The Ultimate Driving Experience: A Review of the Porsche 997 Daily Guard

When it comes to driving enthusiasts, few cars are as revered as the Porsche 997. With its sleek design, powerful engine, and precise handling, the 997 is a car that's hard to resist. But what makes this particular model stand out from the rest? In this article, we'll take a closer look at the Porsche 997 Daily Guard, a car that's been carefully crafted to deliver an unparalleled driving experience.

For starters, let's talk about the weight of the car. At 55 kilograms more than the standard 997, the Daily Guard may seem like an added burden, but trust us, it's worth it. The extra weight actually helps to improve the car's balance and stability, making it a joy to drive on twisty roads or in slippery winter conditions. And with its four-wheel drive system, you can be confident that the 997 will handle even the toughest terrain.

But what really sets the Daily Guard apart is its suspension. Oh boy, is this car communicative! The suspension is tuned to perfection, providing a ride that's both smooth and responsive. You'll feel every bump and vibration, but in a good way – it's like the car is talking to you, telling you exactly where it's going and what it's doing. And with its hydraulic power steering, you'll have all the assistance you need when navigating tight corners or steep hills.

Of course, no Porsche would be complete without its iconic sound. And let me tell you, the Daily Guard delivers in spades. The exhaust note is deep and throaty, like a growl that's both menacing and seductive. It's music to your ears, and it adds an extra layer of excitement to every drive. Whether you're cruising down the highway or carving up twisties, this car will get your heart racing with its rich, rumbling sound.

But what really gets us excited is the Daily Guard's manual gearbox. Ah, that gearbox! It's like a symphony of gears and shifting, a beautifully orchestrated dance of speed and control. The clutch pedal feels heavy and deliberate, just the way we like it – firm but not unforgiving. And with its manual transmission, you'll be able to feel every gear change, every shift and every movement. It's an experience unlike any other car on the market.

Now, we know what you're thinking: "Is this car really worth all the fuss?" The answer is a resounding yes. With 355 horsepower at your disposal, this car can accelerate like a dream. And with its manual transmission and perfect balance, you'll feel every ounce of power as you carve up the road. But it's not just about raw speed – it's about the experience. This car will take you on a journey that's equal parts exhilarating and relaxing.

Of course, one thing that sets the Daily Guard apart from its 997 brethren is its design. Oh boy, does this car look stunning! The wider body gives it a more aggressive stance, while the rear spoiler adds an extra touch of drama to the overall aesthetic. And with its classic Porsche styling cues – think air intakes and hood vents – you'll feel like you're driving a genuine 911.

We also love how the Daily Guard feels on the road. It's like an old school car in every way, but without the outdatedness that so many newer cars seem to have. This is a car that's built for driving, not just for show. And with its excellent balance and handling, you'll be able to carve up twisties and tackle slippery roads with confidence.

But what really gets us excited is the idea behind this car. The Daily Guard is all about recreating the driving experience of old – the feel of the pedals, the sound of the exhaust, the thrill of acceleration. It's like a time machine in wheels, transporting you back to an era when cars were built for fun and excitement.

And finally, we have to talk about the group test with the RS4. Oh boy, this was a close call! But let me tell you, this car is something special. The way it handles, the way it brakes, the way it accelerates – it's all just top-notch. And with its four-wheel drive system, you'll be able to tackle even the toughest terrain with confidence.

In conclusion, the Porsche 997 Daily Guard is a car that truly delivers on its promise of an unforgettable driving experience. With its communicative suspension, hydraulic power steering, and manual gearbox, this car is like nothing else on the market. And with its classic styling cues and all-wheel drive system, you'll feel confident tackling even the toughest terrain. Whether you're a seasoned driver or just starting out, this car is an absolute must-have for anyone who loves driving.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this POV review by Auto top and L my name is Max and today we have visitors from the Czech Republic the guys from edit Automotive have brought their Resto mold or backdate 997 to us for us to have a go uh and for us to take home a little drive towards the ultimate so I'm going to show you the things that they have changed and of course we'll take a quick look at the base car because this is a 997 Carrera 4S which I don't think we've ever made a review with a manual gearbox car very very cool and at its Automotive built this G11 kind of to embrace the analog feel of this car which this is probably the last like analog feeling Porsche the 991 is a lot more modern already but this still feels a bit old school so what they do is they add this front bumper this is all carbon fiber as you can see gorgeous down there as well a little bit more aggressive little bit more open I would say and definitely a little bit more modern looking with these led daytime running lights and these like circles here in the headlight which just look amazing so they are white basically which means that they always look like this even when they're not home so it seems like it's the DRL but it's not it's just a look thing which I really like I think it looks super super cool so well done on that guys we've got these beautiful Wheels as well forged wheels and around that we've got Pirelli P Zeros these are 19-inch Wheels behind that we've got Porsche carbon Ceramics amazing suspension on this car is stuck but most customers apparently choose to go for a softer suspension setup other than that this is all stock move down the side you've got an added Automotive sticker right there and this is based on a Carrera 4S as I said added Automotive only takes wide body chassis so they take the four the 4S the four GTS and they built their car from there this body is 44 millimeters wider than a regular one a rear wheel drive one so that definitely adds to the look it's just a very cool look that that more wide rear because you have like a difference between the front and the rear poor that wind is fierce today which is all right so you definitely have you know a wider rear which is super super cool uh what kind of tires are we running 305s at the rear and yeah 19s as well we've got 305s at the rear 19 inch and then a super cool modification if you ask me is this like black bar running across the rear with the new tail lights Incorporated in there and a carbon fiber diffuser this again is all carbon fiber with a reversing light and a rear fog light as well a different exhaust very very good exhaust it sounds amazing it has it like a an air cooled burble to it low down and then when you get higher in the revs it starts howling which is amazing 3.8 liter flat six in there which is stock they don't do power increases they just like take it to the next level and they take the car apart they take the engine apart if anything needs replacing they replace it and they just make sure that it is in perfect condition so let's have a look see do you still see anything in the 997 yes you still see the engine so that is the 3.8 liter 355 horsepower 400 newton meters of torque so it's not a lot but it is enough to have fun with it G11 badge you can also choose to have like Porsche on there of course you can basically go as crazy as you like at its Automotive just customize anything you want Prices range from like 150k to 180k depending on the stuff you want but you can go absolutely nuts I also saw a couple of things that they are working on which is going to look epic so yeah a lot of cool stuff happening we've also got reupholstered seats so beautiful Alcantara here a nice soft leather G11 badge here and some more carbon so yeah that is very good and apparently the car was built in Germany that is very strange and then we've got a G11 badge here an edit Automotive badge with the same Vin so they basically buy a 997 and then they transform it into this they also change the interior as you can see so all the letters new all the Alcantara is new and then they only keep the AC unit and like the spoiler damper Sport and PSM buttons all the rest goes away and it's much more clean it's more simple definitely looks very good and then we've got Alcantara all the doors with sort of a classic stitching as well bit of 9 30 ish stuff like that super cool steering wheel is very good as well so let me just start it up so this is actually a 992 steering wheel and they took out all the buttons in the middle so you have like a regular normal empty steering wheel it's basically a GT3 steering wheel before the GT3 came out which is super cool still have heated steering wheel with a button down there and a lovely six-speed manual gearbox absolutely delicious it is such a nice car to drive the 997 it feels a bit old-school already I mean they were built between 2004 and 2013 and that kind of feels old school of course it's they started producing like 20 years ago so of course it's going to feel a bit old-school but yeah super super nice uh they also add Bluetooth and this wireless charger in the middle here which works and it's magnetic so it reacts to the magsafe thing from Apple that is cool so it doesn't move around that is very smart and they also change the seat belts so they are yellow so is the key and they are working on a fully analog key like just a clean key without buttons and you have to lock and unlock it by turning the key which I think is super smart they really want to embrace that old school analog feel just about the driving which I I think is a very good thing they just remove the screen and stuff like that and it's just about to drive so all these buttons you see everything is taken apart and if it's you know scratched or whatever they painted they replace it everything is supposed to look like it is new which it does it looks amazing uh yeah so as I said it has that like that old school feel I love that sounds really really good and it has a lovely manual gearbox really amazing okay so uh sport traction off so we have four wheel drive as it is a Carrera as base but uh the four-wheel drive system in this car only sends five percent to the front you know it in normal conditions only five percent so uh it really doesn't feel like a four-wheel drive car you don't have that heavier steering feel but when it needs it you know when it needs more traction or whatever it sense up to 40 percent in front which is a very nice setup it definitely it doesn't really feel uh hampered by that four wheel drive system of course you do have to push it hard if you want to slide it but I think for normal driving this is perfectly fine it also only adds 55 kilos to the weight of the car so yeah you might as well do it since you have that wider body and you can drive it in winter as well because you have four wheel drive so that is nice okay so a little bit of sound that is nice so suspension on this car is stuck as I said it's really nice very communicative and the steering is really good as well of course we still have hydraulic power steering at this car so everything you know from that steering to the manual the battlefield's got a really nice heavy clutch brake pedal feel is really good as well braking performance is amazing with those carbon ceramics yeah oh and that is a proper proper sound I mean come on the thing sounds so good it's so clean so mechanical love that so if you push it in first gear it will slide around a little bit it will you know squirm under power but it's nice it's got a nice balance to it it really does and I can imagine you know in the Czech Republic of course uh but also like in Germany or Poland or whatever you still have winter uh so it would be really nice to have a 997 Daily Guard that you know you can also use in Winter if you want or take on a skiing trip or whatever put some skis on the roof that would be amazing oh so nice so freaking nice old cars are just better than new cars period I mean it's not even that quick 355 horsepower it's not that much but it's just more than enough to have fun so all the ultimate speed is 288 so sweet very very windy you can definitely feel that that the car is moving around from that wind oh that is just lovely 997 also feels so much smaller than a 992 you know there's a lot more wind there's a lot more happening but I like it feels and that in the end is what they're going for at added Automotive of course they just want to give you a raw Driving Experience something that you know is reminiscent of the olden days that's also why you've got that rear that's sort of inspired by the original 911 and it's just a very very nice thought I really appreciate the the idea behind it because it's how I feel as well I also find myself like longing for an older older cars oh and it's not just about you know I don't want a turbo engine or I don't want an electric car or whatever it's also about the feel and the smell and just yeah I don't know there's something cool about old cars of course but normally you would sort of feel like the Driving Experience is not really up to Bar because everything feels outdated but now you know you have everything you need in here and it feels modern also this steering wheel does a lot on that front I think oh and these all are poor changes they sound so good I mean this is just the modest Carrera 4S you put an exhaust on it and it sounds amazing oh quick shift with that gearbox absolutely delicious don't know where all these Dutch people are going today but it's a Sunday so I guess it's Germany day until they're all going uh maybe they're going on holiday because summer holidays have just begun okay you're allowed on my Autobahn guys today so as you can see this RS4 in front of me is just quicker and I don't really care what that is oh what a love I love gearbox oh what a lovely car amazing edit all the motive guys you are definitely onto something uh when when they sent us an email saying that uh yeah we've got to wrestle more than 997 I was like wrestleman 997 that's a bit early isn't it it's not that old but I get what they're trying to do they're just trying to take like a 997 which is on the verge of the modern verses like of an old school car and just take everything that you love about it and enhancing that old-school feel of it which is very well done I really love that I have a weak spot for Porsches anyway you guys know that every time I drive one I'm like oh that's such a good car there's very little that comes close to the Driving Experience of a of a nice warship battery smooth lovely thanks so much for uh taking your car to us guys really really appreciate it uh good luck with everything in the future you're always welcome to come back if you have another car or if you have a development or whatever uh really looking forward to that thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed it you can subscribe by clicking the big button in the middle you can also check out this video on the right or this playlist on the left
