The Parrot BBop Drone and Sky Controller Kit: A Comprehensive Review

Hey everyone, this is Darren from Hot Hardware with a quick video walk around of the Parrot BBop drone and Sky controller kit. The Parrot BBop drone is a lightweight, friendly, easy-to-use GPS-enabled HD video shooting drone that offers an unparalleled flying experience. With its advanced features and user-friendly interface, it's perfect for both beginners and experienced pilots.

The Parrot BBop drone boasts a 14-megapixel fisheye camera on the front, which points downward, providing an impressive 180-degree view in RAW image mode. The camera is also capable of digitally manipulating the image to keep everything flat and stable, ensuring that your videos are always smooth and professional-looking. The drone's body is covered with styrofoam to protect the camera unit, GPS chip, and other essential components.

When it comes to attaching the battery to the drone, it can be a bit tricky. The battery is difficult to secure in place, especially when flying at high speeds. This can lead to the drone sliding back or even hanging off by the wire if not properly attached. It's crucial to ensure that the battery is securely fastened to prevent any accidents.

One of the most impressive features of the Parrot BBop drone is its image stabilization system. Even in windy conditions, the drone will automatically adjust its position to maintain a stable and level flight path. This feature ensures that your videos are always smooth and professional-looking, even when flying in challenging environments.

The Sky controller kit is an integral part of the Parrot BBop drone experience. The controller features a joystick on the left side for navigating Android, with a home button and back button for easy navigation. There's also a video starting button just below the joystick, allowing you to start recording your flights seamlessly. Additionally, the controller includes a GPS chip that provides accurate location tracking and allows you to navigate your drone with ease.

The right-hand side of the controller features a joystick that controls the takeoff and landing functions, as well as up-down arrow keys for adjusting altitude. The home button on the top-right corner of the controller will bring the drone back to a safe distance if it gets lost or out of range. There are also status lights for battery life on both the drone and the Sky controller, ensuring that you're always aware of your drone's power levels.

The Sky controller kit also includes a recording light on the left side, which helps guide you during flights. Furthermore, the Wi-Fi connectivity lights on the bottom of the controller indicate when the signal is stable or losing strength, allowing you to adjust your position accordingly.

Overall, the Parrot BBop drone and Sky controller kit offer an unparalleled flying experience for both beginners and experienced pilots. With its advanced features, user-friendly interface, and durable design, it's an excellent choice for anyone looking to expand their drone photography capabilities.

it's cropping and digitally manipulating the image to keep everything flat and stable the front of the Drone is in blue here that's all styrofoam covering the camera unit the GPS chip and the back side is the battery underneath there's a circuit board which runs a fan it does run hot there's warnings on either side so you don't want to put your fingers below the arrows on the side there and the four rotors are colored black on the front and colors on the front depending on which one you order this Sky controller kit here has the button for take off on Landing all you do is hit the button it comes up about 3 ft and it just hovers there and then when you're ready to land you can bring it down to four 5 6 feet it uses a sensor to determine how far it is from the Earth and allows you to safely bring it in without slamming it down the battery on the Drone is an issue it's difficult to attach it's difficult to keep it on the velcro there just kind of keeps it horizontally and slightly vertically um tied down it's got four notches underneath it's easy to miss The Notches if you don't have all four notches on and the Drone is flown very fast forward it can slide back and it could potentially slide back so that it's hanging off by the wire which would be disastrous so make sure you got the the battery on there now I'm showing the Drone has a visual uh like an image stabilization and a GPS stabilization so if it gets spun by the wind it will come right back to where it was looking it's a really cool feature it keeps it really stable and now looking at the sky controller we've got joystick on the left we've got home button and back button for Android control there's a video starting button just below that the joystick on the side are for navigating Android it gives you a mouse control GPS chip there is with that satellite symbol and then on the other side we're going to see the joystick for the right hand controls the takeoff and Landing Button as as up down arrows the home button will bring it back if you lose it you hit the home button it brings it back status lights for battery on the sky controller and the Drone and then we've got a recording light on the left and Wi-Fi connectivity lights on the left I've got a Nvidia Shield tablet in here showing the uh user interface also that down arrow button just below that home icon is the emergency landing button if you hit that it's coming straight down with no power the joystick on the right allows for digital panning while shooting video or for taking Stills while in photo mode you can see the Wi-Fi antenna module is positionable you want to constantly keep that thing pointed up at the Drone I found that when not you will lose connectivity the lights on the left hand side will indicate that you're losing Wi-Fi signal the battery on the back is very easy to dislodge it really needs a velcro strap I ended up bumping it and finding it hanging by the wire on several occasions perhaps it's just my unit but I suspect that this is kind of a design flaw here on the right we see both the battery status light for the sky controller and for the Drone see that 95% there on the screen that's the battery in the Drone but on the sky controller you see a red light the reason why is because if you incorrectly connect your tablet or phone to the Drone the sky controller unit won't be able to read the battery percentage so always connect when you're out flying your phone or your tablet directly to to the sky controller that'll allow the sky controller to accurately Read Battery
