**Audiobook Review: Six of Crows**

I'm adoring this book and also this morning I was listening to the Audi book, I did not realize this Audi book has a full cast of characters which I love it has six narrators and we have six main characters. I love when audiobooks do that and I think I'm going to go for a walk and switch to the Audi book, I've honestly been listening mostly to the audio book today because I feel like it just felt so immersive and one of the narrators she was also the narrator for the main character in Throne of Glass. I heard her voice and I was like instantly brought back to how much I love that series, it's the next day and I'm on page 531 and we're very much in the thick of the action honestly I feel like we're always in the thick of the action that's something that's like really cool about this book there's just always like something going on though I will say some of my favorite moments are when the characters just like slow down take a breath and especially when we have just like a really great interaction and like moment between two characters cuz I feel like the characters in the relationships truly are the best part of the book and I also will say I take back everything I said about K and Andes I got the scene that I was looking for so now I'm sold and I have like just under 200 pages left I think and it's noon my goal is to finish this book today because I'm leaving to go to my parents house ideally I want to leave at like 5 so that gives me like 5 hours to read Around 200 pages also Luca has stolen my chair so I guess I'm going to read here on the floor next to him it is 3:30 so I have an hour and a half and I have exactly 100 pages left that is not a lot of time to read 100 pages but we're going to try something just happened and I'm so sad I'm like I don't want to believe it I'm just waiting for there to be a twist for this part to not be true but I feel like it's true I feel like this is going to be like a bittersweet ending and my heart's not ready

**Finishing the Book**

I finished the book and I'm going to say f Stars I really really liked it I'm like still thinking about the ending and I'm still sad that the book is over like the six characters were so great honestly wish it was a longer series because I could just read about the characters forever characters are the best the best parts of these books like K and and Nina and Matias Jesper and Wan feel like it's rare where I'm just like obsessed with every single character and I feel like there are characters that I will still continue to think about oh my gosh and now I can watch the Shadow and Bone TV show some of the six of Cs characters are in the shadow bone show so I wanted to wait until I read the Shadow and Bone Trilogy and read the six of crows duology but now I can watch the show I'll have to update you guys in like another video like my thoughts on the show I'm so excited to start it so now can we answer the question are ratings and reviews accurate

**The Accuracy of Ratings and Reviews**

I think I still stand with my opinion of when I started this video of like they're accurate is the first book I read the lowest rated book I own I did give the lowest rating possible one star but my rating was quite a bit lower than the average rating of three stars and then for six of crow I think my rating of 4.5 stars and then five stars was like very accurate to the average ratings and I'm really curious do you guys look at ratings and reviews before you read a book or when you're deciding which books to buy I do kind of I try and just like look at maybe reviews of people whose book taste I really trust but I try not to read like too much because I do think it can taint your opinion going into a book like if a book is too overhyped in your brain you may be disappointed or if you read a lot of negative stuff then you might notice all that negative stuff when you wouldn't have a otherwise but yeah this video is so fun to make and it'd be fun to do this video idea again at least like kind of once a year to check in on like what are the highest and rated lowest books on cuz it was so interesting at the beginning to actually pull my 10 highest and lowest rated books cuz I had no idea what they were going to be oh I also didn't update you guys on the time it's 5:30 so I got a little behind but finished this book pretty close to my 5:00 deadline anyway with that

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome to reading the highest and lowest rated books I own a reading challenge where we see if reviews and ratings are accurate basically will I love or hate these books as much as the internet does so I actually did this reading challenge before and at that time the lowest rated book I owned was low that first s and I gave it two and a half stars and then the highest rated book I owned at the time was the mind series and it was a five star series for me still one of my favorite series ever ratings and reviews are interesting I do think probably at least like 80% of the time maybe 85% of the time my rating is like in the general ballpark of the average Goodreads rating so I do think average ratings have been at least fairly accurate in my reading experience but there's also been plenty of times that I've read a lower rated book and really enjoyed it or read a really high rated book and not loved it so you truly never know I'm going to pull my top 10 highest rated and my 10 lowest rated I'm only going to read the singular highest and lowest rated book in this video but I think it'll be fun just to see the 10 highest and 10 lowest rated books I own all right I've collected my 10 lowest rated books at number 10 we have all this and more and this is a sci-fi thriller book and what really hooked me about this book is it sounds like the reader gets to make choices about very like Choose Your Own Adventure then Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey I feel like a lot of Christmas romances are a little lower rated will I still read this one when it is the holiday season probably we have the lake by Natasha Preston I feel like I was going to read any genre that had a little bit of lower rating mystery is the one I mind the least at 3.36 Stars the girl with no reflection another 3.36 star rating is seasick and a mystery this one is the twin and it has 3.34 stars too hot to handle by Tessa Bailey I recently read a Tessa Bailey book that I DNA so I am a little bit scared to read this one there's no way I die first and then drum roll my lowest read book and the book I will be reading in this video is 48 Clues Into The Disappearance of my sister a mystery our top 10 kill switch by Penelope Douglas I have such a LoveHate relationship with the first two books in the series I'm like okay maybe this book could redeem the series for me Scythe which I know is very popular beneath the surface by Emily McIntyre this is the fourth book in the Sugar Lake series and it would make sense that a later book in the series would be quite highly rated and then I have known that this book is very high rated it is before let go by Kennedy Ryan this one is also no surprise to me the book The down the drain by Julia Fox a great sign that I need to read it soon patch the sun it looks like it is childhood best friends to lovers six of crows this is a special edition so that's why cover doesn't look like the usual one I think this is the most requested book ever for me to read on my channel and then my second highest rated book is of Fury this is technically the fifth book in a series but it can be read as a standalone and then my number one most highly rated book at 4.59 stars that is so high and it is crooked Kingdom the last book in the six of crows duology and I cannot read crooked Kingdom without reading six of crows so I think that means we've got to read the whole duy in this video okay the next question is which to start with the lowest or highest rated I think I have to start with the lowest rated because if I do not enjoy this book then I have something to look forward to because cuz I do feel very confident I'm going to love the six of crows duology and I do think this book has a cool concept there are 48 Clues into this appearance of our main character sister and there are 48 chapters in this book so my understanding is that each chapter reveals a different clue so I love that we already have a really unique premise going into this book I'm only on page seven so not really far enough to cast any like strong opinion but the wording and like writing style of this book so far is very wordy this sentence to show you what I'm talking about it's literally a whole paragraph but it's one sentence I'm like having to like reread Parts cuz I'm like wait what was that saying it feels like very impersonal like so far the writing has been very factual like these are the clues I'm not sure how to feel I've made it to Page 30 and I think I'm going to stop here for now I am actually going on a trip to Canada with my mom which I'm very excited about and I'm leaving tomorrow so I desperately need to pack and I will definitely bring this along with me to read on the plane also if you saw the last time that I filmed in this room it looked quite different me and Danny have a two-bedroom and this is the office/guest bedroom and I'm so happy we now have a matching cute comforter set here everything that you see on this bed is from beder who has kind sponsored today's video as a reader you know it's so important to have a comfy cozy reading setup and I have absolutely loved coming in here and reading I also adore this blanket I've been taking it everwhere with me on my reading chair on the couch to like snuggle up with it's so soft my cat Luca is also obsessed with it so it is human and Cat approved and it's huge too I love that bed shirt has so many sizes colors textures like I love a massive blanket and then same with like our bedding I really wanted this color because we have lots of like cream and wood Decor in this room but this comforter set comes in a billion colors and sizes and they have also so many other comforter options so literally any kind of bedding need you have bedir has got you covered and oh I also got something fun let me show you they also sent me two blanket hoodies I've always wanted to try one of these okay the first one is just cream but very much matches the bedding and the second one has cats on it it's so soft with the holidays coming up I feel like a blanket or like a comfy cozy blanket hoodie are very Universal gifts and bedding is also a great gift like we all need bedding we all sleep but I feel like we often neglect updating our bedding so I really do think it's a perfect gift for so many people and you click the link in my description to get yourself some really cozy bed share products okay I'm now going to start packing and I'll probably see you guys in Canada we're in Quebec City City and I'm on page 175 so a little over halfway through and I'm glad the book has gotten a lot better but for a good chunk of it it was rough it was brutal I would say until page like 80 or 100 I was at I was at one star which I've only ever given one one star rating ever in my reading history and that was for maybe someday by calling Hoover because that book had cheating in it and I feel like it just really Justified the cheating and that made me mad my kind of philosophy on Star r is two stars if I don't like it if I dnf it and I'm only going to give a one star if it really makes me angry with how bad it is and that's how I was feeling it really felt like a fact sheet like one chapter would be like let's analyze the footprints then the next chapter would be like let's analyze her schedule that day or the last person she saw like it didn't really feel like a story it almost felt like I was reading the Case Files which was just so hard to get invested in but then it just like Switched at one point to actually telling the story of the main girl's disappearance and now I'm like okay but this is a lot better why did it not just start out this way it's so weird that it just switched like formats partway through I'm so curious what the ending will be cuz one thing about a mystery is the twist or like the reveal at the end can bring you up or down like a whole star in my opinion so it really could go really any Direction with my writing at this point and then my mom is reading the naturals I brought that for her to read my mom is so great I bring her so many books to read all the time and it's so fun that we can like share in books you've read a lot of them I think your top three are acatar the inh heritance games and project tale Mary mhm I don't remember what else you've read guide to a good girls guy to murder which I want to see the TV show yes you need to watch the show um Varity you hated that was a long time ago that I just didn't like the characters and I like to like characters mhm oh Emily Henry you read be I read be and book I love both of those yeah I really like those I like beach Tre better so many books and then now I think we're going to do some sing and I think I'm going to bring my book there's a park called The Plains of Abraham that is right next to the Citadel that I think we're going to go into so I think we're going to sit there and read we kind of like briefly went to this park the other day and there's so many fall leaves and fall trees which is so cool cuz the leaves don't really change colors in Texas so now is like the first time I felt like it looks like fall outside after doing lots of sightseeing we wandered into three different libraries the first one was inside their Parliament building and it was gorgeous I loved the big columns and the gorgeous bookcases and then the second library that we went to was called the house of literature I Loved These archways I thought the architecture was so pretty and it was just so bright and Quebec is a French speaking province in Canada so almost all the books were in French but I did find one English book and it was so Random to be a Betty White book I thought that was kind of funny and then I also learned this is the French word for novels and then I did do some reading here it was so peaceful and so bright and I just was great atmospheric reading I loved it then we went to the Moren Center which is is an English language library and it was so pretty and there were so many books that I recognized and this building was built over 200 years ago as one of the city's first jails which is so interesting that it's now a library but it was very cool very Victorian era esque looking library and then after spending a few more days in qubec city we headed to Montreal we took a train which was so picturesque and I of course did some more reading of 48 Clues into this appearance of my sister and I finished the book and then I also had time to start some of six of crows on this trip I'm back from Canada we've got sleepy Luca as our live studio audience today and I finished 48 Clues into this appearence of my sister and started six of crows I have decided to give it one star I'm actually surprised because I really was giving this book so much hope the last time I think I updated you guys my thoughts I was like if it has a really good ending that could really bring it up in rating and the ending was so unsatisfying to me which I think I hate in general but I could live with if it was any other genre but do not want to feel unsatisfied with a mystery book and yeah overall I just felt like I did not bond with the writing style and I just didn't care for like our main character either but I am always generally of the opinion that like 90 plus% of books that I dislike are not because they're bad books they're just not for me I think if somebody out there enjoys the book then potentially many people out there could enjoy that book if it is their taste so I did go and read a bunch of like four and five star reviews on this book just because I was curious I'm still going to say with one star because that was like my own personal experience and interesting enough what a lot of people that did like it were saying was that they felt like it was more about our narrator and how she was dealing with The Disappearance than it was necessarily a mystery and I can see that again I really didn't like the narrator so that still did not make it work for me even from that perspective but I can see how that could work for somebody else and then let's talk six of crows I'm on page 156 I'm liking it so far there's a lot of characters this book jumps right into the plot which is very fun especially with the fantasy sometimes it can move quite slow at the beginning because there is so much like World building so I like that we jump right into the plot but I do wish there was like a tiny bit more world and character building I did already read Shadow and Bone Shadow and bone is by the same author and technically both series can be read independently but the events of the Shadow and Bone Trilogy happened before the six of crows duology and I'm glad I did read that series first because a lot of World building happened in that Series so I already kind of have like a base understanding of the world of six of crows oh also I don't know if I really talked about the plot of this book but basically we have six characters Cass is the leader of the group and they're going on this Heist to the ice Court to retrieve a person who knows some information that if it got out would be really catastrophic I love like a Thief character in fantasy books I just think they're so interesting and that's most of these six characters Cass runs this like crime ring basically and they're all teenagers too so just imagining like 17-year-olds being these super smart stealthy like thieves and honestly businessmen they've got a big operation going is fun to picture in my head and I already have some romance subplot predictions too I'm on page 210 this book has annotations from Lee bardugo in it and I thought this annotation was funny there's character Nam um who is on the rival gang and it says when I first wrote the scene I based um on one of my exes my editor said um seems too pathetic I feel sorry for him I had a laugh and then went back into the draft room to make um a lot scarier another little annotation to the bit I liked is that she consulted a friend of hers who had CIA training when she was planning out how the heights was going to go down and also for the security system of the ice Court which is where they're breaking into so yeah I don't know I just think it's really interesting to hear about all the behind the scenes of a book I remember reading about in the caraval series that Stephanie Garber said she met with a therapist to like really break down her characters and like really delve into their back stories and add more depth to them and that's so cool that's so smart that makes so much sense I would have just never thought of that it's so cool to hear about good afternoon we're doing a little pajama day today I last saw you guys on Friday it's now Monday I'm on page 405 I have like 200 pages left and I feel like so much has happened since I last updated you guys my favorite part so far has been chapters 19 and 20 we get to learn way more about nah and tas's backstory in those chapters and I am like so hooked with their story I would still say like an is my favorite individual character but the two of them's like backstory is so intriguing to me and so much of this book like all the characters do have like quite tough backstories for the most part and they're doing this Heist which is like very intense and so in chapters 19 and 20 getting to see like some happy flashbacks with Nina and Matias was really nice like that was just like so cute to read and yeah now we're in the thick of the heist and I feel like everything is suddenly going wrong and I'm scared for them the heist they're doing would be so insane if they pulled it off hello it is way later it's just about 9:00 and I set a goal for myself this morning that I wanted to get to page 500 today and I'm on page 480 so so close also I'm currently listening to this playlist that I'm obsessed with it's called reading fantasy no vocals I think I've talked about this before potentially but I used to try to listen to music while reading but a lot of playlists have music with vocals and I would just get so distracted like I could not focus and then I discovered instrumental only playlists and playlists that are like specific for genres and I'm obsessed like having any kind of movie soundtrack playing while I'm reading just makes me feel so extra Andross in the book and I had kind of forgotten that feeling of listening to a movie soundtrack while reading and I put on some music in the last like 20 or so pages of reading and like it just makes the stakes feel so much higher curious how do you guys like to read like do you listen to music do you listen to the audio book do you read in silence do you like lyrics no lyrics I have kind of a few instrumental playlists I bounce around between I just got to page 518 and and I think I'm finally going to stop here but something just happened that was crazy and something else happened that was crazy and I just feel like I'm getting Whiplash in the best way and VY doesn't want to put the book down but it is late I think I'm going to finish the book tomorrow but it's getting so good okay good night good morning let's finish this book it's the same day I just took out the braids of my hair but I finished six of Cs it was literally so good especially the ending I feel like so many intense things happened and like so many I don't know if platus is the right word but like you know they kept getting themselves in trouble and situations that I was like I cannot imagine how they're going to get out of the situation and then they would in a way that was so unexpected and I think my favorite thing is just the found family aspect of in this book like I said they all have like hard Back stories and really none of them have any family at least not any that are in their lives and so it's cool to see throughout the book how they start out knowing each other but by the end they do very much feel like family and for my rating I'm really torn between 4.5 and five stars I feel like the ending 100% a five star ending the only reason I'm like considering 4.5 is there are six main characters which is a lot and we get five of those six main characters povs and in the beginning it did take me a like a little bit to like really bond with the characters just because there were so many and we jump back and forth between all their povs so I think I am going to say 4.5 stars for this one but I feel like crooked Kingdom will 100% be five stars because now I care about the characters so much and then I also just started crooked Kingdom I'm only two chapters in and they have a new mission for this book I feel like the mission in book one was like harder and this Mission feels like it could hypothetically be easier to complete but I think completing this mission is way more important to the six of CRS characters so I'm curious how that's going to play in I think Cass is like a very levelheaded character but when something's really important to you that can like model with your level-headedness and with your thinking so I hope everything goes well for the characters and this look is also so thick how many pages is it 722 Pages that's crazy hello it is 2 days later and I'm on page 326 I feel like think I'm at the best part in the book so far chapter 14 something crazy was revealed dare I say the most shocking thing from either book in my opinion and then chapter 15 was so cute it was so cute and I will say these books are predominantly fantasy like there are romance subplots but it's quite subtle subplot so just a warning to like not go into these books expecting too much romance as much I love the romance I do have one little critique with one of the romance subplots I'm going to say names of couples I don't feel like that's a spoil cuz I think you can tell very early on into six of crows who the potential romance plot lines are going to be between I love Nina and Matias so much and then Cass and an I do really like them as well but I feel like their romance could be like a little more fleshed out and I still have a lot of this book left so potentially that's still going to happen completely feel that they really deeply care for each other but I don't quite feel like a really really strong romantic chemistry I just can't really picture in my brain what they would look like as a couple but yeah other than that adoring this book and also this morning I was listening to the Audi book I did not realize this Audi book has a full cast of characters which I love it has six narrators and we have six main characters I love when audiobooks do that and I think I'm going to go for a walk and switch to the Audi book I've honestly been listening mostly to the audio book today because I feel like it just felt so immersive and one of the narrators she was also the narrator for the main character in Throne of Glass I heard her voice and I was like instantly brought back to how much I love that series it's the next day and I'm on page 531 and we're very much in the thick of the action honestly I feel like we're always in the thick of the action that's something that's like really cool about this book there's just always like something going on though I will say some of my favorite moments are when the characters just like slow down take a breath and especially when we have just like a really great interaction and like moment between two characters cuz I feel like the characters in the relationships truly are the best part of the book and I also will say I take back everything I said about K and Andes I got the scene that I was looking for so now I'm sold and I have like just under 200 pages left I think and it's noon my goal is to finish this book today because I'm leaving to go to my parents house ideally I want to leave at like 5 so that gives me like 5 hours to read Around 200 pages also Luca has stolen my chair so I guess I'm going to read here on the floor next to him it is 3:30 so I have an hour and a half and I have exactly 100 pages left that is not a lot of time to read 100 pages but we're going to try something just happened and I'm so sad I'm like I don't want to believe it I'm just waiting for there to be a twist for this part to not be true but I feel like it's true I feel like this is going to be like a bittersweet ending and my heart's not ready I finished the book and I'm going to say f Stars I really really liked it I'm like still thinking about the ending and I'm still sad that the book is over like the six characters were so great honestly wish it was a longer series because I could just read about the characters forever characters are the best the best parts of these books like K and and Nina and Matias Jesper and Wan feel like it's rare where I'm just like obsessed with every single character and I feel like there are characters that I will still continue to think about oh my gosh and now I can watch the Shadow and Bone TV show some of the six of Cs characters are in the shadow bone show so I wanted to wait until I read the Shadow and Bone Trilogy and read the six of crows duology but now I can watch the show I'll have to update you guys in like another video like my thoughts on the show I'm so excited to start it so now can we answer the question are ratings and reviews accurate I think I still stand with my opinion of when I started this video of like they're accurate is the first book I read the lowest rated book I own I did give the lowest rating possible one star but my rating was quite a bit lower than the average rating of three stars and then for six of crow I think my rating of 4.5 stars and then five stars was like very accurate to the average ratings and I'm really curious do you guys look at ratings and reviews before you read a book or when you're deciding which books to buy I do kind of I try and just like look at maybe reviews of people whose book taste I really trust but I try not to read like too much because I do think it can taint your opinion going into a book like if a book is too overhyped in your brain you may be disappointed or if you read a lot of negative stuff then you might notice all that negative stuff when you wouldn't have a otherwise but yeah this video is so fun to make and it'd be fun to do this video idea again at least like kind of once a year to check in on like what are the highest and rated lowest books on cuz it was so interesting at the beginning to actually pull my 10 highest and lowest rated books cuz I had no idea what they were going to be oh I also didn't update you guys on the time it's 5:30 so I got a little behind but finished this book pretty close to my 5:00 deadline anyway with that I'll see you guys next week byewelcome to reading the highest and lowest rated books I own a reading challenge where we see if reviews and the first one is just cream but very much matches the bedding and the second one has cats on it it's so soft with the holidays coming up I feel like a blanket or like a comfy cozy blanket hoodie are very Universal gifts and bedding is also a great gift like we all need bedding we all sleep but I feel like we often neglect updating our bedding so I really do think it's a perfect gift for so many people and you click the link in my description to get yourself some really cozy bed share products okay I'm now going to start packing and I'll probably see you guys in Canada we're in Quebec City City and I'm on page 175 so a little over halfway through and I'm glad the book has gotten a lot better but for a good chunk of it it was rough it was brutal I would say until page like 80 or 100 I was at I was at one star which I've only ever given one one star rating ever in my reading history and that was for maybe someday by calling Hoover because that book had cheating in it and I feel like it just really Justified the cheating and that made me mad my kind of philosophy on Star r is two stars if I don't like it if I dnf it and I'm only going to give a one star if it really makes me angry with how bad it is and that's how I was feeling it really felt like a fact sheet like one chapter would be like let's analyze the footprints then the next chapter would be like let's analyze her schedule that day or the last person she saw like it didn't really feel like a story it almost felt like I was reading the Case Files which was just so hard to get invested in but then it just like Switched at one point to actually telling the story of the main girl's disappearance and now I'm like okay but this is a lot better why did it not just start out this way it's so weird that it just switched like formats partway through I'm so curious what the ending will be cuz one thing about a mystery is the twist or like the reveal at the end can bring you up or down like a whole star in my opinion so it really could go really any Direction with my writing at this point and then my mom is reading the naturals I brought that for her to read my mom is so great I bring her so many books to read all the time and it's so fun that we can like share in books you've read a lot of them I think your top three are acatar the inh heritance games and project tale Mary mhm I don't remember what else you've read guide to a good girls guy to murder which I want to see the TV show yes you need to watch the show um Varity you hated that was a long time ago that I just didn't like the characters and I like to like characters mhm oh Emily Henry you read be I read be and book I love both of those yeah I really like those I like beach Tre better so many books and then now I think we're going to do some sing and I think I'm going to bring my book there's a park called The Plains of Abraham that is right next to the Citadel that I think we're going to go into so I think we're going to sit there and read we kind of like briefly went to this park the other day and there's so many fall leaves and fall trees which is so cool cuz the leaves don't really change colors in Texas so now is like the first time I felt like it looks like fall outside after doing lots of sightseeing we wandered into three different libraries the first one was inside their Parliament building and it was gorgeous I loved the big columns and the gorgeous bookcases and then the second library that we went to was called the house of literature I Loved These archways I thought the architecture was so pretty and it was just so bright and Quebec is a French speaking province in Canada so almost all the books were in French but I did find one English book and it was so Random to be a Betty White book I thought that was kind of funny and then I also learned this is the French word for novels and then I did do some reading here it was so peaceful and so bright and I just was great atmospheric reading I loved it then we went to the Moren Center which is is an English language library and it was so pretty and there were so many books that I recognized and this building was built over 200 years ago as one of the city's first jails which is so interesting that it's now a library but it was very cool very Victorian era esque looking library and then after spending a few more days in qubec city we headed to Montreal we took a train which was so picturesque and I of course did some more reading of 48 Clues into this appearance of my sister and I finished the book and then I also had time to start some of six of crows on this trip I'm back from Canada we've got sleepy Luca as our live studio audience today and I finished 48 Clues into this appearence of my sister and started six of crows I have decided to give it one star I'm actually surprised because I really was giving this book so much hope the last time I think I updated you guys my thoughts I was like if it has a really good ending that could really bring it up in rating and the ending was so unsatisfying to me which I think I hate in general but I could live with if it was any other genre but do not want to feel unsatisfied with a mystery book and yeah overall I just felt like I did not bond with the writing style and I just didn't care for like our main character either but I am always generally of the opinion that like 90 plus% of books that I dislike are not because they're bad books they're just not for me I think if somebody out there enjoys the book then potentially many people out there could enjoy that book if it is their taste so I did go and read a bunch of like four and five star reviews on this book just because I was curious I'm still going to say with one star because that was like my own personal experience and interesting enough what a lot of people that did like it were saying was that they felt like it was more about our narrator and how she was dealing with The Disappearance than it was necessarily a mystery and I can see that again I really didn't like the narrator so that still did not make it work for me even from that perspective but I can see how that could work for somebody else and then let's talk six of crows I'm on page 156 I'm liking it so far there's a lot of characters this book jumps right into the plot which is very fun especially with the fantasy sometimes it can move quite slow at the beginning because there is so much like World building so I like that we jump right into the plot but I do wish there was like a tiny bit more world and character building I did already read Shadow and Bone Shadow and bone is by the same author and technically both series can be read independently but the events of the Shadow and Bone Trilogy happened before the six of crows duology and I'm glad I did read that series first because a lot of World building happened in that Series so I already kind of have like a base understanding of the world of six of crows oh also I don't know if I really talked about the plot of this book but basically we have six characters Cass is the leader of the group and they're going on this Heist to the ice Court to retrieve a person who knows some information that if it got out would be really catastrophic I love like a Thief character in fantasy books I just think they're so interesting and that's most of these six characters Cass runs this like crime ring basically and they're all teenagers too so just imagining like 17-year-olds being these super smart stealthy like thieves and honestly businessmen they've got a big operation going is fun to picture in my head and I already have some romance subplot predictions too I'm on page 210 this book has annotations from Lee bardugo in it and I thought this annotation was funny there's character Nam um who is on the rival gang and it says when I first wrote the scene I based um on one of my exes my editor said um seems too pathetic I feel sorry for him I had a laugh and then went back into the draft room to make um a lot scarier another little annotation to the bit I liked is that she consulted a friend of hers who had CIA training when she was planning out how the heights was going to go down and also for the security system of the ice Court which is where they're breaking into so yeah I don't know I just think it's really interesting to hear about all the behind the scenes of a book I remember reading about in the caraval series that Stephanie Garber said she met with a therapist to like really break down her characters and like really delve into their back stories and add more depth to them and that's so cool that's so smart that makes so much sense I would have just never thought of that it's so cool to hear about good afternoon we're doing a little pajama day today I last saw you guys on Friday it's now Monday I'm on page 405 I have like 200 pages left and I feel like so much has happened since I last updated you guys my favorite part so far has been chapters 19 and 20 we get to learn way more about nah and tas's backstory in those chapters and I am like so hooked with their story I would still say like an is my favorite individual character but the two of them's like backstory is so intriguing to me and so much of this book like all the characters do have like quite tough backstories for the most part and they're doing this Heist which is like very intense and so in chapters 19 and 20 getting to see like some happy flashbacks with Nina and Matias was really nice like that was just like so cute to read and yeah now we're in the thick of the heist and I feel like everything is suddenly going wrong and I'm scared for them the heist they're doing would be so insane if they pulled it off hello it is way later it's just about 9:00 and I set a goal for myself this morning that I wanted to get to page 500 today and I'm on page 480 so so close also I'm currently listening to this playlist that I'm obsessed with it's called reading fantasy no vocals I think I've talked about this before potentially but I used to try to listen to music while reading but a lot of playlists have music with vocals and I would just get so distracted like I could not focus and then I discovered instrumental only playlists and playlists that are like specific for genres and I'm obsessed like having any kind of movie soundtrack playing while I'm reading just makes me feel so extra Andross in the book and I had kind of forgotten that feeling of listening to a movie soundtrack while reading and I put on some music in the last like 20 or so pages of reading and like it just makes the stakes feel so much higher curious how do you guys like to read like do you listen to music do you listen to the audio book do you read in silence do you like lyrics no lyrics I have kind of a few instrumental playlists I bounce around between I just got to page 518 and and I think I'm finally going to stop here but something just happened that was crazy and something else happened that was crazy and I just feel like I'm getting Whiplash in the best way and VY doesn't want to put the book down but it is late I think I'm going to finish the book tomorrow but it's getting so good okay good night good morning let's finish this book it's the same day I just took out the braids of my hair but I finished six of Cs it was literally so good especially the ending I feel like so many intense things happened and like so many I don't know if platus is the right word but like you know they kept getting themselves in trouble and situations that I was like I cannot imagine how they're going to get out of the situation and then they would in a way that was so unexpected and I think my favorite thing is just the found family aspect of in this book like I said they all have like hard Back stories and really none of them have any family at least not any that are in their lives and so it's cool to see throughout the book how they start out knowing each other but by the end they do very much feel like family and for my rating I'm really torn between 4.5 and five stars I feel like the ending 100% a five star ending the only reason I'm like considering 4.5 is there are six main characters which is a lot and we get five of those six main characters povs and in the beginning it did take me a like a little bit to like really bond with the characters just because there were so many and we jump back and forth between all their povs so I think I am going to say 4.5 stars for this one but I feel like crooked Kingdom will 100% be five stars because now I care about the characters so much and then I also just started crooked Kingdom I'm only two chapters in and they have a new mission for this book I feel like the mission in book one was like harder and this Mission feels like it could hypothetically be easier to complete but I think completing this mission is way more important to the six of CRS characters so I'm curious how that's going to play in I think Cass is like a very levelheaded character but when something's really important to you that can like model with your level-headedness and with your thinking so I hope everything goes well for the characters and this look is also so thick how many pages is it 722 Pages that's crazy hello it is 2 days later and I'm on page 326 I feel like think I'm at the best part in the book so far chapter 14 something crazy was revealed dare I say the most shocking thing from either book in my opinion and then chapter 15 was so cute it was so cute and I will say these books are predominantly fantasy like there are romance subplots but it's quite subtle subplot so just a warning to like not go into these books expecting too much romance as much I love the romance I do have one little critique with one of the romance subplots I'm going to say names of couples I don't feel like that's a spoil cuz I think you can tell very early on into six of crows who the potential romance plot lines are going to be between I love Nina and Matias so much and then Cass and an I do really like them as well but I feel like their romance could be like a little more fleshed out and I still have a lot of this book left so potentially that's still going to happen completely feel that they really deeply care for each other but I don't quite feel like a really really strong romantic chemistry I just can't really picture in my brain what they would look like as a couple but yeah other than that adoring this book and also this morning I was listening to the Audi book I did not realize this Audi book has a full cast of characters which I love it has six narrators and we have six main characters I love when audiobooks do that and I think I'm going to go for a walk and switch to the Audi book I've honestly been listening mostly to the audio book today because I feel like it just felt so immersive and one of the narrators she was also the narrator for the main character in Throne of Glass I heard her voice and I was like instantly brought back to how much I love that series it's the next day and I'm on page 531 and we're very much in the thick of the action honestly I feel like we're always in the thick of the action that's something that's like really cool about this book there's just always like something going on though I will say some of my favorite moments are when the characters just like slow down take a breath and especially when we have just like a really great interaction and like moment between two characters cuz I feel like the characters in the relationships truly are the best part of the book and I also will say I take back everything I said about K and Andes I got the scene that I was looking for so now I'm sold and I have like just under 200 pages left I think and it's noon my goal is to finish this book today because I'm leaving to go to my parents house ideally I want to leave at like 5 so that gives me like 5 hours to read Around 200 pages also Luca has stolen my chair so I guess I'm going to read here on the floor next to him it is 3:30 so I have an hour and a half and I have exactly 100 pages left that is not a lot of time to read 100 pages but we're going to try something just happened and I'm so sad I'm like I don't want to believe it I'm just waiting for there to be a twist for this part to not be true but I feel like it's true I feel like this is going to be like a bittersweet ending and my heart's not ready I finished the book and I'm going to say f Stars I really really liked it I'm like still thinking about the ending and I'm still sad that the book is over like the six characters were so great honestly wish it was a longer series because I could just read about the characters forever characters are the best the best parts of these books like K and and Nina and Matias Jesper and Wan feel like it's rare where I'm just like obsessed with every single character and I feel like there are characters that I will still continue to think about oh my gosh and now I can watch the Shadow and Bone TV show some of the six of Cs characters are in the shadow bone show so I wanted to wait until I read the Shadow and Bone Trilogy and read the six of crows duology but now I can watch the show I'll have to update you guys in like another video like my thoughts on the show I'm so excited to start it so now can we answer the question are ratings and reviews accurate I think I still stand with my opinion of when I started this video of like they're accurate is the first book I read the lowest rated book I own I did give the lowest rating possible one star but my rating was quite a bit lower than the average rating of three stars and then for six of crow I think my rating of 4.5 stars and then five stars was like very accurate to the average ratings and I'm really curious do you guys look at ratings and reviews before you read a book or when you're deciding which books to buy I do kind of I try and just like look at maybe reviews of people whose book taste I really trust but I try not to read like too much because I do think it can taint your opinion going into a book like if a book is too overhyped in your brain you may be disappointed or if you read a lot of negative stuff then you might notice all that negative stuff when you wouldn't have a otherwise but yeah this video is so fun to make and it'd be fun to do this video idea again at least like kind of once a year to check in on like what are the highest and rated lowest books on cuz it was so interesting at the beginning to actually pull my 10 highest and lowest rated books cuz I had no idea what they were going to be oh I also didn't update you guys on the time it's 5:30 so I got a little behind but finished this book pretty close to my 5:00 deadline anyway with that I'll see you guys next week bye\n"
