Hands-on - Nomad Case for iPhone X + Giveaway [9to5Mac]

**Nomad Cases Review: A Closer Look at Four Different Options**

As we dive into the world of protective cases, Nomad is a brand that stands out for its high-quality and stylish options. In this review, we'll take a closer look at four different Nomad cases designed specifically for the iPhone 10.

**The Rugged Case: A Simple yet Effective Option**

Our first case to examine is the rugged case from Nomad. As expected, it features a leather exterior with a bumper that surrounds the phone, providing additional protection against drops and scratches. The microfiber material inside adds an extra layer of cushioning, making this case a great option for those who want a no-frills, straightforward protective solution. However, one thing to note is that the click response on the buttons can be a bit subpar. The volume buttons, side button, and all other interactive elements don't quite respond as crisply as we'd like. Despite this minor drawback, the rugged case remains an excellent choice for those looking for a simple, reliable option.

**The Card Case: A Convenient Option with Some Drawbacks**

Next up is the card case from Nomad, which shares many similarities with its rugged counterpart but introduces a new feature: two slots on the back to house up to four credit cards or debit cards. This adds a convenient touch for those who want to be able to carry multiple payment methods with them. However, we found that trying to fit all four cards at once was quite tricky, and even with just three cards in place, it took some time to get used to inserting and removing them without any issues. We also noticed that the leather takes some time to break in, so be patient when first using this case. Overall, while not perfect, the card case is a great option for those who want to stay organized on-the-go.

**The Leather Folio: A Sophisticated Option with a Touch of Luxury**

The leather folio from Nomad is a true standout among its peers. The rich, high-quality leather is sourced from Chicago's finest suppliers, and the result is a case that exudes sophistication and style. Notably, this case features cutouts for all ports and buttons on the phone, allowing you to interact with your device as usual. We also appreciate the fact that the folio can accommodate up to six cards at once – it's clear that Nomad has thoughtfully designed this case to meet the needs of those who want a premium protective solution.

However, one potential drawback is that the leather takes some time to break in. As we discovered during our testing, the initial stiffness of the material makes it slightly difficult to insert and remove cards from their respective slots. But with use, the leather will gradually soften and become more pliable – so be patient! Overall, the leather folio is a must-have for anyone looking for a premium case that offers both style and functionality.

**The Clara Folio: A Modern Twist on the Classic Design**

Last but not least, we have the Clara folio from Nomad. This case shares many similarities with its leather counterpart but introduces some key differences. Most notably, it features a clear plastic back that gives the case a sleek, modern look. We appreciate the frosted edges of this case, which add a touch of sophistication to an otherwise minimalist design. The buttons on this case also respond exceptionally well, making them easy to click and interact with.

One potential drawback to consider is the use of plastic in this case – while it does make the case feel slightly less substantial than its leather counterpart, we do appreciate the added durability that comes from using a more rigid material. Additionally, as with any plastic case, there's a risk of scuffs and scratches if not handled carefully. However, after some time, the clear folio does develop a lovely patina – it's almost like it's learning to accept its imperfections! All in all, we think the Clara folio is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a modern take on the classic design.

**Conclusion: Which Case Reigns Supreme?**

Each of these Nomad cases has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. The rugged case provides a no-frills solution at an affordable price point, while the card case offers convenience and organization. The leather folio is a premium option that exudes style and sophistication, but requires some patience to break in. Finally, the Clara folio is a modern twist on the classic design, with a sleek look and easy-to-click buttons.

Ultimately, the choice between these cases will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you're looking for a reliable, straightforward option, the rugged case may be the way to go. But if you want a more premium solution that offers both style and functionality, one of the leather or Clara folios might be a better fit.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhands-on with the Nomad cases for the iPhone 10 let's check it out how's it going folks this is Jeff Benjamin with nine-to-five Mac I have in my hands the first of quite a few different Nomad cases we're going to look at today this first one is the simplest case that we're going to look at today it is the rugged case of course it has that leather exterior with the bumper that goes all the way around and that sort of microfiber material inside but like all Nomad cases the big draw is the horror wing leather one thing that I will mention though is that the click response isn't very good on any of the buttons so the volume buttons the side button the click response just isn't great something to keep in mind but it is easy to remove it has all your cutouts and everything it's a simple case but it does the job the next case is the card case from Nomad and it's basically like the rugged case except for one key difference and of course you see that right off the bat you have a couple of slots on the back of the case to house up to four different credit cards or debit cards whatever the case may be you can do that but everything else is pretty much the same as the rugged case it is a little bit thicker obviously to accommodate those card slots and after trying it I have to say that I don't recommend putting four cards in at the same time two cards and max because it gets really really tight even with three cards like I have here it's comfortable to hold no problem holding it but inserting and removing the cards at least until the leather is broken in is a little bit difficult so it may just need time to break in the leather you can see it's already starting to do so but at least initially it becomes really really difficult to add and remove cards when using multiple cards in the same slot and you can see how difficult it is again it will probably help once the case is broken in now switching over to the leather folio this is one I really was anticipating trying out because I've been using Apple's own iPhone 10 leather folio and I loved it so I was anticipating trying this out from Nomad it is the leather folio it can accommodate what they say up to six cards at once you can see all that leather that whoring leather from Chicago really really great leather bricks in beautifully and just a reminder if you using a nomad case that's the reason you want to use it because of that leather that's just great now the leather folio is interesting because it has cutouts for all the ports and buttons so you actually are able to interact with the buttons on the phone itself which is really nice now I wanted to see how the folio cover closed and how it compared with the iPhone 10 leather folio which as you can see closes very easily so I wanted to be reasonable so I only put three cards in the leather folio but the bottom line is that you're gonna have to give this thing time to break in it's just gonna need time to break in that leather because it's a little bit on the stiff side so just keep that in mind now the Clara folio is obviously gonna share some similarities with the leather folio but there are some definite differences here obviously you have the clear plastic back which is kind of nice it gives it a modern look so you have the leather on front and then that clear plastic on the back now keep in mind that plastic has a tendency to kind of get scarred up and scratched up so just keep that in mind it's gonna gain some character if you will over time but I liked it I loved the frosted edges I liked the fact that those buttons are super easy to click great click responds you can even click through the leather itself just like that I have to say I'm a fan of the clear folio it seems slightly less bulky and it has a more modern look to it you'd see not as much bulk but it's obviously still going to take some time to break in that leather alright in the last case on the docket today is our clear case and it shares some similarities with the leather folio and that it combines that contemporary and traditional look of the plastic and the leather in one single case and you know what I think I like it I think this is probably my favorite of all the Nomad cases it's super lightweight it has that very modern-looking design I love those frosted edges looks really cool now keep in mind that it does use that plastic so that plastic has a tendency to scar up a little bit but that just comes with the territory Griet click responds as well so ladies and gentlemen that has been a look at several Nomad cases for the iPhone 10 which one is your favorite let me know down below in the comment section and you know what I'm gonna give all these cases away to one winner just
