The Art of Building a Custom Wagon: A Journey of Passion and Perfection

I must say that I picked all these components from their parts bed, what extremely well okay was this original color earlier. The original color was like a weird ugly metallic silver, okay and this is kind of my theme, it's almost like a golf nod, okay since I love Porsches so much, so I do love orange bar colors on my blue cars, and what do you want for cooling? This regular Andy free do you run a waterless cool, I do run so well since I do a lot of drag racing. We're not allowed to run any kind of ethylene glycol, you just run water, so we have to run just deionized water. Let me put a little bit of water, water just to help a little bit right, but ethylene glycol and it freezes, a big no-no for drag racing because if you spill on the trial court, alright well there's no rosin and some of that stuff works pretty good.

Oh, and what do we have here? So that is all I see, catch can, so you see oil, a direct yes it collects right there. Yeah, and that's something put together by our friends from Turbo Track, track track, I should say. We have an area intercooler, I've done a combination of liquid to air, but I wanted something very simplistic, so I have a very large PRL in a coolant in front as well. And this engine was built in-house, in our very nice clean room, and tuned in-house as well, using an AM infinity. What do you run for plugs? ngk BK, r8e, IX is Bank, just regular rid of plugs, my ear idioms no your honor idiom, I love the fact that ear idioms have a very fine tip, that the electrode is extremely hard, so when that spark kernel forms it does a great job in being able to really ignite the mixture evenly opposed to a large pool copper, which is soft and can inhibit the kernel formation.

So how does this work when you take this to eighth mile drags mostly? Yes, I build it for a thermal, but you know what I've been getting this word HJ. I want to do some half-mile stuff, yeah, so right now I'm geared pretty numerically high, it has a four-seven final drive at four-seven. Yeah, so as your driver is gonna buzz quite a bit, but I just received recently, at three-point-eight final drive, which allows me to have a lot of fun in half mile. Okay, I want to go exotic hunting with her, should be a lot of fun, so it's all-wheel drive, all the time.

Oh, great question, Honda has a very unique system that allows you to only have all-wheel drive on demand. So what happens is if the front wheels lose traction, the real wheel senses it locks up the rear and gives you idea adhesion clutch slippage clutchless. Okay, okay, so it's not a direct cog with it with a viscous coupler eases clutches and it can take that kind of power we're pushing it, I've killed some clutches in the past or factory issue now I have some aftermarket ones from Automotive Candy, yeah. We'll see how she holds up.

Okay, let's see what I mean, the rest just looks to be pretty much a wagon, yes this interior is looks factory but it's not. Yeah, West Customs and Oceanside did a good job with interior, I wanted to give you a very nice sleeper look right on suspension. I have kW version 3s on them, and of course in the middle of this beautiful art triple eight rubber from ToYou. Have 1552 integrally wheels well, it must look up pretty well with four wheel drive, it's very nice when it does hookup.

Oh yeah, alright are we about ready to go for ride? What do you think sounds good? Well, I'm anxious to try this my sponsor the wagon, I really need a longer final drive. They set up beautifully for a mile, yeah yeah great for uh it's weird to kind of sit on that rather than handing you know if you're down low, the earring so what did people think when you bring this elegant car, of coffee? Oh and then the import guys go crazy, if they holy ground trying to cover it all up. Drivers always something that roller black guys love, I always want to do it's a hot trend now, I'm in shock.

F-five hands are equal every one honey so in first gear it makes 15 psi in second care does 18 in third fourth and fifth is at 33 just so I can give us some opportunity for traction yeah. And you can hear that the gearboxes straight-cut that's like throwing the core strength everything, rice throwing rhyme the man vibration from the engine to the bed it's it's a beast.

The Passion Behind the Build

When building a custom wagon, passion and perfection are key. The journey begins with selecting the right components, ensuring they fit together seamlessly. In my case, I picked all the parts from their original packaging, a testament to my attention to detail. The engine is built in-house, tuned by experts, and fitted with high-performance components.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enbe like well another episode of jail on his garage the vehicle of featuring today I'm not quite sure what it is it's some kind of 1990 Civic remember a couple of months ago my friend BC was on BC moto he built that Porsche it was a 75 Porsche and he put a water-cooled later Porsche engine it with twin turbos made in 850 horsepower he's got a shop called DZ moto out in Ontario California where he builds this down he called gay I have something F to show you you would you would love this car you see this guy's I will just bring it by well I walked in and here it is and I'm seeing it now for the very first time just as you are so let's bring BC and BC come on in hello Jay long time good to see you again now what do we have here it appears to be a early 90 Civic am i caress this is a 1990 Civic wagon okay originally it was a front-wheel drive chassis with a 1.5 liter inline-4 engine mmm it was automatic right it could barely get out of its own way right until I got ahold of it okay now what a widt motor is this this engine is a k24 mill the bottom end is from a late-model TSX Acura okay the head is from a 2014 Civic Si and one thing I like about this head it has an integrated exhaust manifold okay now the manufacturers do that primarily for sheer economics or maybe to light off the catalyst to make it much harder to get better emissions right but for me it's a perfect candidate for a turbocharger to bowl right there with quick spool and a very short manifold so it's absolutely okay so very little lag very little likeyou for turbo that big now what is our displacement 2.4 liter 2.4 liter and what was it originally zero two point four two point four two valve or four valve it's a four valve head for valve water cooled right I took out the factory issue crank and put in a crankshaft from Eagle okay our own spec rods as well from ego and trompe Pistons nine two one runs on flex fuel okay which means I can put any combination of gasoline and ethanol okay and my am computer will adjust accordingly via my tune to match and key things safe and a liar so what will you make more power on ethanol or 91 definitely ethanol it has a much higher color content for each amount of air being ingested plus it has a higher octane so allows me to get away with more boost and more time and what kind of horsepower are you getting out of it right now this was built to handle four digits right but right now because I'm still testing things out which I want to get your feedback on 772 to the wheels 772 to all four wheel all four wheels all right well I'm anxious driving I assume the hood is not on it for that obvious reason God is correct sir okay let me guess and of course these are to cool the brakes back here great question you know the old Porsche racing teams used to use turbo fans to cool brakes and whatnot but in British Touring Honda did something very interesting in the late 80s they used turbo fans in the rear to create downforce by evacuating air from underneath the car oh that's so big all-wheel drive I want to follow suit and do the same thing oh okay well that's interesting and it's got a manual transmission yes but you see that knob looks a little bit peculiar doesn't it so sequential it's a sequential okay well they show 5-speed okay so you can get in this wagon even though you may feel like a grandma you can shift like a racecar driver okay okay very cool alright and it's a 5-speed now I have a quarter 6-speed in my Lotus that's interesting that you chose the five-speed up we have a very limited footprint with the factory gearbox because what qwave did is very interesting we retained the factory bell housing from the original gearbox but they have a casting that goes on the end cap and since we had limited space and we want to also be able to hold a lot of power in the front-wheel drive assembly it limits how many gears we can have but it does it very successful and what are we looking at 2,700 pounds it is too much you always do this that's correct you're very close this 2650 okay twenty fifty okay cool little foal tag again we're full all b27 I'm guessing okay okay that's about right you got a full cage in it again I do because you know I also want to keep the occupants very safe because with that kind of power it does have a 72 millimeter billet turbine X turbocharger mhm and everything is kept very safe in terms of air ingestion by a very custom AM filter system and it's very important that not only there's a car act reliably but like occupants inside the car also very safe I want to read it in the chassis as well you know I'm a big advocate of that and you're getting all your heat out of here any absolutely so it's not as hot inside very good brakes are stuck four-wheel this actually the front side if I left the factory issue in the rear but the Front's our buddy club okay buddy Club four piston big brake kit now why did you leave the drums in the rear I'm curious I wanted something that stayed more factory right so I it was a lot of fabrication for us to be able to get the rear end assembly to work together with the CRV components mm-hmm and it was actually very straightforward to keep the Honda drum brakes in the rear swine Plus believenot is lighter than the dis well yeah and of course being 1990 not a lot of computer in this car is there initially no but now I have a full AEM infinity engine management solution with beautiful sequential injection and column letter I forget you're the guy that's not afraid to most guys are afraid of the computers no that's fine yeah right by wire too so I'm a huge advocate of technology and just as many of my cars this also has full drive-by-wire okay now don't question this why do you have the air filter encased and open what is it open in the front it's actually quite in case this is something that when the day comes Jay and he'll come very soon when I put a hood on this yeah you'll have a slight aperture to allow me to get cool air into the intake okay so that being said that's why I have that enclosure in such a manner easy when you get more in just to have it without the enclosure at all actually since I will have a slight scoop on the hood uh I guess you very nice to get a slight Ram effect and this is really it looks very custom but my friends I am I actually picked all these components from their parts bed what extremely well okay was this original color earlier the original color was like a weird ugly metallic silver okay and this is kind of my theme it's almost like a golf nod okay since I love Porsches so much so I do love orange bar colors on my blue cars and what do you want for cooling this regular Andy free do you run a waterless cool I do
