**Ford Mustang Convertible: Practicality Inside and Out**
The Ford Mustang convertible is no doubt impressive on the outside, capturing attention with its bold design and iconic status as a sports car. However, when it comes to practicality inside, things take a turn for the worse. While it might seem like the car's massive exterior proportions would translate into a spacious and functional interior, the reality is far from that.
One of the first issues that stands out is the small opening of the trunk. The tall load lip and poorly shaped luggage area make loading even basic items a challenge. The trunk isn't just difficult to access; it also lacks practicality in terms of storage solutions. While you do get a few corks for tying down your luggage, there's precious little else in terms of useful features. Even essentials like the tonneau cover or a first aid kit don't have dedicated storage spaces—instead, they’re left velcroed to the garbage. This lack of thoughtful design makes everyday tasks feel more like an obstacle course than a breeze.
For those looking for a drop-top with a more practical boot space, the Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet isn’t much better. While the Ford Mustang boasts a generous 332-litre capacity, which might sound impressive at first, this number doesn’t tell the whole story. The trunk’s shape and size make it difficult to load items like golf clubs, which are long and require careful maneuvering. You’ll have to squeeze them through the small opening and wedge them awkwardly across the boot floor. Heavy suitcases also pose a problem; while there is space for one large or two small pieces of luggage, fitting everything in feels more cramped than it should be. Even with the trunk filled to the max, there’s still room left over for a soft bag at the front—though this does little to compensate for the overall inconvenience.
The rear passenger space is another area where the MustangConvertible falls short. With minimal head and legroom, it’s only suitable for small children when the roof is up. Getting in and out is no easy feat due to the low roof line and front seats that have to be manhandled out of the way. This setup also complicates the process of fitting a rear child seat. While the car’s wide door openings might seem helpful, the awkward angles you have to lean into make it difficult to install a base or an infant carrier comfortably. The rear seats themselves aren’t much better—anyone trying to fit an extended rear child seat will find it a tight squeeze.
Despite these drawbacks, the MustangConvertible does have a few positives. It comes with big door bins, a large glovebox, and a tray for your keys, which might seem like decent storage options at first glance. However, when you consider the lack of rear storage and the fact that the two cupholders are located too close to the driver’s seat, it becomes clear that there’s precious little room for anything else. It’s all too easy to knock your drink everywhere because of their awkward placement.
