DIY Black Hole Table (infinity mirror + galaxy resin!)

**A Galactic Infinity Mirror: A Collaboration of Light and Art**

In this latest installment of Evan and Katelyn's creative journey, the duo embarked on a project that would push the boundaries of light and art. Their goal was to create an infinity mirror that would transport viewers into a galaxy of wonder. With a combination of electronics, programming, and artistic vision, they set out to craft a truly unique experience.

As the project began, Evan and Katelyn started with the basics - selecting the perfect LED lights for their creation. They opted for dense, tightly-clustered lights that would create an otherworldly effect. The pair also chose a specific sequence of colors, programmed with a pulsing purple light to create a mesmerizing effect. This was not just any ordinary LED display, but a carefully crafted sequence designed to evoke the mysteries of space.

With their electronics and programming in place, it was time to bring the infinity mirror to life. Evan and Katelyn carefully installed the lights into the infinity table, ensuring that every detail was precise and accurate. As they worked, they couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation - what would their creation look like when complete?

Finally, the moment of truth arrived. With most LEDs, one might expect a generic rainbow effect, but Evan and Katelyn had something more in store. As they flipped the switch, a warm glow filled the room, and the infinity mirror came alive. The pulsing light seemed to warp and bend, creating an optical illusion that defied the laws of physics.

The pair couldn't contain their excitement as they watched their creation come to life. "It fits!" Evan exclaimed, as if he had been expecting nothing but perfection from the start. Katelyn laughed in agreement, her eyes shining with delight. The infinity mirror was not just a piece of art - it was an experience.

As they continued to explore the limits of their creation, Evan and Katelyn discovered that the infinity mirror's effects were more pronounced when viewed from different angles. "Looking straight down is so interesting," Katelyn observed, as the light lines seemed to converge in a way that defied gravity. "But then as you walk around, it warps in different ways." The pair laughed in agreement, marveling at the complexity and beauty of their creation.

The final result was nothing short of stunning - a masterpiece of light and art that seemed to transport viewers into another world. Evan and Katelyn beamed with pride, knowing that their hard work had paid off. As they gazed upon their creation, they couldn't help but wonder what the future held for their next project.

**Supurrvisors' Approval**

As if on cue, a computer voice chimed in, "Is bright." The pair laughed, delighted by the unexpected interaction with their digital companion. Evan and Katelyn had indeed sought approval from the Supurrvisors - an artificial intelligence system that watched over their creative endeavors.

The conversation continued, with the computer expressing its admiration for the duo's work. "Do you approve?" it asked, its tone warm and appreciative. Katelyn smiled, knowing that her partner was thrilled to have received such approval from their digital friend.

With the Supurrvisors' seal of approval in hand, Evan and Katelyn celebrated their success with a well-deserved break. As they sat back to admire their creation, they couldn't help but wonder what other creative adventures lay ahead for them.

**Eating Hot Sauce**

In a surprise twist, the duo decided to take on a new challenge - playing a rogue-like game where every death would come with a price: eating hot sauce. The rules were simple - every time they died, they'd increase the amount of hot sauce they consumed, until it became too much for their taste buds.

As they embarked on this culinary adventure, Evan and Katelyn couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. "You know, if you want to make your own website, no," Evan quipped, as the camera panned out to show their gaming setup.

Katelyn chuckled in agreement, adding her own commentary to the mix. The conversation was lighthearted and playful, with both partners joking about the challenges of playing a rogue-like game while dealing with the consequences of eating hot sauce.

As they continued to play, their laughter filled the room, accompanied by the sounds of hot sauce being devoured. It was clear that Evan and Katelyn had found a new way to poke fun at themselves - a testament to their creative energy and sense of humor.

**Conclusion**

In the world of art and technology, Evan and Katelyn have proven themselves to be true innovators. With each project they undertake, they push the boundaries of what is possible, creating unique and captivating experiences for all who witness them.

As we conclude this article on their latest creation - a galactic infinity mirror - it's clear that the duo has once again outdone themselves. Their collaboration of light and art has resulted in something truly magical, an experience that will leave viewers spellbound and wondering what other secrets lie within its digital realm.

With their next project already on the horizon, Evan and Katelyn continue to inspire us with their creativity and passion for innovation. Will they create a universe within a sphere or explore new territories of light and art? One thing is certain - we can't wait to find out!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en(electronic space beep)Someone is trying totamper with the black hole.(keyboard typing)But that willdestroy the planet.Would it not?We should be fine as long asthey know what they're doing.KATELYN: This video isbrought to you by Squarespace. The all in one platformfor all your website needs.(static)Hey guys we're Evan and Katelynand today we'regoing to be makinga galaxy black hole table.(laughing)With resin, too.I thought you were gonna saygalaxy black hole resin table.Resin table.I don't know if you guysknow it but I love space,I love galaxies, thisis the very first thing, the very first giftthat I made Katelyn.Eight years ago!(crowd awes)We weren't even dating then.Nope.That's crazy. And I think some of my veryfirst paintings ever were of--Galaxy type stuff.Galaxy type stuff. This is like this, you know. This is like galaxypatterns, keep going.Very clearly space.Planets.Lots of planets, lots ofspace, I just love artof that type.We came up with thisidea awhile back to doa galaxy table. And we didn't reallyknow what it was gonna beuntil the idea of makingit a black hole galaxytable and embedding an infinitymirror came into being. Then it was just oneof those ideas that, once it entered ourheads, it had to be done.(imitates beeping)That's what the lightsdoing inside of it.Oh, yeah.I was like, lasers? So it should look like atunnel going through spaceand time which I guess is kindof more of like a wormhole. But, black hole tablehad a better ring to it.Are you googling picturesof wormholes right now?You know, where it'slike you go into,um, like, space pathways.(laughing)You know, space pathways.Wormhole table (laughing).Everything in this projectis gonna be built aroundthe infinity mirrorliterally at the center.Making an infinitymirror is pretty easyand it's really satisfying. All you have to do is put anLED strip between a full mirrorand a partiallytransparent mirror. The full mirror willreflect all light backand this lets a littlebit of light out each timeit bounces back and forth. So what you end up withis this really crazyeffect of light seemingto go on forever, and it fades a little bitevery time it reflectsback and forth. For the table itself,it's not just a flat slab.We need it to containthat infinity mirrorand it's gonna have to bea couple different levels. So, to cut those slightlymore complex shapes,we are going to cutthem on our X-CARVE CNC.And then for the resin tabletop,we're gonna do galaxy resin.Which, I know we've had acouple attempts at before.Ready to go with agalaxy themed pour.I'm gonna make agalaxy knife Katelyn.I'm gonna use mostof this green up.KATELYN: Kinda lookslike Mardi Gras.Dang it, I'm makinga Mardi Gras blade. But we have some newtechniques in mind involvingacrylic that I'mvery excited to try.And to top it all off, well I guess tobottom it all off--(crowd applause)We need some legs. We're just gonna stealsome from (laughs)a table that we foundat a local store, because they're perfect.I don't really knowhow we could make themany better ourselves. That's cheaper than buyingyour own legs online, honestly.Yeah.What are we, a DIY channel? And then hopefully it willlook as cool as this mock-upwe made does.Because we have high hopes. And I don't wantthem to be crushed.(both laughing)No, we got this, we got this.KATELYN: You guys may know wehave what we affectionatelycall our army of robots. And while you could technicallydo this with a jigsaw, sometimes we just want thepieces to create themselves.(orchestral music)Phew, that wasn't too bad.Can you imagine if thestop motion animation hadtaken us all day longand it was 11PM at night?(both laughing)But, anyways, on anot related note,it is time to try outour new toy, I mean tool. That this projectcompletely justifies.Okay--(tool whines)I was gonna explain like whatit is and what we're doing.Oh, okay.I just wanna go.So you may notice that weare using MDF and not wood, and that's 'cause all ofthis is gonna get covered inpaint and resin later anyway. But, we do have some unfinished, kinda rough looking edges. So what we're gonna do withthe new tool is round overthese edges which will cleanit up and give it a littlebit of a slightlyrounded corner.Yeah, it's gonna look classy. It's gonna look real classy.(upbeat electronic music)Whee! So we read online thatgluing MDF panels togethercan be a little trickybecause it's more absorbentso it could like (imitatesslurp) slurp up the gluebefore you get a chance toglue the panels together. So we're just gonna try towork quickly and swiftly, and with grace.Did you just drip?I just dripped.(laughs)With grace!Okay, so this is thepiece that's gonna allowfor our electronics to havesome space on the undersideof the table. That's why we have thisrecessed area in here. And then this piece willattach to here and allowus to seat it perfectlyinto the little recessedarea of those legs.Oh, that looks so cool. You can just likelift the whole thing.Yup.(mechanical whirs)Gracefully.Grace.Kinda looks like analien spacecraft.I was just about tosay the same thing! It looks like a spacecraft!Alrighty, so, let's let it dry.See you guys in the morning.Hip, hop, hop, hop, hop, hop, hop, hop.Time to de-clamp.Nice!(upbeat string music)All right, so one thingwe're gonna do to helpthe resin pour, we'regonna paint the base black. And then we're gonna addsome stars on top of it.So then the resin doesn'thave to do as muchall by itself.I think that'll give itsome depth 'cause you'llkind of maybe see throughto it in some places.Yeah.Do you want the big brushor can I get the big brush? No, you go for it.Oh, yes.I was gonna not help anddo camerawork anyway, so.Okay cool. That's satisfying (laughing). It's abstract art.Did I do too much?Yeah, maybe. That's a lot of paint.Looks like a record. It's so thick!I got a little bit ambitious.I'm just gonna.(silly piano music)There. All right, so it's timeto paint the stars. We have a few tests set up.Do you want gloves?Oh yeah.(laughs)I guess. You just kinda flick the brush, and it sprays outa little spatter.EVAN: But if youget too much paint, then you fling globs.Oh yeah, yeah.Oh yeah, look at that.KATELYN: So if you kindapick up extra painton your thumb, like that,it gives you morecontrol than just dippingthe whole toothbrush in.Oh that looks so cool. You ready to do iton the real one?I'm ready.I feel ready.EVAN: Sorry, holding you withone hand was really hard.I was just like reallyclose up on your face.Ready.Oh.Try not to get it on myEvan and Katelyn hoodie!EVAN: Nice.Or my Evan and Katelyn pants!EVAN: Nice.(laughs)I like how you're curvingit around the black hole.Nice.KATELYN: Thanks.(upbeat piano music)All right. You wanna do the thing?Oh.Resin time.Resin time.Do, do, do, do resin time.Do, do, do, do resin time.I don't know if we're gonnahave to do that every timebut like it almostfeels like we should. At first I thoughtthat I misread you,'cause the first resin timeyou didn't do anything, and I was like uh oh.He's talking abouta different thing? No, no, it's resin time.KATELYN: We're settingup for the resin pour. And somebody snuck in.COMPUTER: Am ninja.KATELYN: Hey!COMPUTER: Later nerds.KATELYN: You double gloving?Oh, you know it.KATELYN: Double glove!(bright orchestral music)I'm gonna go ahead andstart off with a littlebit of clear.KATELYN: To like prime it?EVAN: To prime it.So then when wepour the colors on,it'll flow better. And you can start mixing colors.KATELYN: Oh, okay.Just 'cause you're a littlemore reserved when it comesto mixing colors.KATELYN: So this is a littlebit of a different pourthen we've done in the pastbecause we're relying on thebackground with the starsto be part of the end art.So this is a little bitmore of a layered approach. So we're going with asubtle color palate.A lot of likeinterference colorswhich basically don't showup much until the lighthits them right.KATELYN: We also want totry kind of like maybeconcentrating more coloraround the center ofthe black hole.Yeah, I mean, 'cause we'vegotten our first pictureof a black hole now.And that's kind ofwhat it looks like, so.Yes, we're gonna mimicthat photo exactly. All five pixels of it.(both laughing)Hmm, you know what we didn't do?What?EVAN: We didn't level it.Oh. (sighes)EVAN: But we can't reallyput a level on there.Oh yeah.Okay, well we have to babysitthis thing and complainabout it being un-levelthe whole time.Okay are we ready?EVAN: Ready.Woo boy.Woo boy!I'm kind of nervous, just'cause this is different.EVAN: Yup.I don't really know howthe interference colorsare gonna look on the black.I'm gonna kind offollow the path of starsthat we did earlier.Woo.But then like also--EVAN: I think I'm justblocking the main camerawith this camera.Well, you know.It looks so differentover the black.EVAN: Right, it showsup so much more.Yeah, I'm gonna haveto like spread it outa decent amount.Oh, wow look at that.Right, it's like so vivid.EVAN: Whoa, so vivid. And this isn't just theinterference whites.Yeah.EVAN: What are the fullcolors gonna look like?I have no idea.EVAN: I like what's happening.Should I add any glitters in?KATELYN: You can startadding some glitters.EVAN: Yeah.KATELYN: This is likea little more vividthan I was expecting.EVAN: I know.I thought it wouldbe more subtle. And it's kind of likenot subtle at all.I think I want toadd more black.EVAN: Okay here, here's black blue.KATELYN: Yeah, yeah, yeah.I'm gonna try adding in justlike a little bit of theinterference yellow, just like a hair.Oh, Katelyn I'mblowing outwards here.Woo, cool things, cool things. That's looking really cool.Woo, oh, yeah!Oh my gosh.I'm glad it's kinda comingtogether because I'll admit, when we first poured thetwo interference colors,I was like ah!Ah!(laughs)I know that look. It's a look of regrettingthat you didn't double glove.(upbeat orchestral music)So I detected whichway it's tilting. We lost the gold on one side. The game you play whenyou don't level it first.(bright orchestral music)All right, well I think thatwe'll just babysit this, and we'll see ya tomorrow.Do you like it?I don't dislike it.It's like more than I thought.I think it's pretty good.Yeah, it's a little bit--I had three gloves on.(both laughing)(electronic beeps)I'm gonna order somespace dust pigment.(phone beeps)Thank you for callingSpace Dust R Us.Hey, can I place an order? Why are you calling?Don't you know our websitehas built in e-commerce,because we built itwith Squarespace?Oh, um.With Squarespace, the numberof products we can sellis vast and limitless.Okay, but--And the websiteworks on mobile too.You can even book classeswith us via our website, all because Squarespace. Can I just uh--If you want to makeyour own website,go to Squarespace.comfor a free trial, and when you're readyto pull the trigger,go tosquarespace.com/EvanAndKatelynfor 10% offyour first purchase.Did you order the space dust?Uh.(suspenseful electronic music)Are you guys ready to see it?Ah!It looks so cool! It's like a majesticspace donut.EVAN: I'm glad thatthe whole thing didn'tjust slide off.And you can still see alittle bit of the starson the under layer. And a little bit over here.Though, I think maybe doinganother layer of acrylic starsbefore we do thefinal clear coat. One interesting thing that wenoticed as you go to the top,you see a lot more ofthe color and the detail.Yeah, but next up is addingthis semi-opaque mirror. To the very center, whichwe're gonna do on our CNC.Which should be pretty fast.(speedy electronic music)Whoa! That was so fast.So fast. Now it's time toglue this in placeright here in the center sothat we can do another resinpour and it won't leak.It won't leak.Yeah, well and the reasonwe're doing one final resinpour is to kind ofunify it all together.Technically you probablydon't have to but I thinkit'll fuse the edges andgive us one final round overon our sides, which Ithink will look nice.Yeah.(upbeat electronic music)All right, so we are gettingready to do the clear resinpour and we realized that weforgot to do the acrylic stars. The stars.Yeah, it woulda made a lotmore sense to do that before weadded the mirror inbecause we don't want starsin the infinity mirror. But thankfully, I totallydidn't accidentallycut a wrong-sized circleearlier that happens to bethe perfect fit tocover up the mirror. So I think we're good to go.Yeah, totally on purpose, yes.I need more.(upbeat electronic music)Woo, it is time.Yeah, now time for theclear pour, for real. That was me.Mine are more farty.Yeah.It's like so much morethan you would think. You got a good satisfying angle?EVAN: I think so.Ohh.Ohh.Oh we didn't level it.Should we level it?Uh.We should level it.Yeah.I think we just needa big sign somewhere, that says did you level it?Like right in frontof the camera.Oh, you have the big one. It's more accurate.Good enough.Cool.Yay.We shall proceed.I'm just gonna pour in themiddle and let it overflow.EVAN: Oh my gosh.KATELYN: That's all of it.My calculationswere somehow wrong.I just guestimated aquarter inch depth, but, must have been deeper.Oh, you didn't measure it?No.Let's try this again.Oh.KATELYN: Hopefullythis is enough.EVAN: It should be enough.Really? This is more than we mixedup for the initial go.We're just gonna popsome these bubbles.Third bucket of resin.I'm gonna pour likeright up to the edge. And hopefully it'll justgo over on it's own.All the layers arecoming together. You should get like a,get like really close upsatisfying shot of mepouring right along the edge.(funky jazz music)EVAN: All right I'm gonnabrush it as it flows over.KATELYN: Yeah.Kinda help disburse.Oh yeah.(air bubbles popping)Oh it's looking so good, oh.It looks so much better. And now our starsthat we had on top, they have like depth 'causeyou can see the first layerand then the second layer.EVAN: Oh, yeah, you totallycan see the two layers.Ooo, it's looking so good.Okay.Kinda makes you just wantto do more, and more, and more, and more layers. But that'd be bad.It is kind of tempting.Nobody got time for that.Well I guess we'll justkeep an eye on drips,we'll let this cure. And then we will come backand do the infinity mirror. That's kind of--(torch blowing)(bright flute music)EVAN: Uh oh.Uh oh, what do you mean uh oh?(somber piano music)EVAN: Did it get too hot?KATELYN: Whoa, whoa, whoa, no, no, no.What's happening?EVAN: I think it got too hotand it's warping the acrylic.Oh no.EVAN: Is it, did itbulge up or bulge down?KATELYN: I can't tell.I think it's bulgingup in the middle.EVAN: That's weird.Well.It is what it is.I don't think there'sanything we can do now.(somber piano music)Okay, so, whoa! So, there's not too much wecan do about the warping.No.We're just gonna tryto pour more on top.And hope that it looks okay. The warping actuallylike messed up the smoothsurface finish thatwe were going for.The mirror is totally warped. We need to do another pourto get it level again. But I'm actually, can I pour?Oh yeah, sorry.I'm actually thinking of that, you know, this might end upbeing a good thing.KATELYN: Really?'Cause it lookslike even stranger. It looks even likeyou know more like,it looks kinda cool.KATELYN: But what if ourinfinity mirror doesn'tlook like an infinity mirror?I don't know what if it likeswarps it into a weird shape?Oh my gosh, did Imix not enough again? We've been through this.(bright transition music)Okay.(claps hands)So we did the clearcoat to try to save it.EVAN: And I actuallythink it might be better.KATELYN: I thinkit might be better. This might be even cooler. If it doesn't dosomething really weird. It already looks like aweird optical illusion, like there's a bubblecoming up from the middle. So, I guess thatworks in our favor.(both laughing)All right, so with mostLEDs, you can get this, oh!No, not that one. That's the fancy one.KATELYN: Should we start over? No.So with most LEDs, you canget kind of like a genericrainbow effect, whichlooks pretty good, but that's not what I wasgoing for for this project.I wanted a specific sequence.I wanted pulsing purple light.Because that seemedlike a black hole to mefor some reason. So that's what Iprogrammed with this littlecircuit board right here.I'll have links toall the details below. The code, all the electronics, and these really coolsuper dense LED lights.KATELYN: I know!I like how tightlyclustered those are.But I think it's timeto install this intothe infinity mirror anddo final montage mode.(upbeat electronic music)Okay.KATELYN: Oh!EVAN: Oh!(upbeat electronic music)Yay, it fits! Not that I had any doubts. No, no, no, no.(upbeat electronic music)Okay. So, we have not lookedat it turned on yet.You ready?(drum roll)Yes.Whoa!Oh my gosh!Oh, oh, oh it does warpit in a really cool way!So cool!Agh!It looks like it goes oneven farther than I expected.EVAN: Oh my gosh, look at that guys.KATELYN: Whoa!(funky space music)Looking straight downis so interesting. It like lines up and thewarping doesn't matter much. But as you walk around.EVAN: But then asyou walk around,it warps in different ways.Oh, that's so cool.Oh, it's so funky I love it!EVAN: I need to like turndown the brightness of this,so I can like appreciate.I mean I know this was likewhat an infinity mirroris supposed to do butseeing it in this setting, like with the galaxyresin really gives itlike a purpose.EVAN: It tells a story! It tells a story!(funky space music)(both laughing)Man.I would say this was worth it.This was a lot of work. But this is like literallyexactly what I hoped for.EVAN: Yeah.Like everything together too.The gold legs, the galaxy resin, the infinity table, likethis is what I mocked upin hopes of having.I don't know whetherI should film it,or look at it.The pulsing light's really cool.Oh thank you.You did a good job.Thank you.Do we want to putit into party mode?Yeah, this is party mode.Ah, this is woo!EVAN: I can't wait to likeput our coffee cups likeright in the middleof the infinity table.'Cause it looks like youshouldn't be able to.EVAN: Da, da, da, da!Oh, we did it.We did it.It's so cool.Get the Supurrvisors approval. She what she thinks.KATELYN: In her throne. What do ya think?KATELYN: What do youthink about that?COMPUTER: Is bright.Oh my goodness.Joobie look!Do you approve?COMPUTER: Am bored.I kinda worried we'dhave to start over. No, no, no, no, no.Well thank you guysfor watching usmake this creation. And, if you wantto see more videos,we also have a gamingchannel where we post liketwice a week.Yeah.So, Evan and Katelyn Gaming. So check that out on YouTube. Thanks for watching, andwe'll see you next time.Bye!Oh hello everybody. We're playing thisrogue-like game.In which you die a lot.And every time we die,we're gonna be eating hot sauce. And every time we die,we're also gonna beincreasing the amount ofhot sauce we're eating. So it's like hot ones, but we're gonna put it onchips because we don'thave chicken wings.(laughing)That's so much Tabasco!(both laughing)You know, if you want tomake your own website, no.(laughing)I just love it!No, no, no, no, oh no.(laughing)I'm so close, it's justso funny, I'm just like.\n"
