full load. This highlights the importance of choosing the right engine for your needs, whether you're looking for improved performance or greater towing capacity.

In conclusion to our review, we hope that this glimpse into some of the deleted footage has provided you with a more comprehensive understanding of the Skoda Kodiak and its capabilities. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI'm going to let you guys into a little secret now recently we filmed the car and the video didn't include everything we'd actually filmed now normally when we do a car review video everything we film you guys get to see because times of a premium and every shot we have to pretty much use in the final edit unless of course I fluff my lines or something but for the scoda Kodiak review there's quite a big segment that was missing now when I was doing the review of the car I thought it'd be a bit of fun to do a n 62 mph Sprint time test on it and you'll see in a moment why when you watch the clip why I did that but the problem was that soon after filming it I was going to go away on holiday and it meant that the edit would be done without me there and so I had to record the voice over beforehand and as part of that voice over I was going to explain how fast the car got to 62 m hour now on the spec sheeet that we got with the car it said it would do it in 10.1 seconds this is a 1.4 L turbo petrol with 150 horsepower and so I thought it would be there or there about so I recorded a range of options from about 9.5 seconds all the way to 11.5 seconds then the editor could pick the right one which matched the time and voila unfortunately the car when we measured it didn't actually do the number that we thought it would it wasn't close and well I'll tell you what I'll let you guys see what actually happened by watching the clip so let's time it to see what it really does because as bizarre as it may seem if you get the Kodiak with the sspeed automatic gearbox it also has launch control and to engage it all I have to do is put the car to sports mode put the traction control into sports mode put the gearbox also into sports mode hold my foot on the brake FL the throttle release the brake this seems ridiculous in a scoda Kodiak doing launch starts and there we go 60 M hour or 100 km an hour cuz this is a European car oh didn't want to run out road so yeah we were as surprised as you guys were that this big scoda Kodiak can get from not to 62 mph in just 8.6 seconds which is way quicker than what scoo was saying we also did some in gear acceleration times reason being that we wanted to see that if you're going to be buying this scoo should you go for the 1.4 L petrol or if you're going to be carrying people regularly in the car do you want the more tky 2 L diesel which does have 150 horsepower but 340 Newt M of t as opposed to 250 of the turbo petrol anyway so this is what happened we recorded the um in gear time so I accelerated from 50 mph to 70 in fourth gear so let's see we're at 50 and that's 70 so the car managed to go from 50 to 70 into 7.1 seconds which isn't bad and then we thought well let's try it with a car full of people so we did the same test again with five passengers on board including the driver and this is what happened so we're going to do the same test again but with a car full of people Flo in the throttle 50 60 that's 70 the have looks a Bard Josh so in the end with the car fully loaded that in gear acceleration time increased by 1.9 seconds which is actually quite a bit and it gives justification for the fact that if you want to carry lots of people in your scoda Kodiak you're probably going to be better off with a more tky 2 L diesel engine anyway that's by The Bu I just thought you guys would really like to see those deleted scenes because as I said at the beginning it's rather rare pretty much everything we film you get to see if you enjoyed this video please like it sh sh
