My Favorite Travel Tech

The Adventurer's Guide: A Hands-On Review of the Mi Power Bank Pro

Hey guys, it's Austin, and today we're going on an adventure with our trusty travel tech by our side. We've got the Mi Power Bank Pro, courtesy of Mi, which I feel is a great way to show off this amazing battery pack.

When Mi reached out to sponsor a video featuring their Power Bank Pro, I thought it was a better idea than just giving away the product without showcasing its features. So, when we're on-the-go, this 10,000 milliamp hour-capacity power bank will be our reliable companion, providing plenty of juice for all our devices.

The Mi Power Bank Pro is small and sleek, making it easy to fit in your pocket or bag. It's straightforward to use, with a full-sized USB eight-port to charge our devices. The power bank itself is charged via a USB-C port, and we also have a little battery indicator to see how much charge we have left. Additionally, the Mi Power Bank comes with both a USB-A cable and a micro-USB for charging your device on-the-go.

Before we head out, let's talk about some of our essentials for this trip: Nintendo Switches are always great for a bit of Mario Kart action during flights, but keep in mind you can't fast charge the Switch.

We were traveling pretty light, so in addition to the camera we're using right now, I also have my trusty Sony RX 100. What's nice about this camera is that it still takes some pretty nice-looking fourK video despite being small and pocket-able. On the other hand, it has its trade-offs like only recording for five minutes in 4K and not having great battery life.

The main camera we're using today is the Sony A 6500. It's like the bigger brother of the RX 100, with interchangeable lenses, a proper microphone input, and an even larger 35mm sensor. However, it seems I forgot to charge its batteries, so my trusty Mi Power Bank Pro comes to the rescue.

Another essential item for our travels is a smartphone – my daily driver is the iPhone Ten, which has been pretty happy with me so far. Both Ken and I are also using the Google Pixel Two, and one of the things I've been doing recently is taking thumbnails for YouTube using the Pixel two, which will be the one for this video.

After a day of shooting, our next step is to bring the footage back and start editing. Our go-to tool for this is the 2016 MacBook Pro – yes, it's an older model, but it's sort of our mobile workstation. The desk might be a bit of a mess due to all the stuff we need, including dongles and SDs, but one of the most important things is our headphones – these are the Status C-B ones, and especially when you're editing on planes, hotel rooms, and everywhere else, it's nice to have good quality headsets that know what they're doing.

We've got everything in our travel bag now, and I want to thank Mi for sponsoring this video. If you guys want to check out the PowerBank Pro for yourselves, you can find the links in the description over on Amazon.

Now, let's talk about a really cool item – it's the Mi Electric Scooter. Not only do we get 18 miles of range on this scooter, but it's also convenient if you need to take it with you. It's simple to use; just undoing one thing and then it will clip together right here, and you can pick it up and walk around with it like that. It's pretty lightweight.

Just like the Power Bank Pro, we've got a link to this scooter on Amazon in the description, and I do have an extra one to give away to you guys – all you need to do is leave the word

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- Hey guys, this is Austin, and today we are going on an adventure. So when Mi reached out andwanted to sponsor a videoon their Power Bank Pro, I felt likewhat better way of showing it off, then to give you guys a sneak peekat the kind of traveltech that we take with us.With 10,000 milliamp hours of capacity, this is going to have plenty of juiceto power all of ourdevices during the trip, and it does come in a prettysmall and sleek form factor, unlike some other larger battery banks, this is going to be easyto fit in your pocket, easy to fit in a bag, no problem. So as you'd expect, it'sstraight-forward to use.We have a full sized U-S-B eightport to charge your devices. The power bank itself is chargedwith a U-S-B C port, and you havea little battery indicator hereto see how much chargeyour battery bank has.The Mi Power Bank also comes withthis U-S-B A cable to U-S-B C,so you just plug it in and you cancharge your devices this way,but if you don't have something thatcharges with U-S-B C, you justpop off this little end here, and you're also going to begetting this micro U-S-B.And of course, you can't leave withoutmaking sure your phone is charged. So the Power Bank Pro has enough juiceto charge something like the Pixel two,two in a half times, and it does supporta full eighteen watts of output,so something like the pixel isgoing to be easy to fast charge.Alright, that's enough talk.Let's get out of here and actually, well, show the travel tech.I mean, that's what you came for, right?(hip-hop music)So the first things we do on any tripis, well, spend time on a plane, and what better way to do that, then with a Nintendo Switch. So, not only is it greatfor a little bit oftwo-player Mario Kart, but of course, the Mi Power Bank is able tofully charge it no problem.Just keep in mind that youcan't fast charge the Switch. Now I'll have you know, that I would havewon the Mario Kart match,if it weren't for Kennot actually shooting the video. You know, it's kind of hard to playwith one hand and shoot with the other. And yes, these are excuses in fact. Now, because we were just up herefor about twenty-four hours, and we'reshooting a couple videos,I'm traveling pretty light. So in addition to the camerawe're shooting with right now,I also have my Sony R-X 100.And what's nice about this guy,is that even though it's a tiny, little pocket-able camera, we're actuallystill getting some prettynice looking four K video.- So this camera also hasits fair bit of trade offs, like for example, it only recordsfor five minutes in four K, whichobviously I'd like for that to be longer, but also, it doesn't have the greatestbattery life in the world, which iswhere something like theMi Power Bank comes in.- The main camera we'reusing today though,is the Sony A 6500.Now in a lot of ways you can think of thisas the bigger brother to the R-X 100.So not only do we havean interchangeable lens,we're also getting aproper microphone input, and importantly, a much bigger, super thirty-five sensor. However, we actually forgotto charge the batteries,so the Mi Power Bank, about to come in handy.Actually legitimate, I'm goingto plug your camera in right now.(laughs)Now, I can legitimately say the Miis literally powering this video.Of course, no travel is completewithout a smart phone, which iswhere the iPhone ten comes in.So this is my daily driver right now,and for the most partI've been pretty happy. However, both Ken and I are alsorocking the Google Pixel Two.I like the Pixel two, whereasKen's rocking the X-L,but we're both using it forpretty much the same reason. The camera is absolutely the bestyou can get on a smart phone right now.- So one of the thingsI've been doing recentlyis taking thumbnails forYouTube using the Pixel two,and this is going to bethe one for this video.- So after a day of shooting, next stepis to bring the footage backand actually start editing. So, our weapon of choice here is goingto be the 2016 MacBook Pro.Actually never reallyupdated to the newer one,but this is sort of ourmobile work station. As you can see, the deskis a little bit of a mess, thanks to, well, all of the stuff we need, including dongles andS-S-D's to edit off of,but one of the most important thingsis going to be our headphones.I've talked about thesein many videos before, but these are the Status C-B ones, and especially when you'reediting on like planes, and hotel rooms and all over the place,it's nice to have agood pair of headphonesthat you know you can trust, especiallywhen you're editing footagethat was shot in a park, and in China Town, andon a plane, it's nice toactually know that your audiois not going to be terrible. So that is everythingthat is in our travel bag,and of course, huge shout out to Mifor sponsoring this video, and if you guyswant to check out the PowerBank Pro for yourselves, the links will be in thedescription over on Amazon. Now, you might be wondering why am Iriding this incredibly stylish scooter.Well this is the Mi Electric Scooter, and they actually gave me one to not onlycheck off on this video, butalso to give away for you guys.So this is really cool, because not onlyare you getting eighteenmiles or range on this guy,but it's also convenient if you needto take it for a little trip, for example,I know Ken takes this back and fortharound work all the time, and what's coolis if you want to actually travel with it,it's simple just undoing this one thingand then it will clip together right here, and you just pick it up andwalk around with it like this. It's pretty lightweight. So just like with the Power Bank Pro,you can check out our link to this guyon Amazon in the description, and I dohave one extra to give away to you guys.To enter, all you need to do isleave the word "scooter"in a comment in this video. In two weeks I'm going to randomly selectone and send you guys a scooter.Okay guys, thank you so much for watchingand I will catch you on the next one.
