The Joy and Challenges of Traveling: A Personal Reflection
As I sit here reflecting on my travels, I am reminded of the incredible experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. From driving across the United States to flying from one continent to another, each journey has taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of seizing opportunities. One such experience was when I worked at Dollar Tree, a job that allowed me to meet people from all walks of life. I met a guy from Apple, a fellow who had traveled extensively, and even someone from Germany and Spain – it's truly amazing to hear about their stories and perspectives.
These encounters not only broadened my horizons but also sparked a curiosity within me to explore the world further. Who knows, maybe one day I'll end up working with that person again, or we'll cross paths in some unexpected way. The thrill of discovering new cultures and meeting like-minded individuals is what drives me to continue exploring the world. As I reflect on my experiences, I realize that the friend thing still applies – even if I don't think people would appreciate jamming out to a song really loud on a plane.
Traveling has taught me that there's no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to getting from point A to point B. Driving versus flying – both have their pros and cons. While driving offers the unique experience of taking in breathtaking scenery, flying is often more convenient, especially for long-distance trips. For instance, my trip to Rally North America was an unforgettable adventure that pushed me to my limits. Crossing West Virginia to Colorado and back again, I had a clear goal in mind – to film across the country. The strongest thing about driving, in my opinion, is the scenery you wouldn't see if you just flew over the places.
On the other hand, flying has its own set of advantages. For example, when I was on my way to visit Dr. M3 and Rob Dom for a car event, I realized that flying would have saved me from the stress of driving in traffic. However, there's something about driving that gets under your skin – worrying about traffic, road conditions, and parking can be exhausting. Flying also has its drawbacks, such as worrying about connecting flights, renting cars, and dealing with airline regulations.
One thing that struck me when I started flying was the stress of navigating airports. The worry of missing my flight, dealing with long security lines, or finding a suitable rental car can be overwhelming. Not to mention, there's always the risk of technical issues with your flight or being stuck in traffic on the way to your destination. On the other hand, driving has its own set of challenges – from jamming out to music too loudly on a plane to worrying about parking and traffic.
Ultimately, whether you choose to fly or drive, what matters most is that you're excited about where you're going and what you're doing. For me, flying has been an incredible way to explore the world, but driving will always hold a special place in my heart – there's something about seeing the scenery unfold before your eyes that can't be replicated by air travel.
As I continue on this journey of exploring the world, I'm reminded of the importance of embracing new experiences and being open to whatever life throws my way. Whether it's driving across the country or flying around the globe, each experience has taught me valuable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and the joy of discovery. So, if you ever find yourself at a crossroads, whether it's deciding between flying and driving or embarking on a new adventure, remember that the journey is what truly matters – not just the destination.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello that cold start though what is up guys David here for another quick little video and in the past kind of month or so I have been doing a ridiculous amount of traveling now you guys might have seen I recently went to malver Pennsylvania which I drove to it's kind of outside of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania which was around 5 and 1/2 6 hours then the next day flew up to New York City to do a live stream with Mr robd and Dr M3 to be able to see the reveal of his lovely Lamborghini uracan and BMW I8 which I got to ride in all throughout New York City and then after that flew right back home then the next day flew on a plane to Vegas which I went to go do my SEMA coverage series now how I describe it sounds very glamorous and it's like oh you get to go travel and see everything well yeah but at the same time it's very exhausting and I don't really go for vacation you know I'm there to work I'm working the whole time pretty much but it really brought something up to me I hadn't been on a plane in quite some time and I've recently driven everywhere I've driven across the country once this year I've done a ton of driving to events so I thought about what are the kind of pros and cons of each kind of Transportation what is so great about flying and what is so great about driving so we're going to do a nice little pros and cons video about both of these things so let's start with the good of driving the good of driving I talk about all the time it's therapeutic it's lovely it's an awesome experience and wherever you're going it feels much more like a journey say I drive to a far away place like 500 M away you're going to feel those 500 Mi you're going to say wow I made it here like I made it here wow I feel really far from home or if you're alone you have alone time to listen to whatever favorite music you have to be yourself to just figure things out all up in this Noggin the only bad part is on these very very long road trips if you don't have somebody with you it is harder usually you usually get much more exhausted faster but with the drive it's all about the journey and the destination is almost the bonus if that makes sense one of the biggest cons of driving though is wherever you're going if it's very very far away it might be even more expensive than if you were just to fly there driving like we just said is also much more exhausting for yourself and your focus at the same time you feel like you're making progress there's not a lot of waiting around there's not a lot of sitting around and a lot of the times if you are on a road trip with somebody you probably know them fairly well at least if it's for a vacation but with the long travel times that that's also a con usually cuz it takes so much longer now what do I mean by that well when I drove to Philly slm it took me 5 and 1 half to 6 hours but then the next day when I was flying to New York on my connecting flight I stopped in Philly and it took 30 minutes 30 minutes I wasn't even halfway through my iTunes playlist not even close I took out my earbud and I was like wait we're there already oh all right at the same time with the travel time being faster on a plane you're waiting around is the longer time if your flight gets delayed you can't do anything about it you could get stuck in a city where with driving you're like I'm about it I'll just leave myself so the element of control is gone you are so reliant on the pilot and or the system to work it's not your own ball game but at the same time you don't have to do any of the work that's what's the beauty of flying is everything else is on the crew and the entire Airport System and blah blah blah blah blah so there's that luxury but flying you're never alone usually you're surrounded by strangers you've never met so if you're an introvert it's kind of awkward and what's great about that though is you can plug in your headphones if you don't feel like talk to anybody people won't take it personally like yeah I've never met you so it's all it's fine at the same time if you strike up a conversation with that person it can make the flight go really really fast cuz everybody in life has a story and it's interesting to hear those people's stories where are you from where are you coming from why are you going here why are you going there the last time I got on a plane I met an app developer uh I met somebody who worked for Dollar Tree I met another guy from Apple I met another guy from Germany I met another guy from Spain it's so cool to hear all these interesting stories and perspectives or who knows you might end up working with that person later in life wouldn't that be a coincidence or even it's a good business vure I mean when people ask me what I do they are super fascinated they're like oh I'll go watch your channel but see now if you never spoke up they would have never know who you were but that's also what's cool is that the the friend thing still applies you can still fly on a plane with a friend and it'll be kind of the same experience even though I don't think people would appreciate you jamming out to a song really loud on a plane so there's that driving versus flying though the the cost is very debatable because it depends on the distance you're going I always always always drive if I can if it's not too far away if the gas money is not too ridiculous in the end if it's just too much for me to handle flying is always a better option especially if you have a goal in mind where you're going for example Rally North goal or a focus goal wherever you're going and it's only at that destination fly dude cuz by the time you get there you won't be able to enjoy your time at your destination because you're so worried about getting the work done and then you go oh my God now I have to drive all the way back home that's always tough like I can tell you that I would be so stressed out of my eyeballs if I drove to New York got stuck in traffic did all that stuff finally made it to where I was going to rendevu with Dr M3 and Rob Dom did all that had then had to drive in the city then had to drive home while filming understand because the insurance Rule and all that crap but at least make it like 21 so younger people don't feel as pressured to find means of transportation and that's just my quick little thoughts on flying versus driving there are pros and cons to everything but in the end as long as your journey goes well and you get to your destination pick whatever you want to do and I would just like to make a quick little shout out to my buddies over at that racing channel for being about it and sending me two of their awesome t-shirts to rock if you haven't seen their content you should really check it out they have some of the most badass tuner car builds I've ever seen and I will visit them eventually when I make my trip down to Florida eventually so I will see you guys next time and take
