The Unfiltered Conversation: A Vlog on Cars and Road Trips
As we settled into the passenger seat of our car, I couldn't help but notice that the engine had a unique sound to it. The driver described it as "grunty" with an unorthodox tone that seemed both angry and awesome at the same time. They compared it to a word they felt perfectly encapsulated its personality: "angry." This sentiment was echoed by the car's owner, who joked about how the engine would "gallop" all the time, as if ready to hit 80 mph instantly.
The conversation took a turn when we discussed our plans for an upcoming road trip. The driver mentioned that they would be switching to E85 fuel in the next couple of months, which would reportedly increase power output by around 20 pounds. They were looking to boost from 18 lbs to around 38 lbs, a "tiny little jump" that would make all the difference.
As we chatted about cars and road trips, our conversation wandered over to other topics. We reminisced about a previous event where the owner's car made an appearance, noting its impressive performance capabilities. The driver mentioned their own experience with clutches, jokingly asking if they could "clutch" up the I-95 traffic, which was notoriously congested. Despite this, the owner assured us that their car was actually quite pleasant to drive.
Our conversation also took a lighthearted turn as we spotted an Accord on the road, which sparked a debate about its performance capabilities. The driver praised the car's Terminator model, stating it was one of the best Mustangs they'd ever heard about and recommended it to anyone looking for a good ride. They also shared their own experience driving through underpasses, noting how it seemed to get them "right in the tummy."
As we continued our conversation, we discussed our personal preferences when it came to cars. The driver jokingly said that some people love roller coasters, while others, like themselves, enjoy being in control behind the wheel. Their friend Zach, on the other hand, confessed to being deathly afraid of roller coasters, citing their lack of excitement as a major turn-off.
The conversation took another interesting turn when we talked about weight reduction and its impact on car performance. The owner mentioned that they had done some work to lighten up their vehicle, but acknowledged that the engine itself was still quite heavy. They also joked about the labor involved in preparing their car for an event, estimating around 70 hours of work.
Finally, as we wrapped up our conversation, the driver expressed gratitude for being able to share this experience with us. They thanked us for watching and participating, assuring us that they would see you guys next time on their vlog, where they promised more exciting content and a continued journey through the world of cars and road trips.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: engoing for a test hit in the 240 ain't that right Josh oh yeah you see my tire marks yeah yep still don't have traction all right Road triping 240 ain't that right Josh oh yeah so Josh would you like to tell people what the setup is in this lovely vehicle all righty well uh this little guy I've got a 93 uh 240SX convertible which they didn't make many of and not manual either right no uh none of the 240 Convertibles were manual not even one um yeah there were I believe a little over 3,000 total made between between uh 89 and 93 and they weren't actually made by Nissan and all they were made by a company called ASC um believe it was done out of California I think it was so they manufactured in California yeah the car itself they they got they buy brand new cars from Nissan and then convert them in oh so they were all conversions huh yeah and this is not the stock motor either no no not at all uh close though no um yeah the stock motor that came in this was the um the KA 24 this stereotypical 240 motor yeah just the normal little na 240 motor the truck motor yeah exactly RV 26 um it's out of a Skyline GTR which we never got here in the lovely United States not even the motor no so cuz so did you have to did you pick it up from an importer did you import it yourself actually um I bought the car used that already had the swap done oh my gosh it wasn't done properly so I pretty much res swapped it that's still great though that you had the mounts and everything and all that I had the mounts it came with a uh a series 2 computer the tune on it was completely messed up right after I got it running I melted a hole in a piston yeah cuz the first time we met we were talking when you popped the hood I was like that's not a k they are an SR20 and then you see it right on the front rb26 you're like okay I give you the golf clap but after that you were telling me about your hardships with it and I was just like yeah that's but we always we always talk about like what hasn't been worth it and all that stuff with all the tinkery little things I mean it at first it was worth it yeah um it was like right when I first got it running it was on Twin Turbo oh yeah yeah I forgot yeah you to convert it that's right yeah cuz right now it's a big single Swap it's a BB s366 it's not small it's not me it's a little bit bigger than my head like whenever you see a diesel whenever we see a diesel he goes mine's bigger compensation yeah the whole compensation thing yeah but right now we're on pump correct yeah right now we're on uh just 93 out 10 and what's that ballpark make usually uh close to five in the wheel it's it's not it's not slow we're running the four four what gears it's a 410 410 yeah so normally a pretty short gear in other kind of cars but this is just reels away yeah yeah this I I like to think of it as like a sling shot like it kind of builds up builds up and then just goes absolutely it's it's all kinds of fun it takes a little while to actually get going I don't hit full Boost till about 5 grand yeah but yeah we did that test hit earlier this morning it was like it slowly builds and then like from three around 3,000 RPMs to 4500 it slowly builds from 0 to 10 psi well as soon as it hits 10 psi it pretty much just spikes straight to 18 and that's when I it just goes yeah and I just instant and you have Brands making new tires too yeah I got the just got the n5s we're on a road trip to Maryland to uh I can't remember the event name already it's a her Park Urbana Park yeah where we're going to we're going to go hang out with some friends up in Maryland and uh it's also where I met the legendary keniji Evo Marcus that I reviewed last March almost over a year ago now we got a beamer the 335i then we have Zach's hatch which is finally running decently again we have I have nightmares about that car running improperly cuz it happen so often I love the turbo sound that's the car makes though it's just like when you barely get in it it's like cuz you were telling me that you convinced your family to get this because of the gas mileage yeah actually yeah I got the car um for a little bit less than a normal like just like 240 convertible shell right with the RB like when I got the RB it had um a blow bottom end the oil P going out like most RDS do and yeah it's all kinds of fun and um so like rebuilt it I've rebuilt the motor three times now oh and yeah man but now it's fully built the first two times I built it were stock right when I got yeah right when I got it I had to build it builted a set of Pistons uh was it put a new set in well the first time uh the first set we were running injector went bad and uh melted one piston P clean through goodness gracious man yeah they got it running again on uh stock set of Pistons again which stock Pistons are not cheap no but then again the stock set of RV Pistons can hold about 12200 horsepower at the crank yeah so that's he s pretty well I mean both both of the inline motors from Japan I mean the stereotypical ones the RB and the 2J they're just so nuts and that's kind of the vibe I got like right when I got in your car was um a little bit grunty or sounding 2J you know not that the 2J sounds bad it sounds awesome oh yeah but you know it has this very unorthodox car sound but it's it's awesome it's just angry it's a that's a perfect word it's angry all the time even right now it's like when are we going to gallop you jerk the entire time it's like please it's like I'm ready I'm ready I'm ready ready I'm ready I'm ready so do you plan on going to E85 anytime soon uh I do in the next uh next couple months I should be going e and yeah that should give you a huge Abus in power probably yeah well about from 18 lb to somewhere around 38 lb is what I'm looking for just tiny little jump just a little jump a tiny jump just adding 20 lb of boost you know that b fire we had last night you're putting that in your motor oh I95 traffic yeah I95 traffic yeah that never happens you have to stop clutching this nope I was about to say yeah that's a spec stage 3 plus it's good to 675 ft lbs it's pretty solid doesn't seem too bad to drive though no it's actually really nice yeah that that's why I asked cuz you know a lot of aftermarket clutches you're going me a oh look at that Accord there an accord right now us just getting it just blue blue I know it's like we're going to read in the newspaper in an obit area of a Honda there's a Terminator oh boy turn yeah right there it's charcoal it's gorgeous it's so pretty I just barely see it they did so good with that car like like of all the Mustang I've ever made it's one of the ones I recommend to everyone that wants one that felt good going through the underpass though for sure gets you right in the tummy oh yeah right in the tummy you're right right around two grand it gets really droy but then it kind of evens out R you get a bump it it really likes 3,000 RPMs that's like it's it it just sounds so so gorgeous yeah well that in it's like happy it's just like you're don't be that guy it's like I want to be 8,000 RPMs right now but I'm not but Zach right now in his hatch I can imagine how loud that is right now cuz the last time I did this road trip was in that blue hatch in the back and it was still open down pipe from the bottom now it's out the hood it's so much louder and um not to mention he's on 85 and his gas viage is just horrendous so I won't be surpris if we have to stop at least once yeah he he claims that he won't have to but oh he he'll have to he'll have to for Peace of Mind purposes too like not to push your luck but we just passed King's Dominion one of them musement parks and was it you yesterday that said you don't like roller coasters or was it I love roller Coter see I love them it seems like with car people it's like half and half it like it is they're like well I have my own roller coaster I like being in control well Zach is deathly afraid of them like deathly afraid and I'm over here going you want to do that 300 foot drop he's like no okay your car was a pretty big hit at the last event we went to at Winter Fest just like yeah I was going to pull in and like yeah all right 240 convertible that's that's neat and then then I yeah like the heavens gate open like 30 people at all times and the convertibles how much are they heavier or lighter or they're slightly heavier I've done a little bit of weight reduction but the motor itself weighs so much more yeah like my Turbo weighs 40 lb manifold weighs about 50 oh just a manifold wow cuz you painted the car yourself you said it was 70 hours of prep work I think about 70 hours and you just you know you just enclosed it in an area and you did it I took every single part off the car doors trunk bumpers all of it everything separately Yep this is like pretty much the best motor like performance- wise they had it's like everything came together in this car it seemed like think that we covered a lot it's been good we're going to enjoy our road trip so thank you guys for watching this quick little video and uh thank you for being on camera I appreciate it and we'll see you guys next time take it easy vlog go for itgoing for a test hit in the 240 ain't that right Josh oh yeah you see my tire marks yeah yep still don't have
