Sony Xperia M2 Unboxing First boot & Hands on Overview

**Unboxing and First Impressions of the Sony Xperia M2**

As we begin our unboxing experience with the Sony Xperia M2, it's clear that this device is equipped with all the necessary features to provide an exceptional user experience. The phone's design is sleek and compact, making it easy to handle and maneuver. However, it's worth noting that the buttons are part of the display, which may take some getting used to.

Upon powering on the device for the first time, we're presented with the Android version 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. While this may seem outdated compared to newer versions like KitKat, Sony assures us that a 4.4 KitKat update will be available soon. Moving on to the storage, we find that the internal storage is a respectable 8 gigs, with approximately 3.96 GB of available storage space. This can be expanded further using a Micro SD card up to 32 GB.

The display on the Xperia M2 is another notable feature, boasting an auto brightness sensor for optimal visibility in various lighting conditions. Additionally, users have the option to customize their notification light settings. We quickly set up our Wi-Fi network and are pleased to find that the device supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

Upon launching the app tray, we're greeted by a range of pre-installed applications, including Sony-specific apps like Music and Life. There's also an FM radio option for users who enjoy listening to terrestrial broadcasts. Furthermore, the phone comes with Facebook and other tools pre-installed, making it ready for immediate use.

To test the device's capabilities, we fired up the browser and navigated to our website, tas.com. The standard keyboard was used to type in "Tech" and retrieve relevant information. We also attempted pinch-to-zoom functionality, which proved responsive and effective.

The processor powering the Xperia M2 is a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset. Supporting this processing power is the Adreno 305 GPU. In terms of RAM, the device comes equipped with 1 gig of memory, which should suffice for most users' needs.

In conclusion, the Sony Xperia M2 shows promise as a mid-range smartphone. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive devices, its performance is generally smooth and responsive. We'll be putting this device through further testing to determine its overall value and appeal.

**Testing the Camera**

Before we wrap up our unboxing experience, let's take a look at the camera capabilities of the Xperia M2. The rear-facing camera is an 8-megapixel shooter with Superior Auto mode enabled by default. We'll be using this feature extensively in our test shots to capture detailed images.

As you can see, tap-to-focus functionality is available, and we've opted to keep the auto setting for now. Next, let's take a closer look at some sample photos taken with the camera. Upon reviewing these images, we notice that there's a moderate amount of noise present in certain areas, which may be a concern for users seeking the cleanest possible images.

We'll be conducting further testing on the camera to assess its performance and compare it to other devices, including the LG L90, which shares similar specifications with the Xperia M2. Stay tuned for our in-depth review, where we'll delve deeper into the device's features and performance.
