Corsair Raptor K40 & Corsair Vengeance M65 Gaming Mouse _ Review & Overview

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: endrop it hey everybody random frank p today i got two reviews for you guys and one i got a new little setup here for my gaming pc uh tuned in peripherals i got the corsair raptor k40 keyboard as well as the corsair vengeance m65 uh gaming mouse so i'm going to do a quick little review and overview of these two uh yeah we'll get right into it all right so just going over the main features and layout of the corsair rafter k4 you can see it is a completely matte finish it is rubber textured or rubber coated keys as you want to call them uh they are rubber dome switches so they are not mechanical at the mx cherry blues browns or reds reds being the most popular mechanical keyboard there is however they do sound a lot like the brown switches and they feel a lot like them which is why i like them i tried some mechanical keyboards out in the past and i wasn't really a fan until i owned the um the razer tartarus gaming keypad and that had just fantastic rubber dome switches and these pretty much have the exact same keys uh the the keys are a little bit smaller than the razer charters keypad but they just feel really nice when you click down on them and for gaming it is just phenomenal and i prefer these 10 times more than i would prefer um mx cherry switches so going over the keyboard as you can see like i said before black finish it has these silver keys for the wast or wasd and the arrow keys over here on the side you have your six g buttons which are your macro commands you set them up here mr which is right here this is macro record for that you would just press it uh you can't really see it right now because it's light and the leds on this keyboard aren't too bright but we'll go over that a little bit this blinks red you click on whatever switch you or whatever um key you want to highlight for this macro you click on it you record your macro and you click mr again and you set your uh your macro to that key switch there are six total keys here and there are three macro profiles up top and one m two and three which means you can have up to eighteen separate uh macros set to just these six keys so that's pretty good right here as you can see we have windows lock button this is great for gaming you press that and it locks up this button so if you're playing you're trying to hit shift or control and you're trying to crouch you hit the windows key frustrates a lot of people they have a nice windows lock button to avoid all that over here are your media keys as you can see it's nicely laid out on the keyboard for us so you have to go into your computer settings we have the mute button volume down volume up stop playback pause and forward and here again because of the lights kind of hard to see but this is your brightness key now we'll go over this i'll show you some footage now but in the dark so you can actually see it this is the button the little sun that controls the brightness factor on your keyboard so the leds this controls it there are three well i guess four different settings which you can have it on uh one would be off low medium and high and honestly i think one of the biggest things this keyboard is lacking in is the uh the leds they are not bright at all in the daytime as you can see i have it up right now full setting and i know the light shining on it so it's kind of hard okay now they are on the brightest setting and even though it is daytime i know it's kind of hard to see but still you can slightly notice it but it's really not even worth it to have it on the daytime so i'll just show you how to look like when they're but these are the three settings in the daytime and you've seen how they look in the nighttime uh slightly that they are not the brightest i know the corsair vengeance uh series keyboards they have very bright and uh very good-looking leds on their keyboards obviously this was a significantly cheaper so we're going to be lacking at some sort and that's okay but uh it's my picky end on this i i would have liked to see much nicer and flashier brighter leds on this keyboard the k40 is made entirely of plastic unlike the vengeance series which is all metal as you can see here it's not brushed metal as it appears it is just plastic along the side and along the bottom as well and it's to look from the side angle from the keyboard as you can see the rubber dome switches right there which we'll go over more in a minute at this piece i will be clicking and pressing down on the switches so you can hear how they sound as opposed to the very clicky sound of a standard mechanical keyboard so you can hear the difference between this rubber domed keyboard like rubber switches again versus the mechanical you can see very quiet and it's just it's a satisfying feeling it does delay doesn't sound bad either sometimes when you're playing with like a red keyboard the red switches it's too clicky and it's kind of annoying if you're doing voiceovers or gameplays and you have that click click like constantly in the background this it's a very silent and subtle like like a thud almost but it feels very nice very responsive touch to it all right taking off the tab keys you can see here uh nothing really fancy just an led light down there and a little rubber dome uh switch thing which is how your keyboard works not a lot going on looks kind of cool though and this is the usb connecting area you know it's just connected through a rubber usb cord not braided but that's all right now we're going to switch hands and go into the mouse review all right now this is the corsair vengeance m65 gaming mouse from uh of course there obviously i've been using it for about a week and a half and i could say it's definitely one of the nice gaming mouses that i've ever used and i haven't really used many but still very nice gaming mouse as you can see up top here we have the leds oh it's kind of getting blurry all right we have the leds here indicating your dpi settings you can set in the software which i will show you this is your highest setting you have three settings you have the highest middle and low you just toggle them by pressing this button here the mouse the scrolling wheel is pretty nice you know has that rubber that really rubber feel to it it's not like that the logitech g504 i believe or it's that constant spinning wheel you can set it to but it's still very nice on the side here you can see we have three buttons we have your sniper button they call it and your front and or your forward and backward button and that's it for keys we have one two three four five six seven eight keys and they can all be set in the software to do separate things as well if you want to change like the profile settings again and i'll show you all the stuff in the software in a little bit so just looking around the mouse you can see it's very nice it has a nice metal uh back to it or bottom i guess with these i guess five what do you call them feet i guess uh they're very soft rubber this is to help you so you don't have a lot of traction it helps you slide around a lot easier i don't have a mouse pad if you're pointless i have an issue gaming former here and it works perfectly fine haven't had any issues with it on the bottom also you have your three removable weights that you can put in it's honestly it's not too heavy with all three of the men some people might take out one i haven't had an issue with it but it's just a very nice looking uh mouse though with the matte black finish the uh the metal base i guess and the uh the l the blue leds it really sets it apart and it lines up perfectly with their corsair vengeance keyboard line uh this does come in two different colors also comes in white and a uh like an army green kind of finish but i think the black silver and the blue goes well with what i'm trying to do here at my setup and one last note this mouse does have a braided usb cord so it's not going to get you know torn or bit up or anything really nice feels really sturdy but now let's get into the software all right this is the software now you can download from their website uh just go and get their drivers and stuff and you're all good uh very simple you know not not too difficult to figure out has the three main keys this is for the keyboard up top you see the assign keys reset your macros profiles and the backlight uh the backlight you can set up to i think like 16.8 million colors but those like the main ones you could set it to if your brightness you can adjust right here and you have in the bottom like your light effects you can do pulse or i'll cycle through all the colors i usually leave it at pulse for when it's uh idle and yeah you like to keep it at blue if you want you can like fine tune it they have like a certain color blue you like or whatever but that's what the true color thing is about where you can just pick one of those eight colors up there where it's like i guess like the brightest it could be so pretty good uh back to the assigned keys like i said before to record it all you have to do is hit that mr button up top the red and then hit one of the g one through six things just to show you guys uh some of the settings and stuff on the side playback options the advanced option delay option that's for setting your macros on like a delay or different stuff like that if you use them for like the games mmos that really do stuff with them i really don't uh okay now we're gonna go into the mouse uh very simple you can change all of the eight um buttons there uh you go into the performance you can change your dpi i have it um this lowest setting is on small then medium high it just gets faster and faster as it goes up and sniper button i have set to really really low dpi for precision aiming i like to keep it usually at middle uh for gaming and stuff you can change the millisecond ratings uh the surface quality change of different profiles and stuff like i said you can assign the buttons to different profiles that you have set for maybe different games and uh same thing with the profiles like i said you can do um certain games require different profiles you can go and save that import them there yeah but you're going to spend most of the time in your assigned buttons and your managed performance for fine-tuning it let's go back to the keyboard like i was telling you that before with the the macro uh for here you see i'm just going to record hit the mr for record and g2 just an example and um i'll do something for you guys real quick let's just try like saying hey i'll show it up i'll show you how it's done i guess i don't know attention hey right there and uh i recorded it i stopped recording so i'm going to pull up uh well chrome and i'll show you how it works like i said mr whatever key and just type it in and hit mr when you're done recording again so i hit a g2 so i'll go up g2 and there it goes it types in hey for you and you know it's pretty simple that's all you really need to do to record a macro i don't really use them but uh if you're into that kind of stuff with mmos it's very simple to do and uh yeah and again here i'll just show you the other colors and stuff while i'm cycling through the software so you can see what it looks like yeah your green purple blue red pinkish kinda like yellowish and like i said there's a 16.8 million colors you can do so you can find one you like okay if i had to pick one flaw about this mouse it would be the choice of the button layout and it's it's a pretty minor thing for some people but it might be a big issue for people with smaller hands i have pretty normal sized hands and i have an issue when i'm playing because i don't like putting my palm on this and then having to play like this because then my fingers are going to overlap the mouse as you can see by a few inches i mean not two inches a few maybe like an inch or so it's uncomfortable playing like this i don't think people play like that at all but in order for me to access the sniper button comfortably that's how i'd have to have my hand laid out i play like a normal person where you rest your thumb on the thumb grip right here and you have your fingers on the top of the mouse and if you see the this is about and half an inch in front of my thumb and it's just really uncomfortable and awkward to have to readjust during gameplay just to access this button with that being said i would have also liked to seen these pushed back as well to compensate having the forward button here and the back button right here so that way i can maybe rest my thumb on the sniper button and just have front and back right at at the rotation of my thumb here i'll thank everybody for checking it out i hope you enjoyed the review and it was kind of up in the air i ran into a lot of problems while editing this but uh yeah that's my review of the corsair raptor k40 keyboard and the vengeance m65 mouse if you enjoy the music my friends band is in the description below give them a check they're pretty awesome they i put some of their songs in the back
