**The Journey That Ignited Leonie's Reading Passion: A Deep Dive into "Wings" by Aprilynne Pike**

**Introduction**

Leonie, a passionate book lover, recently embarked on the "One Book Tag" challenge created by her friend Lena from "The World of a Bookworm." This tag encourages participants to reflect on the book that sparked their love for reading. In this article, we delve into Leonie's story, focusing on how "Wings" by Aprilynne Pike became the gateway to her extensive reading journey.

**Struggle to Identify the Catalyst Book**

Reflecting on her reading history, Leonie has always enjoyed books since elementary school, often reading for school assignments. However, pinpointing a single book that ignited her passion was challenging. She didn't realize how significant "Wings" would be until later, as it marked her transition from obligatory reading to a genuine love for stories.

**Discovery of the Book**

The story behind discovering "Wings" is akin to a classic cinematic moment. Leonie's friend, who adored reading, frequently recommended books like "The Hunger Games" and "Twilight." Initially indifferent, Leonie didn't see herself as a reader. However, during a book presentation requirement in middle school, her friend lent her "Wings," which piqued her curiosity due to its intriguing premise.

**The Book That Changed Everything: "Wings" by Aprilynne Pike**

"Wings" is the first young adult novel Leonie read. The story follows Laurel, a relatable protagonist who discovers she has a unique connection to a magical realm through a flower growing on her back. This led her family to Avalon, a land of fairies, where conflicts and personal growth await.

**Time Since Reading**

Leonie read "Wings" at 13, after a year-long hiatus from reading. It reignited her passion, leading her to explore more books independently.

**The Story Behind the Book**

Borrowed from her friend, "Wings" was pivotal in Leonie's reading journey. Its original and captivating plot drew her in, especially the concept of a magical garden holding a gateway to another world. This imaginative premise made it unforgettable.

**Characters That Stayed with Her**

Laurel, despite her simplicity, resonated with Leonie. The supporting characters, including David and Tamika, enriched the story with depth. David's sweetness and Tamika's appeal created an engaging love triangle that added emotional layers to the narrative.

**Reaction to the Book**

Leonie was enchanted by "Wings," especially its first book. It inspired her to explore more literature, though subsequent books in the series didn't quite match the magic of the first. Her evolving standards as a reader contributed to this shift, highlighting how "Wings" set a high bar for engaging storytelling.

**Rereading Considerations**

While Leonie treasures her memory of "Wings," she hesitates to reread it, fearing it might not live up to her cherished recollection. She prefers to keep the experience idealized, marking it as a special chapter in her reading journey.

**Exploration Beyond "Wings"**

Though Leonie hasn't explored Aprilynne Pike's other series, "Wings" introduced her to the allure of young adult fiction. It laid the groundwork for her to discover and enjoy more compelling stories.

**The Physical Copy: A Treasured Memory**

Despite not owning a physical copy, the impact of "Wings" remains vivid. Leonie nostalgically recalls the moment she held it, a cherished memory symbolizing her reading rebirth.

**Conclusion**

Leonie's journey with "Wings" exemplifies how a single book can transform a reader's life. While she acknowledges its imperfections, her love for it endures, underscoring its role in her literary adventure. This article invites readers to share their own catalyst books, highlighting the profound impact of literature on our lives.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everyone it's me Leonie and welcome to another video today I'm going to be doing the that one book tag I was tagged by Lena over at the world of a bookworm she was also the one who created this Tarragona link her video down below so you can check it out basically the idea of this tag is that you talk about the book that got you into reading and answer some questions about them it was actually quite a task for me to figure out what the book was that got me into reading because as far as I can remember I have been reading a lot since and mentary school you know I enjoyed reading but I mostly only read because you had to read for book presentations and stuff so it was really hard to find a book that really got me into reading and also some of the oldest series that I really loved our series that I read when I was already into reading so the book that got me into reading isn't specifically a book that is one of my favorite books it's just one that opened up the way to other great books and the first question is which book that you choose and I don't have a physical copy of this book I'll get to that later and that is wings and by April and pike question 2 is how much time has passed since you read this book I read this book I think I was 13 whenever it was a long time when I was 12 I just stopped reading I didn't read anything for an entire year and then when I was 13 I started every reading books for myself and that was mostly because I read wings my influent Ike so question number three is how did you discover this book here here here comes the story okay so I had a friend who really liked reading she was always talking to me like I guess you should read The Hunger Games oh my gosh you should read Twilight you should read this book and that book and these looks a real super cool and I was always like I don't like reading I'm not going to read she was like but you liked it I was like I don't know so I never really listened to that but then one day we have to choose a book for a book presentation and I was like what book do I read so she sent me an email because that's how we did it five years ago when we didn't have smartphones she send me an email and she said yeah hey I just read this book and I think you might really like it so I would like to lend it to you so you can read it for a book presentation and that was like all right because the book sounded pretty cool and that book was wings my apron and pike which also explains why I don't have a physical copy of it that is because my friend lent a book to me so yeah I read it for my book presentation and I was like heavily crapped this book is good and that was like this switching point I was like oh my gosh reading is amazing why have I never listened to my friend before question number four is what is the name of the main character of this book and the main character of wings is Laurel she's kind of like a Bella Swan type of character she doesn't really have a person out of the year anything but I was 13 when I read it and my standards for characters were super low so I didn't really care and question number five is what does this book about and this is aware it starts to get fun because I really like the premise that's not basically what is about is girl Laurel who has been living with their parents in this house with a ridiculously large garden but they have to sell the house she's going to a new school her entitled life changes until one day there's this little mom who started to grow in her back that just becomes like bigger and bigger sounds really weird I know and then one day it opens and a flower grows from her back so she's like what the actual F there's a flower growing on my back how am I going to hide this from people how am I going to high school how am I going to show my parents what is this this random flower growing on my back and it turns out that she's actually a fake and that this huge garden from her old house actually holds the gate to Avalon country of the fairies and there's like this entirely conflict going on but she turns out to have this very special role in I thought it was super cool and super original and I really really liked the premise of the book question six is can you remember at least two sad characters yes that I still know most of the characters in this book but if I have to mention two there's David who is like her super sweet human boyfriend and then we get this other love interest who is Tamiya who's there's a very handsome favored sin' that also has romantic interests in Laurel and he started a very very very long love triangle question seven is that you'll like this book or didn't disappoint you like I said I really enjoyed the first book and it is the reason that I started reading a lot of other books for some reason it took me about a year until I started reading the second book and it took me another year until I picked up the third phone so throughout the time I've been reading a lot more and I kind of read books that were better than wings and by the time I read the second book in the series called spells I was kind of like yeah yeah mmm I didn't really like it as much as I liked the first book and I read third book which was illusions I was just not really enjoying myself and fourth and last book destiny I never even finished it and I don't know if the books in the series just got worse or if my standards just became a lot higher because when I read wings it was the first young adult book I've ever read in my life and I had zero zero standards but I did really like the first book so my answer to question eight which is what you like to reread this book I kind of would like to reread this book but I am pretty sure that I would suddenly see a lot of false if I were to reread it I'm kind of afraid that I would not like it as much and I don't want to spoil them experience you know I'd rather keep it in my mind as a book that I really loved and made me read other really great books question 9 is have you read any other books by this author you know that she has another series but I've never really had the intention to pick those up and question 10 is what you recommend this book I do think a lot of people might like the first book because I just have good memories of the first book but I wouldn't specifically recommend it feels really bad to say that is yes it is a book that I really enjoyed and got me into reading but when I started these other books I immediately noticed that there were just a lot of other folks that work better and the Elevens bonus question to show off the book in all its glory and show all the beautiful things of the physical copy of the book so that's what I'm going to do now this is the book I have this super pretty pretty super amazing edition of it that only two worthy can see it so I don't know if you can see it but I can definitely behold it's cute you can see that it's oh I dropped it sorry and that was the that one book tag I hope you enjoyed it let me know what book got you into reading I will leave the people that I tagged down below and I'll see you in another video goodbye 1 2 3hey everyone it's me Leonie and welcome to another video today I'm going to be doing the that one book tag I was tagged by Lena over at the world of a bookworm she was also
