I recently installed iOS 12.1 point 2 beta one on my daily driver iPhone and I'm excited to share my first impressions with you guys. As soon as I booted up the device, I started going through all the settings menus, applications, and features to see if anything had changed compared to iOS 12.1 point 1. I have to say, there's not a lot of new features or outward-facing changes in this update at least not in the first beta. However, as Apple always says, "Nothing is left behind," and I'm sure that there are some bug fixes and security enhancements hidden beneath the surface.
I've been using my iPhone 10 R for daily tasks, but since it's no longer available for purchase, I decided to switch to my iPhone 10 S as a temporary solution. But after installing iOS 12.1 point 2 beta one on my daily driver, I'm excited to put it through its paces and see how it performs in real-world scenarios. One thing that caught my attention is the fact that the carrier and modem versions have been updated in iOS 12.1 point 1, which may fix some of the LTE issues that some users were experiencing on iOS 12.1 point 1.
In terms of performance, I've only been using it for about thirty minutes now, but I did run a Geekbench test to see how it stacks up against iOS 12.1 point 1. The results are as follows: forty-seven sixty-four single core and eleven-fifty-three three multi-core score on the first beta. As expected, the battery life has improved since I've been using it for longer periods of time. For example, over the last ten days, I was averaging about six hours total screen-on plus screen-off time, but since I've been home, that number has increased to seven and a half hours.
Now, as I mentioned earlier, one thing that might interest you guys is the performance boost that iOS 12.1 point 2 may bring compared to iOS 12.1 point 1. As someone who's been using my iPhone for quite some time, I can confidently say that there isn't a huge difference in terms of performance between the two versions. The animations are similar, and the overall speed seems the same as well.
However, I do expect iOS 12.1 point 2 to improve upon some of the issues that were present on iOS 12.1 point 1. Perhaps there will be minor bug fixes or stability improvements that will make the device more reliable and user-friendly. We'll have to wait and see how it holds up over time, but I'm confident that Apple has made significant strides in this regard.
In any case, I do want to let you guys know that if anybody had LTE issues on iOS 12.1 point 1, the carrier and modem versions have been updated in iOS 12.1 point 2 beta one. So, it's possible that those issues may be fixed with this new update.
That's pretty much all I have for now. As a follow-up to this video, I'll be making another video later on down the road probably next week when the second beta gets released. At that point, I'll let you guys know how iOS 12.1 point 2 has been performing for me so far and whether or not there are any significant changes from the first beta. Until then, make sure to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe for more updates on iOS beta releases and other tech-related news and reviews.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is Brandon and today Apple released iOS 12.1 point to beta one to register developers just five days after releasing the public version of twelve point one point one and if you guys missed my review video on iOS twelve point one point one definitely check that out it's up in the cards and down in the description below but with that update we saw some changes to the FaceTime UI and we just got a lot of other small enhancements but with iOS 12 point one point two which got released today the first beta at least it's looking like we may only see minor bug fixes and basically some behind the scenes enhancements so we'll touch on that in a minute but let's take a look at the size of this update you can see right there it came in at three hundred and thirty five point eight megabytes on my iPhone 10s max I did come from the third beta of iOS twelve point one point one so of course that update will be bigger it'll be probably over two gigabytes if you are coming from a public release of iOS so just expect that and if you go into our settings general about and take a look at the build number you can see there it's sixteen d50 two for a so quite a long build number so it wouldn't be surprising to see multiple betas in this cycle of twelve point one point two although I would not expect too many betas because again it is a point of a point update and twelve point one point one really didn't fix much so I can't imagine twelve point one point two is gonna fix very much either so as far as the changes and features in iOS twelve point one point two I have not been able to find anything yet I've had this installed for about thirty minutes now I went through everything all the settings menu all the applications everything and I compared it to twelve point one point one and nothing was different so don't expect any kind of outward facing features or changes in this update at least not the first beta but there probably are a lot of bug fixes in the back end you probably have some security enhancements just some minor fixes on the back end that I have not discovered yet so we will have to wait and see I will be making a follow-up video as well especially since this is on my daily driver I did install this update on my daily driver since I did used to use the iPhone 10 s for that but of course I get rid of that for the iPhone 10 R so I'm gonna be using my daily driver now to test out these beta so I'll be able to give you guys a lot more accurate insight as to the battery life after using it you know day in and day out I did decide to go ahead and run a geek bench test I don't normally do these but I did run a geek bench test here on twelve point one point two beta one and you can see we got a forty seven sixty-four single core and an 11 4 3 3 multi-core score here on the first beta so I will be testing the future betas as well once again I don't normally do these Geekbench tests just because I don't really prove anything but I figure that'd be something that some of you guys may want to see so you can see the scores there again I will touch on those I'm gonna rerun those tests in the future on future versions to see how they stack up against this first beta of twelve point one point two and I do just want to say that if anybody had LTE issues on twelve point one point one the carrier and the modem versions have been updated in twelve point one points to beta one so if you did have any LTE issues those may be fixed with this new update now as far as the battery goes I was not getting the best battery life on iOS twelve point one point one I was actually surprised that I think I was getting better battery life on twelve point 0.01 so if you go into here and go to my battery settings let's go to battery you can see here over the last ten days I'm only averaging about six hours total a screen on + screen off time which is not great I mean I have been out and about I've been out of town and everything so I have been using my phone a little bit more than normal but still that's not great battery life now over the last 24 hours it's been a lot better since I have been home you can see there I'm getting about seven and a half hours of screen on plus screen off time combined so I will keep you guys updated on the battery life and let you know if it is better than twelve point one point one and maybe if the second bit is better than the first beta I'll be sure to let you guys know updates on the battery life as we progress through these versions now as far as the performance goes I am expecting twelve point one point two to kind of polish up what iOS twelve point one point one got wrong so maybe some bugs or maybe some stability issues I would expect twelve point one point two to be you know to give you a minor performance boost now I have not noticed anything the animation seen this was the same just the overall speed seems the exact same as twelve point one point one but again I've only been you know thirty to forty minutes into this so I will let you know how it is later on down the road now with that being said don't expect a major bump in performance you know if you're coming from twelve point one point one now I would expect maybe a bigger performance jump if you're coming from like twelve point zero or twelve point Oh point one it's a twelve point one point two but from twelve point one point one to twelve point one point two I would not expect too big of a jump and either battery or performance but anyways guys that's pretty much it for this video I just wanted to let you guys know and inform you that twelve point one point two beta one has in fact been released again not really much changed much all gonna be on the back end you know maybe some performance improvements as well we'll see I will be making a follow-up video later on down the road probably next week when the second beta gets released I'll let you
